Bright blue hues squinted at the area around herself, she was lounging about in the suns rays, and she knew it well, it was warm here, somewhat sheltered by some undergrowth, a small pool of water, and a few stones, larger of course, scattered here and there. Her eyes flickered back and forth on the horizon, searching for a figure she longed to find for quite some time now.
She was out there, a heart and soul would find her.
Silver pelt painted with black blended in somewhat with the stones before her, a humming in her throat, of a song she remembered from what seemed like ages ago, though most of the words escaped her, the gentle tone of the lullaby almost long forgotten was still within the midst of her grasp in memory.
Pink nose scrunching as she took a breath, she sighed as she felt warm, warm was comforting, reminded her of the one she longed for herself.

Noki was not lost, per se. She had simply wandered off a good deal farther than her parents liked her to. The usually obedient yellow cub had been distracted in a game of follow the leader with a far-flying butterfly, and when the insect had flown away out of sight, Noki had been left in a strange area she was not sure she'd ever been in. Fortunately, she had a decent idea of which way she had come, so she wasn't yet starting to worry. At least, not about her ability to get home! She was a little worried about how her mother and father would react, though.
Hopping along the path she thought she might have taken, she didn't really take notice of anything around her. Noki was still a bit too young to worry about paying a great deal of attention to her surroundings, with no practice at all in hunting yet. Of course, she did know there was some kind of reason that her parents kept them all close. She just didn't know what it was exactly!
Content not to worry for now, she continued along looking for any familiar landmarks.

Something was moving, and tilting her head in silent question a smile graced her features softly and Loustearha smiled and half giggled, for a moment she thought the form was a tiny hare, but no, a cub. A cub alone out here? Worry struck her, she had a thing about being alone, especially when young, it tortured her sometimes, the thought of cubs being left alone to fend for themselves..such a cruel and hard instance to grow upon.
"Hey there," she called out, standing up to show herself to the figure, her stance not threatening at all, "Wanna have a drink? Its alright," talking with another would be fu, especially with a cub of course.
She could relate so well, even though she was technically a full grown adult.

Noki stumbled to a stop when someone suddenly called out to her. Despite the obvious differences in voice, the cub almost thought she'd be found by her mother. When she realized she hadn't been, she at first was not sure if she was relieved or disappointed- and she looked over at the strange silvery lioness with wide, orange eyes. It took the lioness offering her a drink before she remembered that she shouldn't be so trusting of strangers, and she stayed back where she was.
"No thank you," she answered politely, shaking her head, "Who are you?"
Not so polite, but the smart little girl figured once introduced they would not be strangers- and then it would be safe to talk to her more! Noki couldn't help but notice the pretty colors and patterns on the older lioness, she was even a bit distracted by it and started to stare off at one of the stripes.

Quirking a brow she giggled at the younger, female as well, cub's reaction to her invitation. She was taught well, that was for sure, a great thing to know to not be too trusting to others, so...she had to have a guardian, or family somewhere near here. "Did your mom and dad tell you that sweetie?" she asked kindly, keeping her stance as simple as it was.
She hoped she had a family...or she might just have to watch over the cub as her mother had for her.
Then, then if she found her mother they could be a happy family!
"My name's Loustearha hun, Lous if fine, whats your name? Why're you alone out here?"

Noki wasn't sure what she had said that was so funny, but smiled sheepishly at the older lioness as she laughed. She assumed it must have been something to do with her declining the drink, or asking who she was. Whatever it was, the answer to Lous's question had to be yes- for her mom and dad were the only ones who really taught her anything! Unless you counted silly games from all her sisters and brother..
"Yeah, I guess," she replied with a nod, "Loustearha is a pretty name, mine's Noki! It's a lot shorter, but I guess it's easier for everyone to have short names when there are six of us."
When asked why she was out here alone, Noki glanced around, and then back to Lous. "I was playing follow the leader with a butterfly," she explained, taking a seat, "It got really far ahead of me, I didn't know I was this far from home until it got away!"

Sighing in relief Lous smiled, the girl had a family, that was so wonderful indeed, she would have felt so badly and been unable to leave her behind if she was alone. Flicking her tail she watched her, took a step forward to her and stopped, as if testing the new waters between them. "Your mom and dad might worry about you after a while, though butterflies are so nice. I used to chase them too, but I'd always go back home to my mommy" she said with a nod.
She still called her mommy-
that was fine with her.
"She'd watch me do it sometimes too, do you parents and...other siblings play with you a lot too?" six in total? Wow.

When Lous stepped closer, Noki did not move- though it was clear that she kept an eye on the elder lioness. Noki wanted to be trusting, but she'd been taught to be at least a little bit skeptical! And so, skeptical she would be. She supposed.
"I always go back, too. Well, I always will," she agreed with a firm nod, "I've never met anyone other than my family before, you're the only one. I mostly just play with my sisters or brother! Did your s-siblings play with you lots?" Noki tested the new word Lous introduced her to, figuring out it's meaning from the way she used it. Coming from such a large family, Noki could only assume that everyone must have brothers and sisters. It was hard to imagine life without them!

