We need a contest in this guild, I think.
Unfortunately, it's difficult to have a contest that revolves around reading, unless it's a speed-reading contest.
So I want your suggestions. Prizes will be awarded. Nice Prizes.
Post!

What about longest or weirdest title of a book you've read (not just seen)? Weirdness could be judged by vote.

Yukio-Vil and thomas pynchon would be a guy with a block on his head.... lol Heheh, or maybe just a gray, deleted avatar. Funny you should say that; I just read my first Pynchon novel this past week.

not to hijack, but what was it? I love pynchon, when he's readable. My first was Crying of Lot 49. I feel like rereading it... it was great.

Yep. It was The Crying of Lot 49. I read it in Contemporary American Writers. I know I need to read it again to understand it better.

how about a quotes contest? We can have two people at a time try and hold a conversation useing just quotes (( site the quotes too, so we know you aren't just pulling it out of nowhere))
Or maby an old book contest? Whoever can find the oldest book in their house. The person with the oldest book wins! (( by print date of that spesific book, not publication. I would rather not have a ton of people run out with bibles))

How about a book title contest? Someone names the title of a book and the next one has to start with the last letter of the one before it. The first to keep their post last for the set time wins.

BUT, Betony does!

Post! That would work, but what about dirty-lying-cheaters? You can't prove someone read something without seeing it happen. Not over the internet, anyway. Thinking about that last statement gave me an idea. Just because this is a reading guild doesn't mean the contest has to involve reading, this isn't a cheesy school assignment, where you have to stick to the subject. This is Gaia, where if you don't bend and twist you'll be left in the dust. Oh, and sorry I posted 3 times in a row.
