Hi everyone and welcome!
Since there's so many new people around, I decided that we really need something to play around with and have fun, and what's better than a little contest?
This is an avatar contest which means that you are given a theme and you have to design a costume for your avatar around that theme - using whatever items you want. The 'costumes' will then be judged, and if you win you get a little prize as a momento biggrin
Remember, it's not the expense of the items that get you a win, but the creativity of your use of them and the genral 'coolness' factor in answering the theme.
So are we clear?
The theme this time will be....
Bonfire Night
"Remember, remember the 5th of November..."
'Bonfire night' is a traditionally british celebration held on the 5th of November where people set up bonfires, blast off fireworks and sparklers and burn 'guy' dummies. Traditionally before bonfire night kids often make tehir dumies (tehy're a bit like scarecrows) and beg for money "penny for a guy". One of the best things about bonfire night (aside from the fireworks) are the sweets like toffee apples and chocolate apples smile
It celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot in which a group of Catholic conspirators, led by one Robert Catesby, and including Guy Fawkes, attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in Westminster on the evening of 5 November 1605, when the Protestant James I of England (James VI of Scotland), his eldest sons, and the majority of the English Parliament were within its walls. The conspirators were then tortured and executed. The dummy traditionally burnt is that of guy Fawkes.
So what sort of thing could you dress up as? it's really upto you. How about a fire theme, or a guy Fawkes theme (we're talking stuart style clothing- think puritan/quaker style clothes- V for Vendetta style), or fireworks, or even sweets!
It's totally upto you - I look forwrad to seeing your results!

November the 5th
The contest will be judged within a few days of this date, so please keep your costumes on your avatar until the winners are announced.

"My look was completely diffrent than what bonfire is about I guess. I kinda went on a 'winter' look instead of that 'fire' look. I guess its casual and diffrent. "

"Well, here's my entry. I was actually going for a Guy Fawkes design.
I chose the clothes based on different images people have created of him. The clown face paint was used to make it look like a Guy Fawkes mask, and I felt that the vampire skin gave it the squint it needed.
I was debating on whether I should have a Roman Candle or not. I decided to leave it out because it took up too much of the avatar.

"I am going for a Reaper type look. He has his cloak on ready to destroy the earth. As you can see, he's supposed to be huge [The trees on fire] and has a pet bat to catch escaping victims. The mood bubble shows he is ready to kill, yet he doesn't feel like it. He got to earth by summoning a large portal [Which is behind him] and stepped in, teleporting him to the location of where he's supposed to destroy. He has a magical power, instead of the scythe, which is a purple flame. That's how he caught the trees on fire... And he can form a scythe with enough energy... So he can reap faster. But he likes reaping this way, more fun to watch people burn! "
