Ziarre had awoken one morning to a surprise. One that was heralded with loud and joyous shrieking from Sinan, and cranky growling from Kinek as he was interrupted in his own slumber. Looking about wildly, the young B'alam took a moment to realize that not only was Sinan emitting happy shrieks, she was pointing at Ziarre. Looking down, the first thing Ziarre had noticed was the ethereal glow that seemed to emanate from what she could see of herself. And her back felt funny...twisting around to look, she had stared in shock at wings. Wings covered in translucent, glowing feathers, giving the impression that they were made of pure light.

Ziarre gave a squall of fright and bolted out the door.

* * *

Now here Ziarre was, lounging by the river as she toyed with the flickering flames on her feet and peered at her wings, extending and flexing them. They were really quite fascinating, once she got over the initial shock of discovering she had them. She was larger and lankier too, if not substantially heavier. But that was a good thing, right? If she was ever to fly she couldn't be too heavy, or she'd never even get off the ground.

Thalasso managed to leave the small hut, Chak was really starting to annoy him more than usual. Also, Tejas had been taking care of her and not paid any antention to him. She saw only a cub but that didn't give Tejas the right to forget about it. It was starting to feel lonly and really just wanted someone to talk to, someone to have fun with.

He broke the boundries of the village and jumped through an overgrown shrub, he was going to head towards the river. He just needed some time off from them. His faded blue fur could see the river through the bushes that grew throughout the forest. He brought his white muzzle to the edge of the water as he lapped at it, quenching his thirst and tingleing his throat.

He opened his eyes to look at his reflection, he wasn't that bad looking, well he thought he wasn't. Why was it so hard for him to make friends? He caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of his eyes, he was some light, and off colored flames. It was a beautiful sight, and under it he could see a b'alam. He shifted his posture and looked over to her as he took a few steps forward, hopefully she would see his presence.

A rustle in the undergrowth caused an ear to swivel towards the source, and Ziarre lifted her head to look towards it. A stranger... "Hello," she said cautiously, unsure of how he would react. She knew of few other B'alam with wings, let alone with...these flames, this glow. Would he be frightened?

Thalasso perked his ears up as he heard her speak. "Hey there." He took a few steps closer as he didn't want to alarm her. He eyed the flames that encircled her, it was like a mystic dancer as it sparkled around her. "My name is Thalasso, and yours is?" He asked, his tone very friendly but deep as he waited for a reply.

Between the trees and over the river he flew, the only place in the jungle where he could fly below tree top level without danger of raming some part of his body into a tree. He was in new territory now having gone farther up the river than he had ever gone before. He recognized nothing and didn't see anyone along the banks. He was beginning to wonder if this part of the jungle was even populated.

Shadow's blue eyes searched the bank as he flew. He searched for prey, humans or even other felines like himself. He was beginning to wonder if he should turn back when he spotted a female with wings of light and a male along the bank. 'Better than no one.' He thought to himself as he shifted his wings and used his tail as a rutter to steer himself towards the back so he could land some feet away from them. He settled his wings upon his back and slowly started towards the pair.