"Thats very good that you always go back, family is very important Noki, trust me," she said with a gentle nod, her fur falling into her light lbue eyes somewhat. She hadn't met anyone else yet? Loustearha figured that she was either pretty young, or lived a rather isolated life out here with her family, either was just fine though, either was just fine.
Siblings...
The thought made her heart ache for a brief moment, she had siblings once, once..."I don't know if we did," she said sitting back, watching little Noki. "You see, when I was very, very little, your age or even younger, a monster came in the middle of the night when it was very, very black outside, and the rain made no scent of the monster acknowledgeable..." she knew the story by heart...and soul. "My dad and mom, mom from then, got taken away by the monster," she remembered that smell..it as horrible. "I had a couple siblings, but the monster took them too, I was all alone left by myself when the monster came to me, then a roar came about, so strong, powerful, almost as if in agony, and my new mommy came and saved me, she fought the monster away."
Her mom saved her, surrogate mom, but her mother no less.
"She played with me, all the time, and I never saw the monster again, I think it was afraid of her roar."

Noki beamed proudly, nodding as Lous said to remember that family was very important. The cub was well aware of that! She loved her family very much, and she had been so happy when daddy had shown up. She always wanted things to stay the same, and she was sure it always would be! Noki had no idea of how time alone often changed things, even without the circumstances that would soon separate her and her siblings from their mother.
She became a little less sure of herself when Lous told her story. Her bright orange eyes were wide by the time the lioness described how her new mommy came in and rescued her from the monster. It was a terrifying story to a cub of Noki's age, and even the idea of the monster's being afraid of a new mommy's roar wasn't comforting.
"Why wasn't it afraid of your first mommy's roar?" she mumbled worriedly.

"Oh, oh darling its alright!" Lous said crouching low to the ground, scooting towards her slowly,"I didn't mean to scare you little sweetie," her eyes twinkled in the light of the sun, why had she been so stupid to tell such a story to a cub, a cub!? Flicking her tail she gave a small smile, "I'm not too sure hon, though I think my second mommy might have seen what the monster had done, and got sad and angry, and the monster was cut off guard by my second mommy...I wanted to roar out too, but I couldn't, I was scared..."
Plus she couldn't see that well to begin with.
"But know this Noki," she said leaning forward, whispering, "Even the tiniest of roars, can scare away monsters, even the tiniest roars and keep those you love safe."

Now that she'd been told a rather worrying tale, Noki completely forgot that she was trying to keep a distance between her and Lous- and she inched ahead a little when Lous moved in. If there were any monsters, and Noki was sure Loustearha was not one of them, she would be better off closer to Lous than farther. The cub did not look too greatly convinced by the explanation, especially since a big part of it was "I don't know".
However, Lous saying how even a tiny roar can scare monsters away did make Noki feel a bit better. Still wide-eyed, she asked in a hushed voice as if they were discussing something secret, "What if you're too scared? Like you?"

Lous stayed crouched down, inched even closer so that her toes on her front paws were nearly touching Noki's tiny ones, "Do ya really wanna know? LIke really?" Lous said whispering softer still, peering around as if someone else was watching, listening, and then her eyes fell back onto Noki.
"Watch them, let your eyes meet theres, and don't look away, monsters hate it when another looks at them, but once you do, don't look away until they do. Monsters may see it as a challenge, but also as a sign of great strength, and they envy and respect such strength..." she said with a nod.
Eyes were intriguing and important.
Lous could still remember her mommy's eyes, if nothing else, just her eyes.

The cub stared at Lous as she inched closer and closer until they were toe-to-toe. Her immediate reaction to the questioning was a fervent nod- of course she wanted to know what to do if she couldn't roar! She had to keep monsters away if she was ever faced with one. Noki was just about to look away from Lous's eyes, and her gaze did indeed flicker, just was Lous said not to break eye contact. Immediately, she looked back at the pretty blue eyes of her new friend.
Not being given the option or idea that one might not be able to manage this, Noki did not question what would happen if you couldn't do this. The way Lous made it sound, it was foolproof! Doing her best to not even blink, she nodded to show she heard and understood what Lous said.

Lous' eyes stayed focused on little Noki's, and she smiled and then pulled herself up into a sitting position back on her haunches and she nodded and smiled, "Very good! No monsters will mess with you sweetie," she said with a wink, blinking once or twice so her eyes wouldn't start to tear for keeping them so open, so focused for a bit.
"You'll be able to protect anyone with that gaze, never forget what I've told you yea?" she asked with a slight tilt of her head.
"Won't your family be proud of you when now you know how to keep the monsters at bay."
