It was a warm summer day for Nihls return to the park, one of the few time's he'd come back here without being here to play his violin. To be perfectly honest, he found it somewhat sweltering, and might have prefered to come here at night, when his somewhat cadaverous complexion and alarming eyes, but for the sake of his distinctly more diurnal company, he'd braved the outing, even shedding his trademark heavy coat, though he still wore a button down shirt and a waistcoat, an gold pocketwatch chain draped across his stomach. Quinlan, twirling around and humming, looked almost grecian gone technicolor, with his braided purple hair and blue tunic, and also looked far more at home in the sunlight, which gave his healthy complexion an warm glow, and brought a sparkle to his bright pink eyes, in spite of the slightly melancholy appearance his expression tended to take when he was at rest.

"QUUUUINLAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!" The rousing cry came from a purple blur as it tackled the grown seelie. Jasmine giggled brightly as she clung to her favorite friend. "Hi! I have a new brother and mummy has a new orby!!"
"Giving away my surprises, Jasmine dear?" Bella walked up with a smile to her friends. In her hand was a dark green and red orb with the image of a holly branch inside. Behind her was a lovely young undrea whom peeked out from behind her shyly. One webbed hand clung to her dress while webbed ear like things listened to the sounds of his sister at play.
Lotus didn't make much of an effort to say hi, he merely stayed with Bella. This was his first real outing away from the stream and Bella's cabin.

"YEOWP!" Quinlan yelped in startlement as he was caught off guard by Jasmine's enthusiastic greeting, flying sideways in a flurry of bright colors between the two of them, rolling in the grass as they landed, Quinlan laughing as he sorted things out, though Nihls was peering out from raised arms, half having expected a minor war to break out in the middle of the park. It did seem though that something of Quinlan was finaly influencing the grey violinist, as his waistcoat seemed to have a very subtle embroidery of pink and green flowers and vines on the grey fabric, and the ribbon he'd used to tie back part of his unruly, steel colored hair was deep green instead of black. It was a very small thing, but for Erik, it was an massive leap. "Bella!" Nihls noted in startlement, eyes widening in surprise, like Quinlan, his odd colored eyes looked even brighter in sunlight, perhaps because his pupils reacted more vigorously to sunlight than did most. "Apparently she is, by Lilith." He blinked in open surprise at her new 'children', the orb and the Undrea, then in customary etiquite, bowed to the young man. "A pleasure to make your aquaintence then. A freind of Bella's is a freind of mine, I hope." "Hello!" Quinlan called over, grinning from ear to ear and trying to tickle Jasmine. "Isn't it a beautiful day?"

Bella smirked at her hyper child as she squeeled at Quinlan's tickling. "It is a lovely day, which is why I thought a walk in the park might do the children some good." Bella herself was dressed in a tantalizing mid-drift that showed the smooth planes of her stomach. It had no neck or shoulders, merely wrapping a bit around her upper arms. Her skirt was long but slit up one side to reveal a pale leg. She pushed Lotus forward with a firm but gentle hand. "Lotus, this is my good friend Erik Nihls and his son Quinlan. Erik, Quinlan, this is Lotus, a Kappa undrea."
Lotus eeped a bit as he was pushed forward. He was hardly as forward as his dear sister and bowed a little bit towards Nihls. "A pleasure." The he scooted back against Bella.
The woman patted his hair a bit. "He is still a bit shy, apparently his former caretaker abandoned him. To think Erik, that someone wouldn't want this beautiful being in their lives. It pains me to think of him being so alone."
Meanwhile Jasmine was relating how Bella found Lotus out by their stream and how he was now her brother. And how they found the orb hidden in the holly bush that grew close to the house. "So now I'm a big sister and I'm gonna take care of them! But Lotus is always really shy, so I have to make him come out and play with me. He lives in the straem instead of the house cause he's a water spirit of some kind." And of course she says all this in the fast five-year old speach.

