The moon was beginning its journey high into the sky. Its radiant glow cast a shine upon Izayoi's coat, and he always enjoyed being bright and eye-catching. This place where Kiri's lived, Nightshade Valley really didn't suit him. It was so dark, and mysterious. He had always wanted to travel away to a new world, and become its leader, ah how his dreams filled him with anxiety.

Nightshade Valley was a mysterious place. Izayoi didn't mind the nighttime, in fact he enjoyed it. It allowed him to think and reflect upon who he was and what he wanted to become. The daytime scared him. During the day there was not one drop of sunlight in this melancholy place.

Izayoi gave a loud yawn and stretched his front legs. He was growing to become a lazy Kiri, even at his young age. Maybe I should go for a walk? he thought to himself. Who knows what I could meet around this time at night.

It was a cool night, and Efiathe couldn't sleep. She was tired, yes, but she couldn't fall asleep, try as she might. Besides, Nightshade Valley was a nice place. Especially the sky; it was clear, with no clouds obstructing the lucent beams of the moon. She had been sitting there was quite awhile now, just watching the sky. The Kiri had a serious case of tunnel-vision, often being affixed (single-mindedly) on particular things that gained her interest. Anything else bored her.

What interested her the most, however, were beautiful things. Simply kinesthetically pleasing things wouldn't do, though. They would have to be unique, special. Their own brand of 'beautiful'.

Finally she stood, shaking her head to chase the tiredness away. Then she started walking; slowly at first, then into a trot. She didn't care where she was going, just somewhere else. Maybe there would be something...interesting out there tonight.

Izayoi stopped. Far away, he could hear the trotting of another Kiri. It had an elegant beat to it, certainly not one of a male Kiri. They always had a heavy gallop. He had quite a lot of experience with male Kiri's like himself, but he didn't really know many females. His gaurdians had always taught him that they were frail and beautiful beings. He had seen a few in his childhood, but had never really met one. What was she doing out at this time of night?

Izayoi's interest allowed him to follow her, just to make sure she was safe. Females surely wouldn't know how to put up a battle, would they? A light breeze fanned his face, his main blowing freely in the wind. The female seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere. No matter how hard he tried to follow her, he seemed to fall behind, and get stuck in things such as shrubs and branches. Trying to wriggle free, he found that he was making a lot of noise.

There was someone following her. Half-way through her journey to nowhere in particular, she'd noticed the watcher from the occasional rustling from the bushes, cracking of a few twigs here and there, and soft tapping of feet. She seemingly ignored it for a good while. She was in actuality rather intrigued by the stranger, and listened to the sounds he made. He'd come close then fall behind, then come closer again.

The loudest noises had just begun, though. And it didn't seem that he was moving forward, either. Her curiosity got the better of her, and she turned around, taking a good look at the watcher just as he'd wriggled free of his captor- a tree branch.

He was a Kiri. A ...Beautiful Kiri. Kiri were normally already very majestic and beautiful beasts, but this one was exceptionally so, in her opinion. Perhaps it was because of her low exposure to Kiri(she was a loner, hardly interacting even with her kind). His orange and lack striped coat had somewhat of a sheen to it, and his misty light grey-brown mane blew slightly in the night breeze, giving the stranger an even more majestic demeanor. She just stood and stared, her habit of tunnel-vision showing once more.

Izayoi stopped trying to come free of his trap. The female he had been following had realised he was there, and had turned around to look at him. She had the most mystifying green eyes, with a beautiful coat covered in splotches of all the most beautiful colors you could have on ones coat. She was truly amazing, and very stunning. Suddenly, all thoughts of boredom in Nightshade Valley left him. He was greatful for the moon to illuminate this path between them as he kept staring into her eyes.

Finaly, he snapped out of his trance and decided to do something about the silly position he was stuck in at the moment. Hello there. He said to her telepathically. I'm uh.. a little stuck, could you help me get free? He hadn't really spoken to a female this much before, much less asked for help. But the radiant glow she was emmiting was spectacular, and he couldn't help but think about becoming good friends with her.

