Gaia Rules and Guidelines

These are the basic rules of the RP.

1-No God-modding. I hate having to remind people of this, but it's happened too often recently for me to just leave it be. If you are caught doing this, you will be given one and only ONE warning. After that, your posting ability will be taken away for one week. The second time you are warned, you'll be denied the ability to RP for a month. Third strike is your last. Do it again, and you are banned from the group.

2-No one liners please. Each post should be at least a paragraph, if not longer. It's not that hard to come up with at least four to five sentences for a single post. I can whip out several paragraph posts with no trouble, with only a few things as subjects. Yet it doesn't seem long or drawn out. I expect this to be followed. I will give you warnings. You'll have plenty of chances, but I will keep record of how many times you break this rule. After the fourth or fifth violation--depending on how close together they are, your post will be deleted and ignored.

3-Play nicely with each other, please? I really hate bickering. It happens too often lately, and internet bullying will NOT be tolerated.

4- Please check your spelling and grammer. It's not that hard to run something through a spell check. It's one thing if a few words here and there are misspelled, but when every other word is wrong it gets irritating.

5- NO CHATSPEAK ALLOWED IN CHARACTER! If I catch you doing this, or someone else reports it, expect to have the ENTIRE post deleted and you will be asked to redo it. I cannot stand chatspeak. If you have problems coming up with longer posts, or have a hard time with keeping the chatspeak out of it, ask me for help, and I'd be glad to help you learn to rp better. BUT, do not expect me to reply to said posts.

6- OCs are perfectly welcome. I love to have OCs interact with the cannon characters. I do have one rule, however. They cannot have special powers, Godlike abilities or anything that does not fit with the storyline. If it fits the story, go ahead, but check with me first. Otherwise, NOT allowed.

7-Absolutely no Mary Sues. If a character has been approved by myself or another admin, then they are not considered by us to be a Mary Sue, but a well developed OC. Do not hassle the poor members about this. I've had this happen one too many times to count. No male counterparts to the Mary Sue either.

8- To borrow something my good friend and adopted little brother has said many times before,
Quote:
"I have been rp-ing for years and have developed my own style. I won't change it just because someone doesn't like it. Also, I spend time researching and developing my characters, so if you don't like the way I play them.... tough."

I believe that about sums it up.

9-No Cybering Allowed. This is a PG-13 site. Anyone caught cybering in character in the forums will be reported, their posts deleted, their character killed, and WILL be banned from this guild.

10- Lastly and most importantly, in my eyes--This is a game, and meant to be fun. Let's not spoil it by taking things too seriously. I know sometimes you can become wrapped up in your character, but keep in mind that there is a basic story that the owner usually wants to tell. Remember, that this is a free-form rp, but that the owner is your GM of sorts and has final say in the matter on what goes on in the RP. This doesn't mean you can't have your fun. Just remember to check with us first before doing something that drastically affects the storyline or any major characters, OC or cannon.

These are the basics to keep in mind when battling.

1-If it's a plot specific battle, there is usually a side already determined to win. Please don't argue this point. Nothing you say/do is going to change our minds on this. It's something to help forward the story. Sometimes there will not be a chosen side. It all depends on exactly which battle it is, and who's involved. PMs will be send out announcing the battle, and which side is expected to win.

2-If there are already people involved in the fight, don't just jump in, guns blazing. Ask in OOC first if it's alright.

3-For main battles, a list will be made in "Plots" of who needs to join in. If your character is not listed and you want to fight, contact the admin, moderator, or player who started the thread.

4-If they are main characters battling, do not kill one of them off. I don't care how much you've always wanted to, they're needed for the story. This doesn't mean they can't be badly wounded however.

5-Small player battles don't need to be judged by a third party, but if you wish for a moderator or an admin to decide the outcome, PM them and ask. They'll be more than willing to. Just be prepared to accept their decision.

5a-The only exception to 5 is this: if you are challenging for a rank or position. In this case, the battle MUST have a third party not involved in the fight to decide the outcome.

6-No autoing/god-modding. This becomes more than slightly annoying to players who wish to engage in a fair fight. You can't just hit your opponent without their player agreeing to it. You can, however, write that they attacked, and leave it open for the other member to allow a hit to fall. This does not mean that you can dodge every attack. No one is that perfect--not even Kakashi or Zabuza. You will be hit at least a few times in the course of a battle. If you have problems with someone doing this, contact an admin, because it will NOT be tolerated.

7-The consent rule. Make sure your opponent actually is willing to fight before attacking them, because they reserve the right to look at your character and just walk away, if they so choose. It's always better to check with them in a PM or in OOC first before doing anything.

8-These rules are subject to change at any time, and more will be added later. Don't argue with us on these.
