So one of the many churches here in the AK bible belt has decided to do a "haunted house-style attraction" to "show youth the divine judgments that await unrepentant sinners and the torments awaiting the damned in Hell". Now, normally I couldn't care less about this kind of thing, except they just had to throw in an abortion scene. "Bracken said the abortion scene plays on the church’s belief that abortion is not birth control, but a sin.
“It plays off of the, ‘it’s just a fetus, it’s no big deal,’ theory,” he said. “In the scene, the 16-year-old girl pressured into the abortion by her family, by her boyfriend, destroys the argument that abortion is birth control. She’s lying on a gurney, knees up and the audience is looking from her head to her toes, with the back lighting showing the shadows of her knees, with fake blood. That and the suicide rooms are the two most shocking rooms in there.”And they're doing this on halloween night. Way to screw up my favorite holiday. I'm thinking of going and wearing a shirt that says "pro-choice" on it in big letters... Or something. The article, for those of you that want to read it.

Ugh. Hell houses. Kill me now. I should go. Dressed as myself. In all my leathery, corseted, gothic-madeup, chainy glory. With pamphlets and debunking.

Solaris Lunarena Ugh. Hell houses. Kill me now. I should go. Dressed as myself. In all my leathery, corseted, gothic-madeup, chainy glory. With pamphlets and debunking. If you do, take pictures! I want to see the angry zealots trying to convince you that god hates gays, abortionists, people who have premarital sex (or if they're catholic people who have sex for pleasure instead of to reproduce) and that taking the pill is the same as getting an abortion... You know, even though the bible doesn't even mention abortion and that god thinks it's better to whore out your daughter than to let a stranger be assaulted... The christians who put up these shows rarely know their own religion, they don't know that bigamy was acceptable at one time, so was genocide, slavery and murder (including infanticide) and that all these things were seen as acceptable by god. So they'll have to excuse me if I want nothing to do with their spook house or their god. I'll just sit back and have a good laugh at their expence.

Funny thing is, even the other churches aren't backing this guy. And he's got a good part of the christian populace here in a tizzy.
Edit: I love that comic. "Goddamnit, I am trying to show you assholes christly love here!"

That sounds like the most frightening haunted house EVER...but for completly different reasons than they intend... A building filled with Fundies, dark corners for them to leap out at you. I'm imagining super soakers filled with holy water...
Also, I LOL'd alot at that comic. Thanks!

There was on of these a few years ago in St. Louis. I didn't go, but the news stations showed a few clips of different "stations" as the church called them. I thought it was pretty funny in a sad way. The vast majority of the people who did the acting in it were between 14 and 25. I remember the on channel 5 the reporter said they couldn't show the abortion station because it was considered to graphic for television. I really got a kick out of that line since that church has been known for saying that there is too much sex and violence on TV.
