Ophelia was wandering as usual, her favorite china doll hugged to her chest like a precious newborn and glaring disdain at the world. She could almost swear that the stench of the imperfects around her was making her hair curl.
"Nasty, loathsome things, aren't they Liliane?" she asked her doll as she swept past children who stared, women who flinched and men who gaped and averted their eyes. The china doll gave no reply, though Ophelia had expected none. As she crossed the crowded street, a child playing with her friends pushed by Ophelia, bumping her accidentally.
"Brat!" Ophelia hissed, grabbing the little girl by the collar of her shirt and hoisting her into the air. "Worm! Apologize for jostling me!"
"M'sorry, mistress," the child yelped. Ophelia looked as though she wanted to spit in the girl's face as she threw her to the ground.
"Leave, before I lose my patience and part your head's company with your shoulders," she snapped.

Lenneth wondered the streets aimlessly, memorizing the roadways as they passed beneath her feet, wich seemed to have a mind of thier own, leading her this way and that, only stopping at the sight of another much like her -Ophelia, was it?- spatting cruel words to some little child.
Pale hand, balled into tiny fists as Lenneth held them to her lips, and watched with a look that didn't seem to understand the other's cruelty. Looking to the child, Lenneth bit her lip, before her feet rushed her over to Ohelia-
"Please, leave the child be! It's already appologised. I'm sure they didn't mean it!" Lenneth's eyes seemed to plea for understanding between her and her kin, before looking down at the child, and back to Ophelia. "What is the meaning of such anger towards something that appears no more than an accident? You're not hurt,. Enlighten me."
It was boldness that Lenneth rarely had - speaking up to someone like so, but still, she could see no fault that condemned the child to such words, nor actions.

Ophelia's lip curled. How dare this impertinent woman speak to her?
"You are of my kind, but you suffer under your own imperfection and are blinded by sympathy for swine," she said, voice deadly quiet. "The brat jostled me. I am not to be disrespected, and I informed the child of such. Is it not so?"
The girl flinched, bewildered, and nodded, creeping away from Ophelia and Lenneth both.
"Didn't mean no harm," the child said, eyes huge as she stared into Ophelia's blank blue ones. "No harm, mistress!"
"Go. Your stench sickens me," Ophelia said imperiously. The girl fled in humiliation and terror, disappearing into the crowd. The haughty Tabula turned her attention back onto Lenneth, lip curling again.
"Who are you."

"My name is Lenneth, and I am sorry, but I believe it is you who are blinded by your anger. Children will be children. Did you ever stop to think maybe it was you who stepped in the child's way, and she was unable to avoid you?" Lenneth paused, pale brows furrowed, then she looked to the ground, hands still held to her chest.
"I know it might not be my place to say anything of this,.but still,.you must know that it is not,.benificial,.to harbor such hostility?"

"Do not presume to question my reason," Ophelia said icily. "The brat should have stopped or crashed into somebody else. I am of far more value than she will ever be."
The childish naïveté Lenneth seemed afflicted with was nauseating. How could anyone - a fellow Tabula, no less! - even begin to be so...so...innocent?
"You are right in saying it is not your place," Ophelia replied, expressive as stone. "Worry for your own self, my young sister. I am well suited to myself, and I do not take kindly to those who pry."

Lenneth whispered, "You place too much value on yourself," shaking her head.
How could anyone be this, what was the word? Arrogant?
"I was not prying. And I would ask you to refrain from calling my sister, if you would. I would not like to have someone such as yourself refer to me as thier relation, if it's all the same to you." She had to dig deep for the little bit of boldness it took to say that, but though she did, it still came out in a soft, nervouse, tone. Though the Tabula might be brethren, she would not refer to this one as such.

Ophelia snapped.
"What a sharp tongue you have, little one," she said, her voice so calm and silky it was rather frightening. The sword at her hip was unsheathed with a slick sound, and she tapped at the ground gently with its tip. "Maybe I should cut it out, lest you harm yourself with it."
People were starting to stop and stare at the mad woman with the doll cradled in one arm and the eerie smile on her face, but Ophelia paid it no attention.

Lenneth took a step back. "Are you so insecure with yourself that you must threaten others to feel dominate? Dominating others with fear is no way to be!" the young Tabula plead, brows furrowed.
The anger this one exhibited confused her. In Lenneth's quest for knowledge, she had already taken in a lot, but one thing she could not understand was anger.
She took a second to look around at those who had stopped to see the specticle. "Please, there are innocent people here. Rash actions could result in something disasterous,..and how would that reflect upon our kind?" She finally said, looking back to Ophelia.

