Sukari had meandered away from her camp tonight. Her son, Fenris, had been acting very strange and it was beginning to bother her. She had picked the first-born male, (poor little Fenris) to be her heir... Of what, exactly, nobody knew. She was training him to be strong, tough, mean, and war-ready. Obviously a mix of cheetah and lion would bring about both strength and speed, two traits crucial to battle.
Fen, however, was growing more and more annoying to her. She kept it in to hide it, but he really didn't seem to be getting the point. He seemed to shrug off whatever teachings Sukari offered... and what's worse, he painted his face red with the scar Sukari had given herself... the one under her eye... The one with which she made a vow that she wouldn't rest until her mother was dead.
It was eerie, therefore, when her son appeared one day with such a marking painted on himself. She had told him that it was a marking of determination, but it was still creepy to see it on her son... She couldn't help but hope he didn't know what it really stood for.
Still, on this night the lioness stalked angrily, a low growl constantly being emitted from her chest. Her muscles gleamed as she sat down quite moodily and simply stared out into the night. Maybe she'd find that no-good traitor leopard slave of hers... Though she thought he was dead. If only she knew that her "heir" had freed him.

This was the prime of Banjoko's life. He was growing up; he felt stronger, faster, better than ever. His mane was growing longer and this made him feel like an adult lion; like he could take on anything. He had rescued a beautiful maiden. Banjoko's confidence in himself was at a peak at this point in his life.
And that was why he had left Nurisha for the time being to hunt. Being the manly-man he was, he was going to take down a preybeast - a big one, of course - all by himself. Bringing a zebra back to Nuri definitely would show her what a good choice she made to come with him.
The only problem was finding a preybeast. So far he had not smelled, heard or seen a beast big enough to boast about.

Sukari had to... Kill something. Yes, that would relieve her stress. She trotted out across the lands seeing nothing... Until a speck was visible on the horizon. It was upwind of her... Small, but it was a gazelle. She ducked down and followed it, getting closer by the moment until she was close enough to strike, she launched herself at it and only bit down along it's spine, paralyzing it.
She stood over it and looked into it's buggy eyes... A look of disgust was written on her face as she awaited for the moment she wanted to finish it. She wasn't hungry in the least, she'd kill it for the act of killing, for hunting.

Banjoko suddenly smelled the unmistakable, enticing scent of a fresh kill. Blood and fear were in the air somewhere nearby, though he couldn't quite see where yet. The horizon was a fuzzy line of heat.
It was not an unusual thing to smell in the savanna, but it intrigued Banjoko nonetheless. He wasn't interested in the kill itself - scavenging was for hyenas and vultures, certainly not for him - but if there was one preybeast around, there were likely others. And if it wasn't a predator killing its prey, then perhaps there was something going on that Banjoko should investigate anyway...perhaps someone needed saving.
Following his nose for a few moments, he began to see a shape take form in front of him as he neared a lioness and a gazelle. Not dead yet - Banjoko could see the fear blazing in its glazed eyes - but paralyzed. The liones was hovering over the mortally wounded animal.
Watching a moment, the blue adolescent took stock of the situation. Why was she waiting to kill the creature? Of course Banjoko had no qualms about killing prey. But to..draw out the beast's death like this? For what reason? He wasn't sure he liked this.
Yet, she was a lioness living her life and what she did was none of Banjoko's business. She obviously was not in need of rescue; he wouldn't bother her. Staying a few feet off from the lioness and her kill, Banjoko scanned the area looking for other gazelles. Alas, it seemed any that remained had already fled.

Sukari distractedly slammed her clawed paw down onto the gazelle's throat, finishing it at last. However, her attention was definitely not on the gazelle, but on the other stranger that had appeared out of nowhere.
"What do you want?" Sukari spat rather loudly glaring at the male that had suddenly entered the scene. Despite having finished off the beast, the female wanted more... of a fight. More of a challenge, and this lion would do. She wanted to feel a few blows and deliver a far greater number... But how to tick him off? How to provoke a complete stranger?
"Prissy boy couldn't even catch something like this," she said before charging him, stopping right in front of his face, then backing up a little. "Idiot."

Banjoko stiffened as the lioness cast a hateful glance and spiteful words at him. He didn't come here for a fight. And he'd really rather not fight a lady, either. Females were to be respected, not attacked.
Wait, did she just insult him? He snarled instinctively as a response, baring his teeth. She definitely didn't have to do that, certainly not. He was only minding his own business! Okay, Banjo thought, this wasn't a lady. He was allowed to be mean to her now.
"Excuse me," he said, barely containing the dislike in his eyes. "I wasn't aware I had done anything to offend you." Sarcasm.
Banjoko simply didn't understand why she would be hostile to him; it wasn't warranted, he didn't deserve it. His honor wounded, Banjoko felt his blood begin to boil.
