The sun had long since passed, into the horizons deep hold. Instead now hung, a bright glowing moon. A full moon that lit up the lands below. It was clear enough to see as well as one could in the day, or just about.

Ayelet had her eyes glued to the sky. It was magnificent, the moon in all it's glory. The day had been long and lazy, and now she was aimlessly on the move. She had no set destination, but rather didn't want one. The night sky was her only map.

It had been raining for three days and on into the nights. Tonight however, the sky was free from any cloud.

Perfect.

Beautiful. her mind called out words silently as she gazed up.

It was a relief when the rain had finally abated, dripping off the trees and glittering in the moonlight. He had wandered off by himself, needing the solitude after days of being cooped up with the same group. Even his son had started to get on his nerves. Maybe it was just age getting to him, making him cranky. But whatever the reason, he had gotten out of there at the first chance.

Taking a deep breath of the cool night air, he wandered through the wet grasses, the moonlight catching and tossing off glitters from his coat and hooves. He didn't mind the dampness, enjoying the scent of the earth after the rain, even three days worth that made the ground muddy and slick. And the moon...He paused and turned his face upwards to look at bright sphere of light, ears tilting back slightly, as if pondering how to somehow take it from the sky.

Rajiv didn't notice the mare standing a small distance away, too distracted in his own thoughts.

Ayelets nostrils flared with the hot scent of another soquili, a stallion at that. She took her gaze off the sky for a second, continuing in a slow wandering pace. Her eyes scanned around clumsily, until she found a figure in the distance.

Changing her pace, she began to wonder over to where he was. She enjoyed meeting new soquili after all. But just as she pivoted on her front hoof, she slipped on a slimy patch of grass.

"AIEEAA!" she blurted out uncontrolably at the sharp pain, and almost wild cry in the tone. She fumbled as the leg slipped to the side, almost out from underneath her. She stumbled to get her feet back together. She was so happy she didn't fall.

She stopped for a second, evaluating herself. Her face was pitiful. She almost sucked her teeth as she looked down, but found nothing to be upset over. She hadn't really done much damage. Her hoof had a little muck on it, and the pain was minimal. It hurt more at the joint of her knee, where it had extended out from underneath her at a hyper angle.

Her thought returned, and she looked up. No doubt, the stallion had heard her....along with anyone else who was near. She winced.

Scowling slightly now, he narrowed his eyes at the moon before letting out a heavy breath. He should be enjoying the peace, not scowling about things he had no control over. Shaking his head, he turned to continue walking when a shriek split the air. His ears flattened and he tensed his muscles, looking around for the source of the cry. It sounded like a mare in distress...but where?

Turning in a tight half circle, he spotted the mare just a short distance away, wobbling slightly. Rajiv didn't see any predators or anything else to cause such a cry of alarm, but he cantered over to her anyway, a frown on his face. "Are you alright? What happened?" He asked in concern, eyes flicking over the mare's multi-hued form quickly. She was favoring one of her legs slightly, but he could see no wound. Perhaps she had caught it in a hole of some sort? Rajiv knew his son was always complaining about tripping in rabbit burrows or some such thing all the time.

She spotted the stallion as he approached to where she stood. Her shoulders slumped, but she still managed to smile at him.

"Yes thank you.." she lowered her head in response. "I am just fine." her knee a dull ache and a reminder of what she had happened. "I somehow managed to slide a hoove out from under me. I almost fell, but instead, I think I hurt my knee trying to keep from doing so." Her cheeks flushed to a bright orange-red as the golden tone began to blush. She felt a bit silly, and even odd at how clumsy she must seem.

She could swear at the wet grounds, if she didn't have the knowledge of it's great need among the lands. It did after all, sustain life abundantly.

Head tilting, Rajiv gave her a curious look before smiling slightly. "It happens sometimes. The ground is rather slippery with all the rain lately." He observed, eyeing the soggy, muddy ground at their feet. She didn't seem clumsy to him at all. After all, everyone slipped now and then. "Well, at least you didn't hurt yourself badly. That would have been a terrible shame." He mused with a half smile at her.

