"Hope" is the thing with feathers-- That perches in the soul-- And sings the tune without the words-- And never stops--at all--
And sweetest--in the Gale--is heard-- And sore must be the storm-- That could abash the little Bird-- That kept so many warm--

1. What is it about? Hope 2. Who is “speaking”? A person who is familiar with feeling hopeless 3. What poetic and sound devices are used? It rhymes at some point, the punctuation makes the rhythm different 4. Is there a major symbol? Explain The bird as hope 5. Is there an important metaphor? Explain. Not really a metaphor, the bird symbolizes hope 6. Identify a striking image or emotion The bird is little and gentle, but strong.
