'Mother?' Neve huffed as she called out again for Izusa, the hairs along her neck still standing on end as she surveyed the scene around her. The air was heavy with the sickly sweet scent of death, small animal death it was, for the tree enclosed clearing was decorated with drying bones.

Even for her it was a tad...creepy. She rolled her eyes. This was really no good. If she was going to give Marius a good shock to his overly composed system, she would need her mother to actually be in her hideaway. Well, she could bring him here at least. Her mother's scent was heavy, as though she hadnt been gone long, and so she would bring the stallion by and hope she got lucky.

She turned on her hooves and ducking under a low branch, clipped away to see if she could find Marius. She would start where she saw him last.

A pair of pale eyes stared out from the shadows, and Izusa silently watched her daughter go. Hidden by the foliage, the tendrils on her tail moved sinously, like so many venomous snakes. Her eyes flashed with something...

Marius often did not question how he acted around others, his own opinions, or the actions of others. He assumed that these all came naturally and weren't questionable at all. But after meeting a certain mare... The tallion grimaced at the thought, walking around the lake, his eyes on his reflection. Since then, he was more observant about how othersacted around him, specifically certain female friends. If his one guy friend started acting that way, he would certainly go back to the mountains. He was not going to dea with that.

He had questiond his own opinion about companionship and "love", but dismissed the mental arguement. It was still a silly subject. It was horrendously silly compared to the fact that Neve wanted him to meet her mother. The tall male had not he slightest idea what that meant, but all he knew was that she was a Kalona.

But... Her daughter was half-Kalona... She couldn't be that bad. The frown on his face grew abit at the thought. It still was not a walk in the park to meet one. But~! He had yet to see Neve in a few days... Maybe she would have forgotten?

'No,' he sighed audibly at the thought. She wouldn't. And in a way... His opinion was to be questioned again. He'd be lying if he claimed he wasn't curious.

Neve snapped out at a fly that was doing a dizzy dance around her head. She knew she was almost near the Lake by the smell of water nearby, and by the denseness of the grass under-hoof. She had a better sense of direction on the wing, but she was more certain to see Marius if she travelled over ground, and she didnt want to spend an entire day looking for the stallion. It would ruin her sport if she had to search all over the place for him.
'Lake..lake..' she muttered, cresting a hill and seeing the body of water she flicked the curls of her tail and fell into a steady canter, only slowing when she was almost at the banks.
'Swirls!' she grinned, the impish look returning as she spied the one stallion she had hoped to find here. She preened her wings quickly and wandered over in his general direction, making out that she had just been passing, and had definately, definately not been searching for him.

The dark stallion did not hear anyone in the vicinity at first, the only sound entering his ears the sound of his own steps. But a rustling sound interrupted his train of thought. A tree branch? No, there was a little wind... 'Feathers?' He thought, looking around. Was Maui or Aureate around? His eyes scanned the area, and his eyes landed on a dark red mare. He stared at her impassively for a moment, registering the face and the build.

Neve.

He did not forgot their last meet; if anything, it haunted him. Did she frequent this spot often? It was twice now she had happened upon him here... Perhaps it would be best to stop coming here for a while... No, no. He frowned mentally at the thought. He knew it would bug him more if he just stopped going somewhere because a certain someone was often there. He cracked a small smile in her direction, the hairs on the back of his neck nearly standing on end. He had a very good feeling about why she came.

"Neve," he called, taking a few steps towards the mare, his eyes guarded. He knew she had seen the fear in his eys before, but he wouldn't let her see past his sheild this time.

'Marius,' she replied, in an equally serious tone and then laughed, showing her pearly whites.

'What a surprise to see you here,' she continued, clipping on quiet hooves right up to him and reaching out with a wing-tip, trying to tap his nose with a feather. Her wing got tucked away again afterwards, and she winked.
'Busy..I mean I can see that you are completely swamped here, doing..well nothing, yes?'
She grinned again.
'C'mon Mr Swirls, you can inject some excitement into your little life. Time to meet your first Kalona..'
Well, that was if her mother had turned up yet. She wasnt about to tell the stallion that there was a chance they wouldnt even see Izusa.

He kept still at the touch of her wing, though inwardly he shivered. Her words hinted obviously at how it wasn't a surprise to find him here... How she was obviously looking for him. He grimaced at her wink, but refused to pull away; if he did, she'd see past his guard. He had a bit of an idea (as silly as it may be) that she was able to see past personal barriers. He hadn't doubted himself or his ideas before he met her... So he was pretty set on his little theory.