"It's a bit bright, for my taste, but Quinlan adores it." NIhls admitted, smiling faintly, and forcing his eyes back up from the breif wander they had gotten away with. She really was an stunning woman, and the way she dressed, he wasn't quite sure if she was aware of the effect she had on people or not. His smile turned a bit pained at the mention that the Kappa had been abandoned. He hadn't been aware these creatures could be, though it stung to hear that it was the case. "I'm sorry to hear that, I can vouch he's in much better hands now though." He noted.
Quinlan hugged Jasmine, grinning and trying to stand up. "Is he? Thats really neat! Do you really live in the water? I just live in a big house, with Nihls. It's really dusty and there's bats..." "Quinlan.....there are no bats in the house." Nihls corrected, embarassed by this. "What about the..." "The one that came down the flue was -lost-. Bats do that sometimes, and I put it back outside, remember?"

"Ah but you look so handsome in it." She smiled brightly at the man as sunlight played off her shiney raven colored hair. She patted Lotus's head a bit as he looked up at the woman at the mention of his new caretaker.
"She has been nice to me. And..eep!!" He clung a bit to Bella as Quinlan approached with so many questions. "I like the water better, my fish friends live there."
Bella grinned and walked him towards a large fountain, she could tell he was getting a little uncomfortable with all the new people. He was more than happy to take a dip as Bella sat on the edge with the orb. "So other than my growing family, how have you been Erik?"
Jasmine huffed a bit as Lotus was allowed to hide in his little water pool. "Lotus always hides in the water. But lets play a game Quinlan! What should we play?" He happy pixie wrapped her ribbons around one of Quinlan's arms.

"No I don't." Erik chuckled, though he was flustered and flattered. "I look like the living dead." especially compared to her, which made him even more aware of his own wasted and grey complexion and stark, starved phyisque.
Quinlan tipped his head in open facination at the idea of making freinds with fish, his bright pink eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Really? I've never made freinds with a fish, you'll have to tell me what it's like!" He was then distracted by Jasmine, moving to spin the two of them around. "I know! I know! Lets go play on the merry go round!"
"I'm glad to hear it." Nihls noted seriously, to Lotus, taking a seat on the edge of the pool, eyes squinted against the blinding reflections from the clear water. "I've been doing alright. I've managed to stay out of trouble. I've had to visit a few more notable courts, but Quinlan hasn't come to any harm, for which I'm grateful. I think they're a little afraid that I'm hiding a power from them, and no one wants to come right out and ask if I can inflict a casting of "Majesty" on them or not. It's not how the game is played, as it were."

"Yeah! The merry-go-round!" Jasmine had endless energy, which was probubly a good thing considering Quinlan's energy levels. She fluttered her way over to the big contraption and sat down on a horsey. "Wheeeeeeeee!!! Come on Quinlan! Wheeeee!"
Lotus watched the two go but he didn't wish to join them, this merry-go-round looked a bit dangerous. And the animals on it scared him. He simply enjoyed the warm sunlight and the cool water in which he swam.
"Sounds ever so much more exciting than my life. First I found sweet Lotus here, then, while getting ready to trim my holly bushes I found this little orb stuck in the branches. I know it wasn't there before, it seems someone had left it. I am thinking of calling it Mistletoe, as it seems to relate to the same season as the holly bush." She held up the orb for Erik to see, unsure of what to make of this one. Jasmine had simply arrived with a note. This one also looked abandoned. "It pains me to think there are more abandoned creatures or orbs out there. How could their caretakers be so unloving to something they are suppose to be raising."

"They do because it doesn't occur to them to care. Once upon a time, it might have been because they did, or at least they would tell themselves so, now-days, it seems more that people do so because they don't understand that there is a consequence to what we do. Even amoung the kindred there's so many -more-.... Once upon a time great thought was given to what we did, now there's so many of us...a lot of people think the prophesys in the book of Nod are coming to light, that creatures like me are proof." He rested his chin on a tucked up knee, gazing off into space as he considered this, sadly.
Quinlan: unware of the whistfulness of the man behind him, charged with Jasmine to the MerryGoRound, eager to go for a wild spin, especially now that he had legs to run with and help make the merry go round spin. It was a particularly impressive merrygoround, especially when you were used to only seeing the ones with amazing horses at circuses and carnivals, and he -adored- it. "I bet I can make it go fast!"