Rajiv blinked and suddenly looked embaressed at his lack of manners. His son would be appalled...Rajiv almost grinned anew at the thought. "I apologize, I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Rajiv. Pleased to meet you, even despite the circumstances." Rajiv gave a smile and a slight bow of his head before giving her a questionable look. "Might I ask your name?"

A hoove pawed at the ground. She was half testing it, to see if it hurt to move. "Yes, I am okay though, thank you." Her golden face blushed with more rouge at his comment. Seeming as if it mattered to him if she was hurt or not. Was he flirting with her? She smiled and laughed nervously, turning her eyes up to one side.

"Well yes." the color faded to normal in her face and her cool returned. With a polite nod, she accepted his name and offered her own. "I am Ayelet Hashachar." The morning star, with the sunrise coat. "Rajiv, thank you for your concern." she nodded towards him with one, deep nod. A clue curl flopping in front of her face. She raised her head up, the lone curl sliding back downside her ear.

Watching her as she tested her injured leg, he smiled warmly as she confirmed she was alright, nodding. "You're quite welcome." He chuckled, head tilting just a bit, feeling slightly pleased at her blush. He hadn't tried to cause such a reaction on purpose, but it still pleased him to know that he could still do so with just a bit of effort. Or rather, none at all, as the case seemed to be.

He glanced away as well, eyes sweeping the lands about them absently. He could see his forest in the distance, a dark blot on the horizon of the landscape. It was good to escape it now and then. "It is a pleasure to meet you Ayelet Hashachar." He said, giving another short bow of sorts, eyes moving to settle on her face. "Such a unique name for a unique mare." Rajiv added with a smile before glancing away and about them once more. "What brings you here out all alone?" He asked, looking at her sideways for a brief moment before his eyes returned to scanning the area around them.

Ayelet watched his face as he watched his surroundings. Was he looking for something?

She didn't think much of it for a second. "Well Rajiv, it is the name of the morning star. It's the last star in the sky before the sun rises to it's home. You can call me Ayelet if you like." she spoke with a soft ring to her voice.

Thinking about herself as unigue, or her name, had never crossed her mind. She couldn't help but wonder why she was considered to be so. As she was thinking, she noticed him looking about their surroundings again.

"I am only here from aimless travels underneath the night sky. It carries my travels and guides my heart. Are you looking for something here?" she asked with a quizzical rise to her voice.

Listening to her explanation of her name, he couldn't help but give a small chuckle. "That is an impressive meaning for your name. Mine is much simpler." He told her, the amusement evident in his voice as he spoke. "It simply means striped." He added, smirking and seeming to find it fairly amusing. After all, it wasn't very original if you thought about it. But it fit him and that's all that truly mattered to him.

"Traveling with a guide of stars." Rajiv mused as his head turned and looked skyward, studying the very stars they had mentioned. "Perhaps I'll try wandering like that. I miss looking at the night sky. After all you don't see many stars beneath the trees." He continued, his voice soft, almost like he was talking to himself. Snapping out of his thoughts when he was asked a question a few moments later, Rajiv let his head lower so he could face her. "Oh? No. I wasn't really looking for anything in particular. Only some time in which to enjoy the evening." He explained, head tilting briefly before he shrugged.

He kept looking out around them because he was wary of the dangers that lurked both in and around his forest. Certain predators liked hunting at night as well as more gruesome creatures and he wouldn't want to be caught unawares. Especially not with a lady to watch out for.

Ayelet grinned as he spoke of his own name. "At least yours isn't a mouthful to say or explain." Her name was a mouthful, and she knew none that called her by her full name. It was used for introduction purposes only. She didn't expect anyone to use her full name anyways.

"Mmmm, the stars have never led me astray. Especially on clear nights when I can follow them so easily." She thought of the forest, and how she once feared traveling beneath their canopy. She didn't like the idea of not seeing her stars. Lucky for her, only the evergreens remained during this season, so it wasn't that bad. Although, it would be more of a challenge for her come spring.

"Since your out of the forest now, why not take the time to stroll beneath the stars?" It hadn't occurred to her, that he might not have the time at all, but rather, other things to tend to.
