Kuyoja shifted on the spot, the naginata in hand as he examined it. It was sharp and not meant for beginners to use but was merely apart of his private collection. Once he had confirmed the weapon was in good shape he placed it back in its stand with the other large arrangements of weapons he had trained with.
Turning away he rolled a wrist, his bare feet padded across the wood flooring, he would wait for the student to arrive before gathering the equipment. It would be good to see how the student would react to menial work. His face bore no real emotion, even as he pushed his glasses back onto his face he went to sit at his desk, rereading his students name. Valens. DNA: Clydesdale.
Horse type? Seemed ironic as well appropriate that the child would be drawn to this form of fighting. He checked his watch nodding his head as he went back to scribbling on a piece of paper.

There was a sound that was likened to a herd of horses coming tromping down the hallway near to the classroom... then on passed it. Then a surprised yelp, "Kya! Wha? Ellie let go of my shirt I'm gonna be late to my... hey is that it?" The voice of Valens who was being drug backwards to stand in front of the door that he had gone on passed. He was a lucky boy that he'd gotten a smart sort of dragon. After all the pair balanced each other out it would seem.
The door opened up and Valens poked his head inside, looking around before he slipped inside. He gave a smile to the man, ears turning forward, "Hello." He greeted the teacher as he came into the room.
Ellie stepped inside the room after her boy, sitting down and boy politely to the teacher then set to looking around the room. There were all sorts of strange things in here, weapons and the like. She wondered if it were a smart idea to be allowing her boy to have his hands on such things? She would asked the teacher if she had a better grasp on the language, "Valens. Careful." She told him.
'Careful' was a word often needed so she knew it well and used it often.

Kuyoja looked up as the sound of his student tromped past and then backtracked to his door. He stood up slowly as he then turned to his chalk board and began writing down his name in large scrawl. Without even turning his back he spoke.
"Valens Sammael-Black, your on time." he said as the last of his name finally was written on the black board. Turning around finally the man observed his student his face stern though there was nothing angry about it.
"Punctuality is a grand skill, I am pleased you know it." He continued before his eyes slid towards Ellie. The dragon was magnificent, it pleased him to finally see one up close.
"tell me why you are interested in learning the Naginata. And what you know of the practice." He asked moving away from the chalkboard back to his desk to scribble something down on a piece of paper.

Valens swished his braided tail in a happy sort of way, "Heh, really? Thats great!" He sounded pretty surprised over the fact that he was on time. He was pretty bad when it came to things like this, then again Ellie was helpful in getting him class on time. Were it up to him he probably would have kept running in his rush to get to the class.
"Lets see... I only know that little blurb that was listed on your list of classes." He said after a moment's thought, "but I liked that it was cavalry thing so... that was why I wanted to learn." He sounded a little embarrassed over his answer but most anything that had to do with horses always interested him.
Ellie settled down at the door as if to guard it, tail swishing lightly as she watched the pair. The teacher didn't seem to bad, he had good eyes. She could only hope he would be able to deal with her enthusiastic boy.

Raising an eyebrow ever so slightly he then placed his hands behind his back, standing up straight he moved away from his student before motioning to a black bag that was lying beside the door.
"Young one, I fear you misunderstood. The Naginata is a weapon used against cavalry." He spoke calmly, patiently turning his head to look over the boy. "It is also the symbol of the female samurai. Do you still wish to learn this skill?" he asked looking like he didn't want to waste his time if the boy wasn't fully committed to it. "If so grab that bag and follow me. I will take you to the room across the hall and we will begin."

Valens blinked a couple times, head tilting to the side as the teacher explained the weapon to him. He'd be lying if he said he didn't just skim the explanation. He saw the word cavalry and was instantly interested... he blinked a couple times. Maybe that was why his father told him he should pick something else? He'd thought it was just his father not wanting him to have a dangerous weapon...
"O-Oh... wait... so its a weapon that is just for girls?" He asked. The fact that it was used against horses was bad enough but that it seemed to be for only girls... he found himself shifting on his hooves looking a bit unsure.
Ellie gave a dragon's version of a groan, this wasn't going well was it? Her boy really needed to learn to read things better.

Turning Mr. Tsuzuki faced his student. Without shaking his head or really dissagreeing with the boy he spoke.
"The weapon became favored by samurai who were female. Though it is widely used by both genders before women were allowed to become samurai and to this day are still used by both genders. " He explained pausing a moment before continueing. "I will make note to send you home with some information on the history of the weapon. " He spoke before moving back over to his desk to jot another note down on the piece of paper before taking a clipboard and attaching it to it. he then moved back to towards the doorway.
"Knowledge is also a weapon that can help you in battle." He spoke his tone even, "Now come. We have much to learn."

Valens turned his ears forward, listening closely. It was... a little scary to think of the idea that he was going to be using a weapon that was used against those of his DNA but still... he drew in a breath and then slowly let it out. Surely it wouldn't be as if the weapon would be out for his blood, he wouldn't be in danger wielding it, "Alright. Thank you, more information would be good." He would do this best to actually read it this time and actually see it for what it was and not see the parts of it that he wanted to see.
He instantly found himself following after his teacher when the man started for the doorway, "So where are we off too?" He asked curiously.
Ellie pushed up to her feet when the teacher approached, so they were moving again? At least the teacher would be going with her boy so she wouldn't have to worry about him getting lost. She would stay with them none the less. Just in case she were needed.