She stood there motionless for a moment, stoned, before the other Kiri, before being jerked out of her thoughts by the voice of the stranger in her head. She oh'd in surprise to the action, realising she'd been totally absorbed in observing the other Kiri. Ah.. Yes, sure. She directed her thoughts to his mind.

So... Why exactly were you following me? asked Efiathe telepathically, genuinely curious. Why would a Kiri like him be following her so late at night? She nudged yet another branch away from his body, finally setting him free. So late at night, even. There was no anger or annoyance in her mind, simply interest. It looked like the gut feeling she had before about finding something of interest that night was right, after all.

Well, he said. Izayoi didn't know how to explain this. She nudged away the branches that were holding him. It tickled a little, but he didn't say anything because he liked the ticklish sensation. I couldn't sleep, and heard you walking by. I thought what would a young lady like you be doing out this late, and so I followed you to make sure that something dangerous didn't happen. She finaly managed to pull him free. He stood up proud and tall and stretched his neck.

Thanks, he said. He looked down at this mysterious female. She didn't even seem worried, or even upset that a total stranger like him was following her. A pretty thing like her would surely have some bad-hearted Kiri's tagging after her, so what made her so certain that he was harmless? I'm sorry for following you, he softly said. I didn't want to make you upset or anything...

He looked much better out of the tree, she decided, good humouredly. Tall and far more majestic than he was trapped in the branches, he was simply...mesmerising.

Ah, she laughed mentally. It isn't a problem. I'm not upset or anything, just curious. I couldn't sleep, so I went on a walk. As simple as that. She was honored by the male's good intentions, though. Following her because he was worried for her wellbeing..huh. No, I should be thanking you for your intentions. But.. Efiathe could not help but let out a small laugh. It seems that I ended up helping you after all. She said it all good naturedly, with no ill intentions at all. It was a little humorous how things turned out, after all. I'm Efiathe. What's your name?
PostPosted: Fri Oct 26, 2007 12:08 pm

Izayoi slightly blushed. Yeah, he said. Elfaithe was so beautiful when she laughed. Oh I'm Izayoi. Its a strange name though, isn't it? he said, while staring deep into Elfaithe's eyes. They were so hypnotising and pretty. He believed he could stare at them for the entire day if he didn't seem funny doing so. Pulling out of his gaze, he stared at the ground, where he pawed at a twig.

I haven't seen you around these parts, do you have a family elsewhere? Or are you alone? he asked, suddenly extremely curious about Elfaithe. Deep down inside he secretly hoped that she was alone, like him and so maybe they could settle down together and keep each other company. His tummy flourished at the thought of this.

No, She said, her eyes twinkling. It's a really nice name, Izayoi. She tested the name. It was. She wondered why Izayoi was acting so embarrassed around little old her... she herself was surprised at her composure when dealing with him; her mind was going to pieces...was she falling for a stranger she'd barely met? Eh? What was she thinking? She pushed the thought away into the recesses of her mind. It would not do to start feeling nervous in front of him now.

No, I'm alone. In fact, you're the first Kiri I have seen for a long, long time. Efiathe couldn't even remember her parents, and she'd only recently come here, whilst exploring and feeding her inquisitive nature. What about you?

Thank you... he said. He felt a rather happy feeling pass through his body as he suddenly felt nice and warm on this cool night. He had the terrible urge to nuzzle her with his nose, but held himself from not doing so. She was incredicbly cute, the way she looked at him.

Oh, I uhh.. He said, stuttering for the first time in his life. He had always been such a proud being, but now he felt nervous and insecure. Could it be that he had developed feelings for this girl? They had barely been talking for a few minutes...

I have a friend, Finn. He's a rather strange Kiri actually, a little hyper here and there.. he explained his interesting friend. He realised that other than him he didn't know many Kiris. Do you want to go for a walk with me on this full moon night?

Aah, no problem at all. It's not like I was busy or anything. Her eyes twinkled at the other Kiri.

He sounds interesting,
said Efiathe with a smile. Actually, meeting any other Kiri would be interesting in itself, but as her new acquaintance described his strange, high spirited friend, she said, He seems like a nice friend to have; I'd like to meet him someday. New encounters would be nice, yeah.

I'd love to, if you won't mind, she smiled. Tonight would be far more enjoyable than her previous solitary days.
