Feel four was drastically different than 1-3?

4 was more detective based... and the twist at the end, for the first time in the Saw series, was predictable. I didn't even feel like it was a twist.

In 1-3, the "twist" music (if you will) plays and there's flashing flashbacks like crazy and voiceovers of pre-recorded lines.

Even though some of that was here... I just saw Hoffman stand up, and I was like "Oh."

well, saw IV DID have new writers.
and it's kind of hard for good twists, with John dead and all.
I mean, in the first one, I pretty much s**t my pants when John got up in the bathroom.
saw II and III's twist weren't as amazing, but still good.
I liked the movie well enough, but I'm still apprehensive about saw V and VI.

I agree, the new writers need to work on their twists, but being a writer myself i can imagine how hard it is.But still.i thought the traps were ok though. But i have seen better.

honestly, i was not impressed with saw IV. i thought the traps were mediocre, and the "twist" was predictable and had absolutely no intelligent point behind it. this movie had the potential to be good, but i don't think they hit the mark with this one.

I thought that it was good but it could have used more traps and better story plot. I just really want to see what happens next more then anything about SAW. I hope that the next ones won't be a disappointment.

I really loved how different this one was, it made it stand out from the others, sure it was an easy twist to work out but think about it, we have no idea why Hoffman became Jigsaw’s apprentice in the fist place, what he was doing with his life to end up in one of John’s traps or even what that trap was. I think that’s what made this one so interesting was that fact that there is so much that is unknown about Hoffman, so much that can be covered in the next films, he is pretty much unknown. See with Amanda we knew why she had been tested and how she had survived yet she did not follow John’s rules at all while from what we have seen Hoffman has been following the rules and has played quite a complex game in the process.

it f'n sucked i swear on the saw makers grave that if saw5 is like saw 4 im never watching another film...

plot twist was obvious, plot was dumb, it wasn't scary and the only thing that creeped me out was the autopsy. to many things were left unexplained like wutever hapened to thet one guy whos dsaughter was tooken by jigsaw? and will the black guy ever find out what happened to his wife?

all in all this movie sucked

Um, Jeff got shot by Agent Stram, and Riggs wife was never in any trouble, she went to her mothers, Jigsaw just used her picture to taunt Riggs.

The first time I saw "Saw IV", which was in the theater... I have to say I felt the same way when Hoffman stood up. Like.. "Oh... been there, done that." ::sigh:: BUT after I bought in on DVD and watched it again, I understood the twist more and as a result, liked the movie alot more too. I don't think the "shock" factor was that Hoffman is the new Jigsaw, and as a repeat of the first one, getting a "front row seat" in one of his traps. The twist was more that the "beginning" of Saw IV is actually the end, and indeed the beginning of V. I think there is alot more to Hoffman than we think. I don't think it was... Hoffman and John meet, become pals, and thus a new Jigsaw is born. I think there is alot more to that dirty little story and I wouldn't be surprised if John didn't trust Hoffman at all.. and we are looking at a third accomplice.

Saw 4 was a lot more "brutal" and "bloody" then the others, but that's probably because the writer/director of this film created the film "Feast"

... And that movie is just wrong on so many levels D:
