[ Tirasei x Satsuma ]
Oct. 31, 7:00p.m.
A year ago, Fai wouldn't have thought this scene possible. He would have laughed it off, maybe even threatened the person suggesting it. But, here he was on a work night... trekking through the streets and throngs of costumed midgets and over-protective parents. Ain't irony a b***h?
He shifted the light weight in his arm, moving Tir up a little since he'd shifted down to rest on his hip and that was a little too gay for him. The child gave a soft grunt, resuming his nomnomnom on an over sized rainbow lolly he'd procured from one of the previous houses in the neighborhood.
The small blue child was dressed like a ninja turtle, face painted green with a little red headband across his eyes and a Styrofoam shell across his back. He was cute, really. The costume was awkward to hold, but Fai had managed with minimal damage to the 'shell' and the fake sai that were strapped to his belt via Velcro.
"How much more of this crap do I have to endure, Rei?" He murmured, glancing sidelong at the other man who was dressed almost as festively as the other parents. Fai himself had donned a high-collared cape and slicked his hair back. That was about as Dracula as he got.

Yards (and yards and yards) of flowing silk had been called into play to drape Reihai in the traditional robes of a Heian-era courtier. Most of his costume was black, with deep purple underlayers; he'd thoroughly enjoyed putting it together. The smile on his face was wickedly amused, and OH YES...he'd taken a MILLION pictures so he had proof this night had happened.
"Don't be silly, my unenthusiastic friend," he murmured, snapping his fan open and hiding all of his face but dancing violet eyes. "Tir is having so much fun! Besides, it's good for him to be out and around other children; he needs to socialize. All you'd be doing at home right now is sleeping, anyways, since you told everyone business was on hold for the night."
Well...sleeping and other things. XD

Fai gave a grunt of response, glaring sidelong now. He wasn't at all amused. Tir was enjoying this? The little guy didn't care WHAT they were doing as long as he got to eat whatever the candy confection item was they'd gathered. He'd be eating that lolly for a solid week... unless it became.. 'odd' in the meantime from being dragged around the house.
"Hnn.." Was the only response he offered, whether it be agreeing or not- that was up to Rei to decide. "I don't see how he's socializing, but ok..." He sighed, offering the bucket of candy toward Rei.
"Let's get this house. It looks pretty good..." He nodded toward a house on the far side of the street, iron gate surrounding a yard of well landscaped hedges and trees. A few skeletons decorated, accompanied by a large set of pumpkins an some hay bales.

"Oh ye of little faith," Rei snorted, and followed Fai's gesture to examine the house. Very nice, indeed- they looked like they had enough money to make it worth their time. Only the best for his baby, after all!
It was only once they approached the house, however, that he began to get an odd feeling. Something strange, like a burn of unease at the back of his throat...he frowned, looking around as he stepped close to Fai. What WAS that...?
His searching eyes located something white in one of the trees, halfway up the walk. For a moment, denial overrode his skills at observation; once his vision snapped to reality, however, he uttered a small sound of revulsion. "Oh, Christ- look. What morbid b*****d thought it would be amusing to put a fake baby corpse in a TREE?"

Fai glanced over, breaking into a chuckle. Wow.
"Someone with a keen sense of humor," He replied, moving over to peer up at the tree a little closer. It was weird looking, and the only one in any of the trees. "It's got... feathers or something. Dead baby... angel? That's ******** up."
Tir paused in his nomming to look up, reaching a sugar covered paw upwards to wiggle fingers wantingly toward it. "Hom!"
Fai arched an eyebrow, glancing at Rei.

More than slightly revolted, Rei gently pushed the sticky little hand down and motioned for Fai to keep moving. "Come on, let's skip this house. I don't want anything from people who would do something like this."
And then...the little bundle of black silk hair and feathers made a desperate little baby sound. The Japanese man's head snapped around to look back up at the tree, pale- this was MORE than creepy. Someone was seriously going to hell for this. And yet...
"Fai...you don't think it's ALIVE do you?" .______.

"I think it would be more than a little bizarre for a house to TOSS a baby up into a tree just for the sake of having the craziest yard decoration..." Fai replied, sarcasm evident. He turned to Rei, shaking his head. "Maybe they have a sound box attached to it or something?"
Tir frowned, ignoring his candy and waving his arm toward the tree. "HOMHOMHOMHOM!" He began to chant, kicking his feet a little. Fai hissed, trying to keep the bundle in his arm.
"Hey, stop that."

"Tir is getting awfully upset over something that isn't real," Rei murmured, eyes drawn irrevocably to the little bundle. He stepped a little closer, squinting to try and see through the shadows that blanketed the scene. The noise of children and parents in the street seemed distant; no one wanted to follow them to this house. Maybe they had reason.
The bundle moved again, and his lips tightened. He'd been caring for Tir a while now, and with that confirmation he had no doubts. "Fai, give me Tir and go check it out. I think that IS a baby up there."

Great.
"Tch, Rei..." Fai turned to him, sighing. "Now you want me to go climbing up some PERSONS tree to retrieve a fake baby. I reserve the right to throw it through their window later."
He passed Tir to the other man, unclasping his cape to give it up as well. Once he was unencumbered, he trotted over to the tree and began to climb it.
"....sonofabitch," He grunted, weaving his way through the branches until he had almost gotten up to the baby.

"If I'm not right, I don't care what you do," Rei called after him, and snuggled Tir. Hopefully he WASN'T right. Overall, the entire concept was mind-twisting and disturbing.
Once Fai got that close, however, it became evident that...there was definitely a baby in the tree. The pure white cloth he was wrapped in had caught on the branches and torn as if he'd fallen from the sky; there was no telling how long he'd been there, but his cries were sporadic and not very strong. His hair and features were definitely Asian, and there seemed to be a multitude of...feathers.
When Fai appeared in the tree, the little one's eyes opened a bit, and he made a feeble reach for the dragon. "Nnnnn..."

"Th'hell..." Fai growled, hefting himself up onto a higher branch and balancing. Once he'd gotten his equilibrium, he leaned forward to snatch the fabric wrapped around the kid and yank him over into his clutched.
"Hey... what are you doing in this tree, hmm?" His voice softened, arm around Satsu to keep him secure as he began to make his descent down the branches. "Just hang on a little, you're okay now."
He dropped down the final feet, landing with a grunt and a few stray leaves from the tree. "Hey Rei, you were right. It was a kid up there."

"I knew it," was the growled, response, and Rei darted over in a flurry of small ninja turtle and silk robes. Anxiously, he looked the baby over, giving Tir a chance to investigate as well. "He looks dehydrated. There's no telling how long he's been up there...we should get him to a doctor."
The baby in question had curled one strengthless hand into Fai's shirt, too pitiful at the moment to even cry. Enormous blue eyes were unfocused as he looked from his savior to the new faces. Rei hadn't missed the feathers at all- he reached forward to brush them away from the baby's face, and found them to be attached.
"Look, how strange...is it possible he's some kind of spirit child, like Tir?"

"Odd coincidence that would make, but maybe..." Fai shrugged. "I don't know at this point. Let's head back to the Lotus, I can call a doctor from there... should be faster than leaving to go to a hospital."
He moved around him, heading out of the yard and back toward their block. It wasn't that far, considering the neighborhood was a winding serious of streets that all lead to the main one... where the house was located.
Tir was curious about this new 'creature'. He leaned in Rei's arms, peering after Fai as he wandered away. He glanced back at Rei, eyebrows raised beneath the bandanna of red.
"Hommmmm?"

Hurrying after Fai, Rei smiled down at the little green-painted bundle in his arms. "Curious, hmm?" He murmured. "I bet you're lonely after all, sweetheart...I'll have to talk to your daddy about that."
The thought of keeping this new child hadn't yet entered his mind. Surely it was someone's kid, that someone loved and was missing; he had a hard time believing that he'd just APPEARED.
Koh was outside the Lotus when they arrived, lit by the orange lanterns festooned across the front and making kids dance for candy. He looked up when the two approached, blinking- had Rei really let Fai come home so early?
"'Sup, boss-man?"

"Strangest thing," Fai began. "I said 'trick or treat' and someone tossed a baby into my bag." He floated past, weaving his way into the Lotus and up the set of stairs.
A few people inside were drinking, all dressed up in some form of costume. Yoh glanced up from the bar, dressed as some anime person he'd been gushing about for the past two weeks.
"Back early...?" He called out, leaning over the bar when he spotted the bundle in Fai's arms. "Hnn..."