"Mayhap it's not," Ophelia said. "But I find such delicious satisfaction in it."
She took a step forward to close the gap between them, smoothly sheathing her sword. She smiled that eerie smile and brushed her fingers against Lenneth's cheek.
"Innocence is only temporary," she said. "All things are corrupted in the end. All things are unmade. All things are rendered imperfect. What should we care, if the people around us live or die? They are the faceless mass. If we are known in infamy, it is because we raised our kind above them. We are their betters, and they should all know it."

Lenneth jerked her cheek away from the other Tabula's touch. "There is a difference,..between being innocence, and perfection. Some,..of the most innocent,.most otherworldy things are not perfect. Perfection is not the epitome of achievements. And in aknowledging that,..aknowledging that we, and anyone else for that matter, human or Tabula, have the ability to harbour ill will, hate, careing or love, is enough." She paused to take in a breath, soft smile working its way on her face, though her eyes still remained wary. "So step back and reflect on yourself before you place yourself on a pedistal built with fear. For fear is like clay - one it rains, it will melt away,..then where will you be, but level with us once more?"

"Oh, indeed?" Ophelia asked indifferently. "Do you go so far as to say the gods are imperfect? Child, you are a little else but a fool. To feel is to cloud the self with unnecessary attachments to a temporary world. Hate and love, anger and goodwill, all are rendered to nothing in the end. It is the self that is important, nothing else. When you eat, who receives nourishment? Certainly not the starving whelps in the street begging for crumbs. Life is built upon selfishness. Do not seek to preach to me."
Her smile twisted then, resembling the rictus grin of a skull.
"Why should I be level with lesser people when I can lower them by digging their graves?"

Lenneth shook her head, smile growing a little, amused. "No." She took in a breath. "I meerly live in the moment. I'll let the future do what it will. So what if the world shall end tomorrow, or the day after that? So long as I live my life to the fullest in the present, why worry about tomorrow?"
Her hands that had been cept close to her chest finally rested by her sides, fingers idly playing with the white fabric of her long skirt. "And so what if I'm a fool? at least I'm a happy one. Happy with my place in life, the world around me,..and not insecure, selfdestructive,.." She sighed, a rather pleasant sigh. "It's your choice, weather to stare down your nose at these people-" She looked around at the gathering of people. "-But I choose to stare eye-to-eye with the people around me, for should they learn to trust, and respect me, then I have made some dear freinds. Where as, if they feared me, I would have nothing but me, myself, and I. And more enemies then I care to count. And who would be there to help you when they chose to try to get rid of you? Surely you do not think that you could slay an entire town?"

Ophelia twitched in annoyance at Lenneth's smile.
"To simply allow life to run its course without trying to seize and alter it to one's own end is folly," she said sourly. "You say you are happy now. What happens when your simple-minded love for the people and places of this world turn against you? The world is cruel. And all the precious 'friends' you make will not change that, nor in the end ease the truth of it. We are born to make ourselves, and to reach the level of perfection of which we are capable. You would allow yourself to sit back and waste your days in idle, empty-minded content!"
Grinding her teeth, Ophelia brushed a strand of hair out of her eyes and willed herself to calm.
"I would relish the challenge of it," she said. "I would prove that if the one is worthy, they could stand victorious over many. These...people...are little more than animals to me. In time I will master them all, and they will thank me for it. I do not seek mindless, fruitless destruction. I am here to help them achieve perfection."

"While I spend my time day-to-day, living in the moment, I will allow fate to pull me along as it would see fit. The decision I made to day has altered the original course, but I believe the opportunity to converse with you about this was one of the many forks in the road of fate." She paused, and shook her head. "You chosen a lonely road." Lenneth let out a long sigh, before finally looking back to Ophelia. "But tha was your choice. And now where ever your fate drags you it's your consequence. Your anger now towards me does not hinder me in the least. For I face my chosen fate with a smile." And thus, she did smile.
It was as if with each word that poured from her, the courage in the deep, once almost empty, well, grew. It was silly, but it was how she felt.
"But I must thank you, for this meeting was not without consequences for me too, but I believe it was a good consequence, and thus, meeting you was my own little blessing." She gave just the slightest bow.

Ophelia stared at Lenneth in purest loathing.
"Make sport of me as you will," she said, her rage and madness driving her to her own inaccurate conclusions. "I see I can talk no sense into you, and your dullard's joy repulses me. Go, live and lower yourself among the common filth of this world. It is of no consequence to me, young sister."
