Time had sped along quite happily for the female lioness. Having her eldest daughter and grandcubs around was a delight for her, joys never ceased in the fatc that she also had her own cubs to care for. Six beautiful little bundles whom she called her own, each so different from her previous litters, each with a personality of their own and each with a happy new take on their lives.
She lay happily at the watering hole, knowing that her family was safe int he care of her mate, her daughter and Hasani's capable paws, she lay at the waterside with her forepaws deep in the dark, sticky mud of the waters banks. She was reminded blissfully of home, of her old home, a place she could not return to though she vbarely cared these days, there were more important things in life than traditions, her cubs were atop that list.
Sighing gently the khaki lioness relaxed further allowing the cool waters to trickle along her toes and the mud to mingle with her fur.

Ukoo had been watching her grandmother laze in the watering hole-where she knew the fishies were. Her little hind end wiggled from her hiding place-where the brush and the grasses swayed in the breeze-and Ukoo loved it. She blinked her lovely masked, crimson eyes at her grandmother-seeing that she was sleepy… And Ukoo had the urge to jump on her grandmother. But-Ukoo was tired and weary. Her first few nights of sleeplessness was dragging her tiny body down and only a few times-did she have a peaceful dream. She stood up and wandered quietly as she could-towards her grandmother. Oooh, she was going to get her.
Ukoo was in such a state of happiness that she started to hum a tune-one soft and sweet as her little face. Hmmmm. Gammamama, ish sheepin’ and Ukoo’s cweeeepin Escaped her mouth, her tiny paws sticking the muck that her grandmother enjoyed so much.
Ukoo liked the mud, only cause it was squishy and she could wiggle her toes in it. Too often, she could be found wiggling her toes in it, singing about how her toes were stained like she played in mud all the time. Sometimes she would splat two happy paw prints on one of her brothers faces-so they looked like her little eyespots. This pleased her… To make her brothers like her.

Only Ila's emerald eyes betrayed her excitement. Flashing eagerly, they followed Ukoo's path through the mud as the youngest cub crouched, her dark brown belly making a dent in the loamy earth. Hidden as she was behind a thin clump of grass, it was only fair, Ila thought, that someone should pounce Ukoo, since her own intentions seemed to be to pounce Mother. She resisted her muscle's natural urge to spring forward, fighting the impulse as long as possible. "Neeeeeeow!" She meowed, finally releasing the pent up energy within her. Unfortunately, her own patience betrayed her. She had stayed too long in one spot, and hadn't realized she'd sunk nearly elbow-deep into a soft patch of mud. Her hind paws thrust forward, while her front paws remained lodged in the earth, pitching her face-first into the mud.

Kikawaida smiled knowingly as she heard her little granddaughter approaching, laughing softly she pretended she hadn't heard her approach. It was okay to be pounced by playful cubs, it made her happy to see them enjoying htemselves.
Of course at the splooshing sound of her youngest daughter the Khaki lioness had to move,s he licked Ukoo on the head before retreiving her rather muddy cub fromt he soggy dirt.
Laying back int he spot she had relinquished to retreive her child she lauy with her back against the waters edge and placed Ila between ehr forepaws. "Shouldn't you two be with your fathers?" she smiled, gentle pink eyes glimmering happily. She was acctually glad of the company depite this being one of her restful moments alone. Every mother needed a break after all, but she could easily cope with two tiny girls out for an explore.

Ukoo was going to get her grandmother so badly-but the noise behind her confused her and she turned to see Ila stuck. She giggled, her tiny rump shaking side to side. She laughed, stamping her tiny feet in the muddiness of the ground, spinning in a small circle with her mouth in huge grin. Her eyes snapped up too her grammy when she felt her tongue touch her forehead and she turned to watch Gramma pick up her cousin. She chuckled and followed Kika, stepping rather large steps in an attempt to seem like a big lioness like grammy.
Sadly, it only made her look like she was walking silly. Nuuu, Daddy sweepin' 'gain. She said, prancing around in the mud beside Kika's side.
Ukoo can take cares of hers'self... She said, looking at her grandmother matter of factly... but the fact was, she tried to nap with her father-but she had another funny dream... and she didn't want to sleep again. So, she was awake.... and she was gonna play with Ila maybe.

Ila rolled over on her back, batting playfully at her Mother's nose. "Daddies are boring. He sleeps all the time." She said, as if that answered everything as she scrambled up to her feet again, the mud barely visible against her own dark coat. "I woulda had you Ukoo!" Ila said, hopping up and then falling immediately into a new crouch, now careful as to where she placed her feet.

Kikawaida smiled softly and looked at Ukoo, independance, it frightened her, the need to be alone and to care for oneself. She supposed Ukoo was like her mother, it had always frightened kikawaida, the want to roam, to see everything but her oldest daughter had always been that way. Still it worried Kikawaida that her little granddaughter seemed tired. A gentle smile graced her maw "you know Ukoo, you don't have to be alone, your mother and father are always willing to listen and so am I." She puurs laying down and pulling both cubs to her chest.
Smiling at Ila she sways her long tail. "Would you like me to show you both how to pounce properly hmm?" The older lioness looked between her youngest daughter and her youngest granddaughter. While they were awake she might as well have fun with her cubs.

