I HATE VEGETARIANS!!!
Okay... well, not all the time, only when they act all snooty and superior to us omnivores...
Like, the other day, I was talking to these vegetarian dudes about vegetarianism, and they're all, "do you eat vegetarians?" Thinking that they meant human beings, I said, "no, not that I know of." And then they're all, "what about cows?!" And I paused and thought of a suitable retort...
And then they laughed at me...

Yeah, that's annoying. I understand the cause, and I respect it, but I couldn't do it. And I don't think it works. Humans require meat. And as long as you're not just scrapping the other useful bits of cow, pig, chicken, etc, then I really think the main problem is not killing them off. Yes, I think some treatment is cruel. But just because some places shove chickens into smaller pens and beat cows (cough that makes the meat tougher anyway, so it's extra dumb cough) and such, that doesn't mean we should give up one of the major food groups.
I got a pamphlet the other day talking about reducing meat intake by half... I'd starve. Honestly, I WOULD. I'm pretty small and I don't eat much anyway... and I get sick when I eat most vegetables. I don't know what it is, but I do.
Here's a fun story. Girl in our group in CR: Very-Much-Vegan girl, wanted to join PETA and be one of the people who open cages (she told us). Made a huuuuuge deal about not getting ANY animal products (I had to keep translating for her, it was very annoying. If you're THAT spastic, learn to say "No puedo comerla si tiene productos de animales" or something like that.). And it was all about animal cruelty. Animal cruelty this, cruelty to animals that. Then one afternoon, she goes horseback riding. I don't like horses on account of the smell, and I don't think it's right to put 100-300 pounds on an animal without actually having somewhere to go in a hurry, but that's just me. But it was ~100 degF, and these horses had already been out all day. And so right after a lunch of animal cruelty lectures, she hops onto one of them and goes riding off for two hours. WTF. burning_eyes

LMAO. At least when ya kill 'em for food, you put 'em out of their misery. stare Right now, I could sure go for a big, juicy medium well sirloin slathered with sauteed mushrooms and onions, with a big plop of A1 on the side. *drool*
I've been lucky enough to have never had to deal with a real vegetarian (or vegan) that I know of. A few people I've known simply ate little or no meat by preference (they just didn't like meat) but not by morals.
And if I ever do encounter one of these 'meat is murder' types, I might just remind them that if we don't eat the animals, they will die, and provide nutrients for the very vegetables in their salads. That, and vegans tend to like Organic produce grown with old-fashioned fertilizer (what I would consider an "animal product" XD). When you think of food on the most basic chemical levels, it doesn't seem inhumane at all. :b
I also take occasional sick pleasure in reminding people that that tap water they're drinking is nothing more than recycled (er "reclaimed") waste water... But that's another topic entirely. twisted

@Xeigrich - I love reminding people of what yogurt is. Haha. Or cheese.
These people annoy me as well. And I love my meat! ^_^
The rant starts here:
No, the one thing I hate the most is someone who's hell-bent on saying that milk is good for you. (Such as my gym/health & nutrition teacher.) EW! DON'T YOU PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THAT IS!!!! EEEEEW!!!!! burning_eyes (Don't get me wrong, I love my ice cream and all, but the fact that people are saying it's healthy really ticks me off. There is NO WAY our ancestors required milk from ANOTHER SPECIES! IT'S JUST THE MILK COMPANIES' ATTEMPT TO SELL MORE FREAKIN' MILK! I mean, look at the high rate of people who are lactose intolerant. And I don't think it's a coincidence that the US has the highest milk consumption AND the highest osteoporosis rate. Common, if the milk were fixing the problem, THAT wouldn't happen, now would it?)
Just sayin'. I'm not dissing milk lovers, just those who glorify it.
End rant.

Just sayin'. I'm not dissing milk lovers, just those who glorify it. End rant. Milk is great, and milk CAN be very good for you. However, we mammals were not intended to consume milk from ANY animal including our own species once we are fully mature. Babies drink booby-milk (hehe) because that's the only thing they can safely consume as they are still developing. Eventually, the body says, "Okay, I don't need milk anymore. I gots teeth and I can chew now!" This is why so many people are lactose intolerant. Sure, most of us can digest it fine, but it's not something we were originally meant to eat/drink. It's not much different than eating Honey or similar products. Technically, though, we shouldn't be drinking milk. :b And what's this "no way our ancestors required milk from another species" business? Stop and think for a second. We were never "required" to take ANYTHING from any other species. Cow milk is bad for babies since it has such a high milk fat content. We take things from other species because we aren't self-sufficient enough (or biologically advanced enough) to produce it ourselves. Eventually, someone realized, "Hey, we can drink human milk, so why not cow or goat milk?" and "Hey, our boobs don't make much milk other than what our babies drink, so lets use some of that cow's milk and see what we can do with it!" The big point here: Would you want to eat cheese or ice cream made from human milk? Didn't think so. cool