"At the moment no where." He replied looking out into the hall in disinterest. "If you would grab the black bag we can continue our journey towards the gym." he finished, though the gym was directly across from them, the door still shut. The lights out.
"Like any training it requires discipline. Focus. And patience. I will be testing you on all three aspects during our lesson today." He continued taking a step into the hallway and moving quietly to the gym door. He made barely a sound as he walked, as if each step he took had something muffling the sound of his footfalls.
Without waiting for Valens he opened the door and flicked the lights on. The room wasn't overlarge. For a gym it was quite small. Matts covered the floor already spread out for today's lesson.
"Make sure your ...hooves are clean before entering." He spoke moving to take his shirt off.

He nodded, rushing over to get the bag he was told to get and picked it up. He found himself very curious as to what the bag contained but decided that the focus thing the teacher was talking about and not to mention patience would no doubt apply to this as well.
Asking a bunch of questions as to what was inside. He clicked along after him, stopping outside the door so that he could sit down on the floor and lifted up his foot to look at his hooves. He brushed any dirt and mud out of them that he had in them, "Ok. I'm good." He said when they were sufficiently cleaned.
He hopped back up to his feet, grabbed the bag, and then looked inside of the gym. His ears turned forward as he looked around the room and then to the mats. No doubt it was because of them that he had to make sure to have clean hooves. Could be.
Ellie looked the way of the teacher to make sure it would be alright for her to go inside the gym, not wanting to be in the way of Kuyoja's class and teaching.

Tsuzuki now shirtless was well muscled, both hands and upper arms were wrapped in tensor like bandages a intricate dragon tattoo wrapping around most of his upper chest and down his arms. Taking his glasses off his blue gray eyes looked hard, most likely from years of training.
He then moved over to a cupboard that held a bunch of martial arts tops. Picking out his own he then began to put it on. Once finished he turned and noticed Ellie had waited outside the classroom.
"Silver one you may enter." He spoke softly though his voice seemed to carry throughout the room anyway. He would make a note to ask the dragon its name later on. He then returned to the cupboard and picked out one for Valens to wear.
"put this on. If you continue to have lessons with me, this will become your regular garb. Take any jewlery, watches, glasses off please. I will lock it up in one of our lockers to keep it safe during the lesson." He said moving to put his glasses in the locker he spoke of.
"Once you have changed you will be allowed to open the black bag and remove the weapons one at a time." He continued moving to then stretched his legs and arms. Inside the bag contained a long wooden glaive like weapon as well a long bamboo staff.

Ellie stepped into the classroom upon the invitation given moving to find a place to sit down so that she could once more watch the pair. The teacher seemed interesting, more so now that he was showing off a rather interesting design that was of dragons. Her eyes widened a bit, curious about what the marking may mean.
Valens looked himself over. He really didn't have anything to take off when it came to accessories, they presented to much of a danger of getting entangled when one was off doing physical things so he'd never really bothered with them. He took off the shirt he wore to exchange it for the one that he was offered by the teacher. The one he was handed was in far better condition, none of the normal wear, tear, and stains that covered Valens wardrobe.
"Special clothing? Sorta like a uniform?" He asked, wondering why one had to have special clothing for learning. He looked his other shirt over then walked over to put it into the locker. He didn't even have shoes to take off and leave in there he thought with a bit of a grin.
He gave a happy sound when he was told he could go and seen what was in the black bag that he had carried in. He was quickly trotting over that way, eager to take out the items. He paused at the bag, about to open it when he looked over at the teacher, "Erm... should I do that?" He asked, referring to the way the man was stretching out.

Kuyoja didn't pause as he stretched.
"You will be getting to this in a moment. I wish you to look upon the weapon you are going to learn how to wield." He instructed twisting his body around the sound of his spine realigning with a pop.
"There should be two glaive type weapons in there. One made of wood and one of bamboo. Take both out and tell me what you think of them." he continued, "Which do you think is the weapon you will be learning with in this class?" he asked wondering how observant the student of his was.

Valens's ears gave a bit of a twitch when somewhere in the man's body suddenly gave a loud popping sound. So he was gonna be snap, crackle, and popping to he wondered idly before he opened up the bagk.
He blinked a couple times as he listened to the question posed to him by the teacher and drew the items that he had spoke of out of the bag to look them pair of them over. Which would he be using for the class, huh?
He examined them a moment more then said, "Ahhh... this one." He waved the wooden one that was in his left hand, "At least I hope, I think I would break the other one." The bamboo felt lighter and even when he tried to be careful he broke things that were delicate...

Stopping finally he straightened his body and turned to face Valens. "Unfortunately you are incorrect. You misjudged the strength of the bamboo. It may be lighter, but you need to train you body to get use to the added weight before moving onto the heavier wooden naginata." He said his hand reaching out for the wooden weapon palm upwards as if asking the boy silently to hand it over.
"Bamboo has been used for centuries for practice in many forms of martial arts and ninjitsu. You will learn how to weild the bamboo first. Once you have gained enough control with the weapon we will advance you to wood. Understand?"
