It's that day again! And in the spirit of this fun modern-day festival that was originated by the Celts (and then warped by the Catholics before being flavored by various cultures) I felt perhaps a topic could be used.
So share your favorite holloween stories, maybe share some awesome costumes you've worn or designed this year or past years.
I'll tell some later, right now I gotta go get ready for a group of little kids I saw headed down my house's way. One's a fairy, so cute! 3nodding

actually, there were other pagan cultures that also celebrated the day-of-the-dead when the veils were lifted, tho the Celtic version of Samhain is by far the most popular. another was the Roman festival of Feralia, which was a day in late October when they commemorated the passing of the dead. even in Mexico and South America there were pre-christian peoples that honored the dead in a two or three day holiday spanning from Oct 31 - Nov 2.

Oh well, procrastination on work got the better of me. Samhain was the version the early Christian church morphed to get the pagans to convert to Christianity though yes?

Okay my costume of the year was fantastiic! I was a cereal killer! I had an apron with two cereal boxes stapled side-by-side to said apron. Then I cut two styrophome bowls in half, attached paper to the open backs, & glued said bowls to the boxes. I then stuck in sppons into the boxes and painted white "milk" blood trailing from the wounds. Following that I glued cereal into the bowls as "guts". Then I put on my fingerless gloves and sloved in plastic spoons so that They looked like a cereal killer's version of Freddy's claws XDD. I then paled my face so tht I looked sickly and had on a black rocker wig. Everyone seemed highly amused at it.

I'm sure different celtic groups had different names for it. but it's the one everyone now knows, and it's the one that Wiccans adopted to use.
