Mort sighed as his son dragged him into the mall. From place to place he plodded along the darting boy, trying to keep him from dripping all over expensive clothes, toys and what not.

Alair on the other hand couldn't get enough. There were so many people and the food court made it smell yummy and there was that really cool car show in the middle of the isles. The boy's clothes were perfectly wrinkled and the shirt was even missing a button. A slight wet stain rimmed his collar and a few more patches dotted his shirt. The boy paid no attention to those though as he continued to dart from store to car to store.

Amidst the chaos of the mall strode two men, white haired both of them however the older one wore a fine suit of black with a tie, his skin like midnight sky. The other, wore clothing commonly found on high schoolers, with a plushie hanging out of a satchel bag and a few crystal pendants about his neck.

What made the younger one stand out more than the dark elf in the suit next to him was the prismatic qualities of his eyes and hair, and the gems ridging along his eyes and backs of his hands. Hal, the prismatic one stopped as he was almost run into by Alair, "Ah hey! Careful you're gonna run into someone and get hurt running like that."

Cordain, the lavender-eyed dark elf glanced back at the two scroll children and smirked, "Ah..."

Alair dragged a hand through his scraggley hair, grinning up at the teen. "Sorry!," he paused for a second before his eyes widened. "Hey......Do I know you?" He stared thoughtfully at the pair. As a hand drooped on his shoulder and the boy started.

Mort smiled uneasily, "Sorry about that," he muttered, eyeing the elf uneasily.
"Alair, I told you not to run off."

"Sorry papa."

Halcyon smiled at the boy warmly, "I don't know...I don't think we've met before..." he turned his crystalline gaze towards Mort then back to Alair, "Although I've been preeeeetty busy so we might have."

Cordain took a step forward and held his hand out to Mort, "I'm Cordain Vinataro, and this here is my son Halcyon Vinataro. How are you sir?" he asked, his voice was cool and in perfect clear control. The violet eyes watched every move Mort made with utter confidence and relaxation.

Mortimer squirmed under Mr. Vinataro's gaze. Nerviously the solid man shook hands. Coughing to clear his voice Mort tried to answer steadily, "I'm Mortimer and this is my son Alair Mortimer." He winced at what it sounded like but it was that or let the kid have no last name. It might work for an adult but a kid...

Alair grinned back. "Sorry. You just feel familiar," the penicillin kid explained. "Do you like cars?" he continued on excitedly. "Papa has an old truck but he doesn't like it to go fast but these can go really fast!"

Halcyon laughed a bit, "I have a car and I'm learning how to drive it, I even have a motorcycle..." he tilted his head as he blinked a couple times.

Cordain just rolled his eyes, "So Mortimer, any oddities about your son's birth or how it came to pass?" he ran a hand through white hair, he didn't show even the slight bit nervous or perturbed by the nervous man.

Mortimer jumped. Creepy elves and their creepy mind-reading. (Of course if Mort hadn't been quite so paranoid about the ..supernatural.. he probably would have realized the sheer oddity of claiming a tentacle haired, green skinned boy as his son...) As it was he shot the man a suspicious look. "Er.. yes... well... I guess a scroll would be odd.."

"Really!?" Stars practically began to dance in Alair's eyes at the older boy's admission. Alair practically burst with questions. "Cool!! What color is it? How fast does it go? Do you have to wear a helmet?" His hero worship of Halycon was all but sealed now.

Halcyon laughed a bit more, "It's a nice deep shade of midnight blue, it was clocked at two hundred thirty as its top speed but I haven't been allowed to take it anywhere that I could open it up all the way like that...Yes I do wear a helmet."

Cordain gave Mort a cold grin, his ears twitched a bit, "I see, so your son is just like Halcyon. My son there has a knack for crystals, and some really...inventive ways of using them as a weapon." he stretched a bit and watched Mort, obviously enjoying the man squirming. "You should bring your son over sometime, I'm in the pent house of the Vinataro Hotel in town. Well...in the top two floors of it. Helps owning the company and all with a majority share." Yup, he was THAT Cordain, the competition for the Hiltons. His violet eyes sparkled with mischief.

Alair nodded along with Halycon, hanging onto every word. Glancing down the line of vehicles he darted off, gesturing wildly for the crystal scroll to follow. "C'mere!" he called backwards as he narrowly missed a large lady laden with bags. Pulling up at a small, funny shaped car he grinned. It was set on three wheels, vaguely triangular and a very shiney silver color. The inside had only two seats and little room but the specs were impressive.

"This is the car I like best. Isn't it awesome? 6.2 liter V12, 200 mph top speed, lots of gas mileage, and it looks cool too. The three wheels makes it stand out. I guess it would be tippyer but I don't know... Maybe it'd be better in red, what do you think?"

Halcyon examines the car, "It's alright...not my kind of car though...I prefer something stable if I'm gonna have more than two wheels...not enough traction on this one for high speed on a road I'd say...but it might be decent enough for off-roading..."

Alair nodded, following along with the older boy's reasoning. "What's your favorite then?" the boy asked, wiping a drop away from his face absently.

He gave Alair a big grin, "The Firebird...it's a beautiful car and a classic...old, fast and just plain awesome looking especially with the black car and red and orange phoenix on the engine cover."

Alair nodded, hoping he looked like he knew what the older boy was talking about. Of course he did!

An confused look passed over his face. "Was that one of the cars here?"

Mort fidgeted, obviously a fish out of water. "Uh, sure..." he finally replied to the -elf!-. Why didn't he stay back on Earth?

Hal nodded his head back to Alair as he guided the younger boy to where the Pontiac Firebird sat, the original version, "This is the car I'm talking about Alair."

Cordain just grinned at Mort, "You know...My father was actually among the spartans for a time...and I've participated in both world wars..." he was enjoying the discomfort he was causing the man.

"Ohhhh..." Alair slowly walked around the car. "I like this better than this's year's model. It's less complicated. The new ones look like they try to hard to be cool," he commented absently as he wiped his face.

"Do you know how fast it goes?" Alair queried as he turned back to Halycon.

Mort fidgeted even more. "Is that so.." he said faintly.
