i still cant belive they got the rights to death note. thats so great lol...i tihnk teh dub did a really great job...not crazy about ryuk's voice but the impoerant tihng is if i never heard of death note and i saw the dub..i would still like it.
hopefully L and Misa are good too.

I agree. Ryuk's voice wasn't nearly cryptic enough, but I guess it can work. I mean, if I can deal with Spiral's Hiyono Yuizaki's dub voice being entirely too low, I guess this could work. Brad Swaile does a pretty good job as Light's voice.

I was pretty saitisfied with the voices.
Sounded worse in the commercial, though, so I thought it would be like a 4Kids dub or something.

I was pretty upset that Adult Swim (or Cartoon Network, for that matter) got the rights, but I was VERY impressed with the dub. The only voice that wasn't fairly dead-on for me was Ryuk, but I can live with that. The score was wonderful and I loved both the end and beginning themes. Of course, a lot of that's a carry-over from the Japanese show, but whatever. At least they didn't Narutard-fy it.

My biggest issue with the dub was that I'd seen Black Lagoon. Since Brad Swaile does Rock's voice, I was hearing a similiar voice for both a highschool student and a businessman in his 20s or 30s.
The dub was really good, though. 3nodding

I'm not too crazy about Death Note being on [as] or the dubbing. Ryuk just wasn't executed all that well (though the shinigami in the beginning of 'Rebirth' sounded cool to me, why couldn't he sound a bit more like that? confused ) in my opinion, and Light's dub just annoyed me for unknown reasons. I am glad that it airs on adult swim now though, because it's guaranteed (both because VIZ is working on it & [as] shows usually get DVDs pretty often) to have the DVDs and eventual box set release at some point and those will let you watch it in Japanese. So, you know, hooray for DN being on [as]! It will get annoying to see pain in the a**, obsessive American fans appearing everywhere though. Not to say that I'm not obsessive, but... lol

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't very good, either.
I think Light and Ryuk's voices could have been better....
But maybe I'm just picky?
I'm just hoping they don't screw up Misa and Mello's voices... Especially Misa's...

The only time I think Ryuk's voice ever sounded good by far was when he said, "juicy". I hope the hilarious, over-dramatic orgasms of screaming and maniacal laughter are close enough to being just like the original.

Love it! (Even thought it took place of Bleach *glares at adult swim*) Ryuk's voice was a little off but it can work for him. Lights voice is great for him. Brad Swaile also did the voice for Quatre Winner (from Gundam wing). Which both Quatre and Light think things out too much and are hell of good at strategizing. So it works great! But I'll be a little creped out when he goes Kira. Oh well can’t wait!!!