And his fist suspicions were right. She had come to fetch him to meet her mother. The Kalona. The one who went crazy over silly matters of the heart. He tossed his mane proudly, cracking a small smile at the name, and he walked around her, flicking his tail so it hit her leg lightly. Marius knew that she thought he feared the idea of meeting a Kalona... But he wouldn't give her the satisfaction of knowing that the idea, like it would anyone normal, frightened him a tad bit. He started walking in the direction he believed she came from, looking over his shoulder at her.

She di not look like the daughter of a Kalona, nor did she act like one. At least from what he knew of her. 'She could always turn,' He thought with distaste. It would be a real shame for her to turn to the ways of such an "evil" breed.

Curious..she watched Marius, who had drawn back from the feather touch to his face. She arched her neck, tilting her head and watching him walk behind her. She chuckled as his tail tickled her leg, and turned to face him.

'You're going the wrong way..' she said, grinning a little. She had come that way because she'd gotten a little lost coming from her mother's hideaway, she didn't often come from there to the Lake.
'This way Swirly,' she winked cheekily again, and trotted off, heading the opposite way to where she had approached.
'My mother lives not far from the burial grounds,' she called over her shoulder, leading him to that dismal and rather barren part of the area.

He paused in step at her call, a tad embarressed that he had started in the wrng direction. He kept his mouth shut as he turned, giving her a thoroughly annoyed look (though amusement flickered in his gaze) and he followed her slowly at first. Where her mother lived did not surprise him; isn't that where most Kalonas resided? Did she feel safe going there... Could she defend herself against them? She was part Kalona herself, yes...

He blamed his uneasiness around her on that. He did not know if Neve wuld turn on him, and the fact she was leading him to her mother did not help at all. It would have been smart to fall behind and quickly slink away. But that was rude, and Marius did not fall under that category. Frustrated with himself, he trotted up to her side, keeping a good wingspan distance away from her.

Neve could tell from Marius's hoof-fall that he was in two minds about the whole thing, but still he followed her. Grudgingly he rose up a few points on her mental scoreboard, but there was still a greater experience, test even, that had to come and she smiled secretly to herself as she lead him along.
'My mother likes her privacy,' she said in a careless fashion, her wings held close to her body now as she took him along a path that was lined with grasping bushes that wielded spiteful thorns. Underfoot was becoming stony, and the trees around had a spindly, desperate air to them. Altogether, the place had an air of menace, decay even.
Neve slowed, smelling the air. Her mother's scent was fresher, but she didnt know if that meant she had been and gone through here since she had last checked Izusa's hideaway, or if she was actually nearby. She moved on again, winding her way ever nearer to the thicket that was near the edge of the burial grounds.

The change of scenery seemed to take place all too quickly. Was the lake really this close to such a barren place? The thought concerned him, and that all along he could have happened upon one of these dangerous breeds. 'But you have,' A voice in his head chirped, 'Neve herself is probably dangerous past her pretty face.' He tried to reassure himself that he was simplys tepping up the ladder. He had met a half-Kalona, step one. Step two, meet the mother Kalona of the previously mentioned mare? That was one big gap on the ladder!

"Well, I wouldn't suspect she'd be throwing herself around for attention," He commented, rolling his eyes playfully at her tone. The mare beside him was probably trying to appear apathetic, but a voice in the back of his head taunted at the idea this all could be a trap. He had kept walking when she had slowed, too into his thoughts realize she had been sniffing the air. But she was walking again, and his eyes were quick to look around for other movement. It probably isn't wise to lose track fo thought, he reeasoned. It was best to stay alert.

"Well," he began, trying to lighten his own mood and to ward off the fear she probably thought he had, "I can say it's quite a shock to see where some pretty faces come from." He mused aloud, unnerved by the scenery.

Neve flicked her tail as she walked, humming a little. It was always the intial jolt at seeing the burial grounds that got to her; once she'd been there for a little while it failed to bother her anymore. After all she was going to see her mother, and she'd never feared her, or had any reason to feel said fear.

'She is something of a recluse now,' Neve spoke once more.
'But she used to be amongst company all the time. She was the very first Kalona seen in these parts, and it wasnt easy being a filly, and being on her own so she stayed close to the Village alot.'
She fell silent again, concentrating on where she was placing her hooves as a bad step on one of the twisting tree roots that spread across their path would be painful.
She paused at his latter words, turning her head around and quirking a brow at the stallion before grinning and carrying on.
Was that a compliment? she wondered to herself.
'Just when I thought I had you figured out,' she said in an offhand manner, chuckling a little.