"Make it go really fast Lan-lan!!" Jasmine clung to the bar to make sure she didn't get flung off as she prepared to go fast.
"Um...what...what is a.....kindred?" Lotus's soft voice wafted over to Bella and Nihls as the scarlet water sprite slowly swam over. He had a curious glint to his eye.
"Well, despite your thin blood I am glad for it. I have made a good friend that I don't have to hide my real self from." Bella smirked a bit at the small ones question. That was the other thing about Lotus she liked. Despite his fear and shyness, he was still curious if he thought he could be safe.

"I'll try!" Quinlan anounced, grabbing the nearest handhold and lurching forward, trying to get the Merrygoround up to speed.
Erik looked somewhat less than certain at Lotus's question clearing his throat faintly, and answering Bella first. "I'm glad, I have as well. I've learned to regard that very highly over the years." He cleared his throat again, trying to find a good way to answer Lotus. "....Kindred...are another name for vampires. The...collective name for all the bloodlines. You're...unlikely at best to meet a full blooded vampire of any clan in this area."

Lotus still had a curious expression on his face as Erik spoke. "Um...but don't vampires burn up in the sun? You said you were one, but you aren't burning up? And do you not like garlic?"
Bella smiled, Lotus must like Erik to ask him so many questions. When he got interested in something he usually wanted to know everything about it. Bella had a time finding things to keep him occupied but she had done well enough with Jasmine's help. She let Erik do all of the explaining while she enjoyed the warm sun on her pale skin.
"WHEEEEEE!!!" Jasmine squeeled in delight as the merry-go-round started to move. She even tried to help a bit by flapping her little pixie wings and pushing with all her little might. "maybe if we go really fast, we can travel through time Lan-lan!"

"...Er....Vampires do. And...I'm not fond of it." He struggled for a way to explain it. "My father was a vampire. My mother was human. I'm...part and part. It's unusual and for good reason... And I like garlic just fine." He smiled faintly, having to admit he was faintly amused by the questions. "I'm also wearing sunblock, or I would get a very bad sunburn. It's very bright by my eyes." He explained, gesturing faintly.
"Could we? That would be AMAZING!" Quinlan anounced, panting as he pushed the Merrgygoround slowly faster. Erik could be amazingly fast, he'd seen it once from behind a curtain, but he said it was a 'gift' or something similar. A vampire thing and that it made him very tired. "What would we do if we did do you think?"

"I read in Ms. Bella's book that there are all these ways that vampires get hurt. Like a stake through the heart. Is all that true? Does being a part-and-part hurt?" He was intensely curious now.
"He is a very curious child. Always full of questions." Bella patted Lotus's dark brown head. He smiled softly up at her then turned his attention back to Erik.
"Maybe by the cars would FLY! And and and people used jet packs to get around too!! That would be so neat!!" She squeeled at the childish idea, not realizing that it was nigh impossible for them to do that.

"Oh Vampires certainly can be hurt, a Stake through the heart won't actually kill most of the very old ones, unlike the legends, but it can put them in something like a coma, then you can kill them fairly easily. The sun can kill them, fire can kill them, so can loosing their head...do them enough damage and they'll die, it's just...very difficult as they're already dead." He joked slightly at this, though it was a serious matter. "...It doesn't hurt. But it's very..... very...." He didn't know quite how to put it. "...I've only heard of others like me. I've never met one, though I know others exist." He crossed long, spindly fingers across his lap. "There's nothing wrong with questions. We just become more afraid to ask them when we get older, usualy." He agreed with Bella.
Quinlan laughed, in spite of the effort to spin the merry go round, getting it going as fast as he thought he could, until he was half sure he'd fall and get dragged along, then jumped on, clinging to one of the bars and the pomel of one of the horses as they spun wildly. "Jetpacks? I'd be worried about using a jet pack. Unless they were in your shoes like in "Batman Beyond". I like that show! Nihls reminds me of Old Batman. He doesn't think thats funny though."
