I decided it'd be nice to have a place to put up the scams you've recieved to better inform the public.

Here's one I got a few minutes ago.

I seen one of those, hackers use those to trick you into giving them a password to you're account, changing it and taking everything from you....sigh I lost so much too, but as they say, trick me once shame on me, trick me twice shame on you. Note to everyone: NEVER GIVE YOU'RE PASSWORD AWAY OR GIVE IT TO ANYONE, NOT EVEN FAMILY.

That's how your first account got hacked? Geez. Not gonna give away my password, that's for sure.

Never family! Family is known to get angry, and want revenge... The minion wants to raise awareness for how people get hacked, and what scams are in use.

Knowing is half the battle!

Let's clear something up. Hackers, are computer programmers, who manipulate code to do things it was not originally intended for. Scammers, and/or people who somehow manipulate code to steal passwords, or damage data are actually rejected by the main hacking community, who seem to be, at most times, rather elitist in that only the better programmers can become a member of the community. People who use code to damage code are more commonly referred to as 'Crackers' They 'Crack' a system to cause damage, with or without a motive. No true hacker would reduce themselves to doing such a thing, or fear chastisement and even rejection from the hacking community. Still, Never give your password to anyone, that is simply asking to have your account stolen. I've even had a couple stolen that way.

Thank you, because I do minor hacking (That's why i take offence to you blaming hackers).
The True Culprits are those who just know how to design an email (Even a 5th grader can do that) and they are scammers, a hacker would take your password of the Active Directory server of gaia, but if they were gonna put that much effort in then they would just make copies of the files and make it almost untracable

hack·er: /ˈhækər/ (n.) 1. a person or thing that hacks.
2. Slang. a person who engages in an activity without talent or skill: weekend hackers on the golf course.
3. Computer Slang.a. a computer enthusiast.
b. a microcomputer user who attempts to gain unauthorized access to proprietary computer systems.

Basically, the methods are diffrent, but the motives are the same. Getting something with out working for it the same way others work for it in a game.

Or would just hack into the gaia system and give them selves massive amounts of gold, another action I do NOT approve.

And, the reason I came back to this thread in the first place... I encountered another scam, one that won't devistate your account but could wipe out a lot of money from your invintory.

During my normal corse of market running, I got a message saying, 'i will give u mi dark halo 4 your tome and gift of the goddess'. Obviously, the Dark Halo is worth much more than the Gift of the Goddess, and so many people will quickly say yes and start a trade. In their haste, they won't notice it is not a Dark Halo they're recieving, but a Black Rose Band, an item worth much, much less than the Gift of the Goddess.

I was talking to Shikamaru (Ryuho Kitsune) when I got this message and we both came conclusion that I was trying to be hacked. So I reported it because it is stupid that they try to pull this stunt.

Actually I was just infromed that it's not a Hacker, but a scammer, the reason is that we have a resident Hacker who is a friend of mine in the guild who takes offence when a hacker is blamed for scams that rely on the ignorance of the prey, and not the challange of breaking the security passcodes on the servers

Sorry Shikarmu. I guess I was worried that it was going to be a hacker instead of a scammer. My bad. ^-^;

Just to let you know that hacker friend is me. Trust me Hackers HATE scammers because the give us a bad name. Basically no site will ask for your password through an email, because it is stored inside their active directory servers

^-^; Sorry. Hackers basically know how to get around the stuff needed while scammers are just trying to take the sleezy route. I don't know anything about hacking or scamming. So sorry my kind of noobish behavior.