Ukoo laughed at her cousin, reaching out a paw to her. Ukoo loved contact, to be touching or be touched. She loved it so much, that she was often found reaching out with her tail or her paw to pat a sibling or parent, just to do it for attention or to show affection. She giggled, looking up at her grandmother with a smile. I knowsh gammama. I not alone She said, looking over her shoulder at her grandmother-a bit of a confused look on her face. At this point in her life, Ukoo thought everyone had these types of night dreams... it didn't occur to her that she was not supposed to dream like that all the time.
It wasn't right.
She giggled excitedly and stood up, her bottom wagging. Oh yesh Gammama... I wanna learns. She squeeked.

Ila purred happily, rubbing her cheek against Ukoo as they both lay clasped against her mother's warm fur. "Ukoo won't be alone! Why would Ukoo leave? Where would she go?" Ila asked in a rush, the very idea of her favorite playmate not being around caused a strange tense feeling in her chest. Her mind wandered for a moment as the very questions she asked caused her to wonder... just what WAS out there in the rest of the world? It must be pretty big, she reasoned. What if there were even places with no mud? She recovered herself quickly though, at the offer of pouncing lessons. Hopping up, she pranced over to Ukoo and playfully nipped her ear. "Yeah! Teach us Mum!"

Kikawaida smiled and a little tinkly laugh rolled over her lips as she stook, extracting herself fromt he mud, she cared not if she was dirty, the mud was always a favourate placefor the x swamp lioness. "Come then" She whispers turning off towards some long grass.
"We'll have to find someone for you to pounce first." She laughs gently her soft pink eyes glimmering. "Mkugenzi!" She called through the lengthy fronds "Mkugenzi. will you come and help me my friend?" She whispers perking her ears, hoping to hear someone approaching.
Sjhe smiled looking down at the two cubs. "I forgot you've never met Mkugenzi, you must be nice to him, he has a funny accent but he's nothing but sweet" She puurrs, jer soft gaze searching over the grasses. "maybe he didn't hear me, help me call for him girls."

Ukoo smiled at her cousin Ila-she was one of her favorite cousins cause she was fun and liked to play with Ukoo. SHe didn't understand what her cousin was saying so just smiled at her-waving her little hind end around. She waddled along after her grandmother, looking around. She perked up when she heard her grammy talking about poucing. She looked to Ila and panted happily at her.
She stopped in mid stride and spun in a circle, looking around for something called an 'Mkugenzi'. She crinkled her nose, not sure what he would look like but she tried her hardest. SHe spotted a lizard and wondered if that was a 'Mkugenzi'.
Miikzugensi!' She called out

Ila did her best to imitate her Mother's call, her neck stretched out and her ears perked forward, she called out the difficult to pronounce name. "Makugsi!? Er... Kugasi? Hello?" Her head tilting left and right, she scanned the area before her, but was distracted by Ukoo's waving tail. Forgetting their pouncing lessons for the moment, she bounded up and swatted it playfully.

"Awroight awroight Oima comin!" A broad accented voice echoed through the tall grass, the brittle fronds moving quite clearly as something made it's way through the dry wavy grass.
After a moment or two, a genet appeard, dark green in colour, with eyes of dark olive he looked between the cubs then up to the large lioness. "Oi was sleepin' yanno?" he grinned and pottered up to Kikawaida his tail flicking back and forth. "Wut can oi be a doin' fer ya lassy?"
Kikawaida chuckled and nudged her little friend on the forehead with her nose. "I wonder if you can help us Mkugenzi, the girls want to learn how to pounce." She grins broadly.
"Wull, i aint 'zakly no exper.." He trailed off and raised a brow. "Yanno oi seem ta remember ye doin' this afore ta me lass! An tha last toime, kinamasi bruised moi bum pretty gud yanno?"
Kikawaida giggled gently her soft voice soothing. "I know, and you'll be helping her daughter out." She pointed at Ukoo. "This is my grand daughter Ukoo and my daughter Ila."
Mkugenzi looked bwteen the two cubs and kikawaida and chuckled. "She's ere then? Oive been gone ta long oi ave! Yanno cubs oive known this ere famly fer about fereva an' Oive watched a bunch o cubs born an raised." he cleared his throat looking between them. "OPi be guessin' oi can 'elp yas ta learn ta pounce." He grunted a smile playign on what seemed for a long time like a every grumpy maw.

Ukoo blinked around and squinted her eyes- thrying to find this mysterious creature and to pounce on it... like grammy said too. She blinked up at her and then looked to ILa as her tail was batted at and she laughed aloud-swatting at her Ila... before a deep voice spooked her. She turned to stare at the Genet call Mku-and her little nose scrunched up in a smlie. This was what a Mkugenzi was.
Hi! She said pleasently-turning from Ila fully to stare at the green creature curiously

Peering around from behind Ukoo, Ila tried to wrap her brain around what language the little Genet was speaking. He seemed to go on for quite a long time. She could make out her Mother's words, so she knew Kika understood the little creature. He stopped and seemed to address Ukoo and herself. "Um... Hello." She said, her eyes wide as she replied in what she hoped was a proper response. "Can you understand him?" She asked Ukoo in a none-too quiet whisper.