Izusa's head snapped up, her ears swivelling and she looked through the thick foliage in the direction that Neve and Marius were coming from, her tail tendrils twitching slowly and then stilling as she pushed forwards, creeping inch by inch in the shadows.

Now wasn't that something to live up to, being the daughter of one of the first seen Kalona... If she was taking up that kind of life. It appeared that living up to such a name was a goal of hers, which pleased him. The more he trusted she wouldn't turn and try to harm him, the better. Though Neve's actions and words often befuddled him, he would not like to lose her company. Marius had to be careful around her, but not as much as the mares who he usually happened upon himself. But he had to be careful in the sense that she would not get annoyed with him (though her reaction to hsi view on love was quite humorous, he decided a while later).

"Mmmm?" He mumbled, looking back to her from quickly glancing around. She thought sh had figured him out? Ha! They had met merely once, and though he had shown more of his true colors, it certainly was not enough to let her read him like an open book. "I'm much more of a puzzle than you would like to think then. If it helps, I've yet to figure you out," He said, tossng his mane a bit to shift his locks over to his other shoulder as he walked. He paused lightly in his step to watch where his hooves were going, not wishing to trip and harm himself... Or embarress himself infront of his companion.

A light grin tugged at his lips, and he casted a glance down at Neve, "So, how will I be able to distinguish that a Kalona we may happen upon is your mother?" He began, cocking his head a bit, his words loght and playful, "Will she be as exotic-looking as you?" He drawled a bit on the final word of his sentence, flicking his tail, lightly hitting her flank.

Neve laughed, the rose in her mane shedding petals and her fangs flashing again for a moment as she chuckled at that notion.
'I've gotten the corners, the rest of the puzzle starts getting easier then.' she winked at him cheekily once more.
'And it will take a long time to figure me out..I am the daughter of a deviously evil mare, and a lothario stallion.' her wings rustled as she calmed down a little.

Her brow raised again as Marius grew bolder in his actions and words. Was she a bad influence on Mr.Beige? She hoped so, he had to have a personality that matched his looks, or she would grow terribly bored of leading him a merry dance.
'Even more so,' she replied lightly. She should probably explain exactly what Izusa will look like so that he didnt exclaim something foolish at first seeng her mother.
'Her wings are akin to a bat's, and adorned with spikes. She has teeth and hooves like mine, but her tail is her greatest difference. It ends in many waving tendrils, as though it is a nest of vipers..'
She moved on, further from the actual burial ground but nearer to her mother's hideaway. The scent was a little stronger, and she angled her head, her ears swivelling to catch any noise of an approach.

Izusa could see them now; her daughter and another. They were yet too far for her to see who it was, but her eyes narrowed at the thought of a stranger this close to what she called 'home'.

He watched the petals leave her mane, a light frown marring his face as they shed. He was quite disappointed in himself for not noticing the flower before. He had not been so close with Neve before. But at her cheeky wink, he momentarily decided that he was perfectly fine with the distance between him and her. He would much rather a friendship(?) between the two than some random bout of lust. Surely that had been what driven her own mother crazy?

Oh, since he picked up on her actions from before, he was aware of what they meant. But... He had a feeling they were all apart of her personality, to act like that but not act on them. He tossed his mane proudly, offering a sly smirk, "Hmm, you hope so," he chided. So what did she think she knew about him? In their last meet they had discussed her mother, their views on an awkward topic... He couldn't outwardly ask what she had figured out about him.

Neve's description made him inwardly shiver, keeping his frame still as he walked as to not let it show. She sounded quite frightening, as a Kalona should. Neve had claimed that her mother was more exotic than she ven! Maybe her father was not a fool for exploring his options. No no! He scowled in his mind. Her father was very much the fool! A fool indeed...

Out of the corner of his eye he saw her swivel her ears, and he mimiced the action. Was... Her dear mother so close by?

'I'm a determined mare, you'll find that out if spend any further time with me..' Neve looked over her shoulder at Marius, watching his proud movements. Maybe.. the thought lingered and she grinned inwardly before turning forwards. Here was where the surroundings became virtually impenetrable, a thicket of thorns and twisting branches that her mother hid amongst.
'Izusa?'
Neve called gently, stepping hard on a tangle of brambles that were trying to catch the hair on her legs. She would not call her 'mother' in front of Marius, she knew that the Kalona would consider it a show of weakness in front of another.

There was a rustling, and a flash of purple and silver colouring showed amongst the greens and browns of the foliage around them.
'Have you bought me a lamb to the slaughter?' Izusa's voice drifted out towards them, an almost inaudible hiss on the breeze.
