Carlos sat high in a tree basking in the warm sun light that shone through the leaves of the tree. It had been a long week, and he needed to get away from the kits that Summer had brought home. Those two were little pests. He had never known a pair of kittens that loved to chew as much as them. He was surprised that he didn't have scars from their brutal 'playing'.
A yawn escaped his lips as he stretched his paws up before him. It felt nice to get away from a house full of kits, all of them using him as a punching bag.

Muscles moving sinously beneath his black-on-black patterned fur, Bagheera slipped into a hollow between two of the roots at the base of a tree. He ducked down, listening for pursuing pawfalls, breathing a sigh of relief when all his large ears caught on the breeze was birdsong and the singing of wind in leaves.
The large male libris sat back on his haunches, relaxing at last now that he was out of her sight. Not that he didn't find her company endearing, oh no, it wasn't that. Only did she have to be so clingy? Sometimes a man just wanted to have some time to himself! Usually it didn't bother him, but with so many new books popping open and flinging kits everywhere... Bagheera shuderred.
Out of the corner of his eye, Bagheera caught movement above him, He tensed and flatenend to spring away, craning his neck to see who it was. Had she located him so easily?

His black muzzle opened in a large yawn. His ears fell flat against his head as he stretched again. "It feels so weird not having anything to do." he said as he let his paw fall off the branch. It was nice not having to look over his shoulder every minute.
He looked down to see a pair of golden eyes. His ears perked. He didn't recognize the color. He jumped off of the branch, and landed on the soft grass beneath, his back to the other cat.
Carlos turned, bright blue eyes looking into the hollow curiously.

Bagheera followed the descent of the othe rlibris, blinking in surprise as it turned around and peered at him with large blue eyes. Definitely not Shasta. Visibly relaxing, Bagheera stretched his front paws forwards, kneading at the ground in front of him. "Y'do know how t'scare a body. Thought you was some'n else."
He cocked his hea quizzically, taking in the odd swirls on the other male's ears and his finely marked coat. "B'ain't seen you 'round afore."

Carlos smiled. He hadn't meant to scare the guy. He was glad that the black libris wasn't a kit. He didn't know what he would do if he stumbled upon another.
"Sorry man." He said as he sat down. His eyes wandered around his coat. The spots looked like a mix of Sonya's and Danny's. "The same could be said about you.." He said as he smiled, nodding lightly. "Name's Carlos."

Bagheera grinned back, stepping out from between the roots to sit more casually on the boll of the nearest one, and more on the same level as Carlos. "Y'thought I was some'n else too? Strange, small litt'l world." Suddenly remmebering himself, he dipped his head in greeting. "I'm Bagheera, nice t'meetchoo. 'Tho, y'can jus' call me Bagh if it's all th'same to ya."

He smiled at his new friend. "Pleasure." Carlos's eyes looked around the scenery around them. "So what brings you out here?" his eyes roamed around the trees before they landed back on Bagh.

"Oh, not much. Just a little backyard escapism, if you know what I mean." He grinned and gave a half wink, as if he expected very much that Carlos did know what he meant. "A guy just needs some time to relax once in a while." He stretchedm pausing midway to eye Carlos up and down. "You definitely look like you need to relax."

He scoffed, and rolled his eyes, "I know exactly what you mean." He said as he thought back on his stressed life. Having 9 kits at home to take care of was as crazy as it is, let alone having to take care of a girlfriend. He needed someone to talk to. Bagh seemed like just the guy.

Bagheera twisted until he was on his back and pushed his hind feet into the tree root, wriggling his back into the cool grass. "Well then I guess you're in luck. Lay it on me, tell em what's got you so bummed out and off-center." He batted at an overhanging stalk of grass, watching it dance in front of his nose. "To live for today, you have to get yesterday off your back first, you know?"

He thought how to explain it without giving the wrong impression, or sounding hateful towards his 'family'. "Well, you could say I come from a large litter so to speak." He said as he plopped down in the soft grass, his tail swaying in the luscious green.
"I have nine others at home, all kits." He said as he rubbed his paws in the grass, "And their all a complex as snowflakes." Carlos closed his blue eyes, "I have to babysit almost every day, and to top it all off, I have a girl friend."
