Glosoli's mind had been wandering, spurred on by the pleasant weather; the sun was warm on his back, but he was cooled by a light breeze. Anlach was still just distant enough that he didn't feel tense or anxious yet. In fact, he'd let it slip from his mind. His only pressing concern in these times was for his Outrider duties, and for Sesilida's well-being. But she'd been socializing with the other bulls and cows more and more, so he was able to focus wholly on his duties. Sort of.

As his mind wandered, so did he. He strolled along, occasionally sniffing at the wind or the ground for traces of lera. Thus far there'd been no scent to distract him. Donner might be terrified of the lera threat, but was there really so much of one? If the herd could survive without a council, having to worry about himself, Sesilida, and Tumi all being liabilities to their safety, there couldn't be that many threats in the area. Still, while things were so safe and easy, now seemed the best time to set up a council.

Or maybe things weren't so safe. Now there suddenly was a scent, though a bit old and faint, of a fox. Glosoli immediately stiffened and began looking around sharply.

In the near distance, bells pinged and jingled loudly for a few seconds before dieing down to a soft tinkling that half bounced off the trees and half hung in the immediate air. The bells' owner had slowed from a strong trot to a fairly laid back walk as she continued to weave and move about the brown woody pillars.

The sun dappled her storm hued coat and glinted off the collar around her neck as she stopped in a small clearing and snorted out a light plume of steamy air. She smelled nothing that caused her to become alert for danger; the scent of a fox laid old and stale upon his nose, and the scent of another from her heard went completely unnoticed as the light breeze blew that scent in the wrong direction.

At the first sound of bells, Glosoli jerked. Then, recognizing the unnatural but now familiar jingling, he calmed and looked about for whichever collared member of the herd was nearby.

He saw her through the trees at the same time he caught her scent (for the wind was favoring him). He trotted through the trees to the clearing she'd found. Of all the herd, he'd found himself hoping to see Donner, what with the thoughts of forming a council on his mind. Of all the Outriders, both cow and bull, Glosoli still considered Donner to be the closest thing to a leader they had, and would likely defer to his judgement above any other's. But instead it was his sister, whom of course he also respected, despite his disappointment in last Anlach. But while he respected her and would very much have liked to have her in his harem, she was not the only cow in the herd and he hadn't taken the rejection to heart. So, his tone would have been light and pleasant as he greeted her, but for the scent of fox weighing on his mind. "Good afternoon, Blitzen." Not quite as good an afternoon as it had been just a little while before, however... "Have you seen any lera about? I've just smelled a fox, but I think it's long gone from here."

Blitzen turned to Glosoli without an real surprise at his sudden greeting - she had jumped lightly a few moments before when she had finally caught his scent. With an amused smile balancing on her lips, she bowed her head in a return of "hello" before moving on to give her voice on the matter of lera.

"I've seen a squirrel, birds, and a rabbit; no fox. It's been gone for quite some time."

"Hmm. Well, that's good." He was silent for a few moments; not thinking exactly, so much as waiting for more words to come. "Has Donner been giving any thought to forming a council lately?" As the bull's sister, he assumed that any such considerations would likely be voiced to her first. Besides, she was among the strongest and most outspoken of the herd so she would almost without doubt be on the council too. "We need to formally establish something... just incase." Just incase the weather got worse; just incase another herd infringed on their territory. Just incase things got bad.

Blitzen gave a husky chuckle. "You sound almost like Donner," she said quickly and more to herself as some sort of side note before she looked at him and actually replied to his question.

"Not that I really know of; no. I'm sure it's run across his mind, though, with all this new Firebringer herd hooplah." She gave a marginal snort before continuing. "I probably should've brought it up; I saw him not long ago."

Glosoli smiled a bit at the comparison to Donner, whether she meant it as a compliment or not. "Firebringer herd?" This was new to him, and it sounded intriguing. Another reindeer herd, while it might concern Donner, would be welcome news. Perhaps they might even be welcomed into it. But if Blitzen thought Donner would want to form a council because of discovering a new herd... What about the other herd could possibly alarm him? Other reindeer weren't a threat. "Are they any concern to us?"

Blitzen could only shrug. "Donner's worried about them, but you know he is with others who are different." She flicked an ear before lightly shaking her head and making the bells around her neck jingle.

"I must say, though, their numbers are quite daunting."

"Different? Different how? If they're Rangifer like us, why are they a concern?" The only difference Glosoli could think of was that perhaps they behaved differently. In Donner's eyes, associating with strangers was dangerous, so the only issue might be that this new herd had spoken to them at all! At that, Glosoli was able to relax a little.

Blitzen gave the white bull a puzzled look for a second as she tried to comprehend where his response was coming from. The FireBringer herd Ragnif-oh. She got it. ...

"But they're not like us; they're not Rangifer," she corrected, then went on to explain, "they're taller, leaner, and well... different. Nothing like us at all. In fact, they even sound different as far as I've heard."
