Disturbed by Jahka's disappearing act, the Alpha of Einsame Lykos padded throughout his and Alex's territory, seeking his mate. Even though they had been in the packlands for a few weeks now, they had seen none of Deimos' beloved family. It saddened him somewhat, but didn't surprise him. After all, they were a hodge podge of lone wolves, lone being the key word.

Sniffing around, he finally picked up Ehrek's scent; they had parted a few days ago, giving Ehrek time to rest and explore his new home, and giving Deimos a chance to reestablish the boundaries. On his trek, he had made another disturbing discovery; Alex's scent was all but oblitered by weather and time, making it obvious that he hadn't patrolled in some time. Doubly troubled, all he wanted to do was curl up against Ehrek's charcoal blue fur and sleep it all away for a while.

Stumbling upon an old badger den, he discovered that his mate's scent was thick over the area, and he grinned, realizing that the other male had gone to ground. Early on, Deimos had discovered that his mate liked small sleeping spaces.

Slowly lowering himself to his belly, he rested his head on his paws and stared down into the darkness of the hole, ears pricked far forward.

If Ehrek was asleep, then Deimos would let him sleep. He could wait.

Ehrek was digging all around the narrow space to make it a little harder, even if the piles of dirt he made just made it harder to breath as it flooded the burrow. He wanted his own place, his own home to fall into when he was not with Deimos, his love, his alpha, and more importantly, his mate. Though, that would be unlikely but having something to fall back on was always a good thing. He had managed to traverse all around the border following faint scents that might have been Dei's and one other. That was as far as he went before pressing on until he stopped at the burrow yet again. It seemed like it was at the halfway point between the center and the northern edge, the colder and more snowy place. Even if the snow did not fall, he could still see that blanket of white in the distance. He had marked it, unknowing if it were allowed or not, but it felt right to do so signaling others about it.

The den had a narrow entrance and it was slightly dark as the tunnel itself was long. Unknowing of the intruders, the tunnel was steep, a false step could cause a slide and the bump at the end would hurt greatly, but nothing serious. One thing he made sure to do was dig a small hole from the top to bottom and that was a task he could not do alone. However, how he did it was not important. The den had a small hole that shot up just on the other side of the tree to look up into the sky if he were ever there. If it were raining, then he could just cover it up. The only slight sources were the hole and the entrance tunnel. Otherwise, it was just dark. Dark... just how he liked it when he just wanted to be with Dei.

Ehrek pushed the dirt up the tunnel's entrance, however, it started to build into a rather rough ball of dirt, blocking the entrance. The charcoal blue wolf growled as he pushed harder until he burst out into the fresh air. Dirt everywhere, especially his fur and muzzle, he coughed and sneezed before shaking out. It was until he saw those eyes that he froze.

It was Dei.

The beta looked up, his ears slightly back. Did he just throw dirt on his mate?

"H-hi, Dei. How did you find me?"

Dark, moist earth appeared rather abruptly on his face, but he simply lay there, too shocked to move. Then his eyes blinked open and he stared at Ehrek, ears swiveling and twitching as dirt tickled them. Suddenly his laughter broke the silence and he was on his feet, shaking the dirt from his fur before he lunged at his mate, attacking his face with licks and nuzzles.

"How could I not find you, my little badger? My nose will always find your scent, for you are my mate," he murmured, now simply giving Ehrek's cheek slow, loving licks to clean the dirt from his pretty fur. "Do you want some help?" he asked between licks, blue eyes glancing at the dug up earth still scattered in and around the den entrance.

Ehrek could only laugh at his mate's reaction. He felt overwhelmed from the onslaught that he simply tried to hide back in his hole. However, he was not afraid to lick and nuzzle back. His dark grey, dark blue hue fur, what earned him his nickname 'Northern Lights', was a little dirty here and there, but they were males, that was how most saw them. Dirty. Ehrek was not afraid to get down and dirty when he had to, it was work and he wanted this burrow. It was his own territory within a territory. Living a life of solitude with only temporary home... it felt good to actually establish one even if they were not gonna be here that often.

"I dunno, perhaps you forgot about me," he said rather childishly, unbenounced to Dei, his tail was waggin' back there. The comment deserved a lick to that oh so special nose of his. Ehrek loyally and lovingly allowed all public displays of affection from this male of his, having the attention after all these cycles of being alone... it just felt surreal.

Ehrek looked back into his hole, making enough room just beyond the entrance for him to turn around and head back down. he wanted to widen the tunnel, but keep the entrance small enough to fit maybe one or two wolves at a time. Still, the tunnel was steep. The male said no word as he turned and headed down into the darkness below.

"Watch your step, you might break something."

Murring happily at his beautiful mate, he non-the-less gave his Northern Lights a frown. "I could never forget about you," he murmured, tail twitching. It was true; never could he forget that soft fur, the slight curve of those pointed ears, the glint of those wonderful eyes, the feel of that soft tongue on his cheek . . . No, never. To forget Ehrek would be like forgetting to breathe, and both would have the same outcome.

He would simply die.

The alpha watched with a pleased grumble as Ehrek turned and disappeared down the hole, Deimos' eyes watching that twitching tail. Instincts buried deep within him had him on his feet in an instant at the sight of that retreating tail, following Ehrek down into the darkness, though he reigned in those instincts before he made a fool of himself.

"This is impressive, love. I remember this as nothing more than a ragged badger den. You've made it into a veritable palace." And it smelled of nothing but his Ehrek, of his mate. The scent made him feel warm and happy, knowing that he had someone to curl against in the night no matter where the rest of his pack wandered.

"Good, if you did, I would have to come find you and make you remember," his voice echoed back up to the alpha from the tunnel below. Dei seemed to be the only good thing here, the only good thing so far in his life. He liked Zac and he liked Jax, but Dei was different. He knew that Dei was the same as him, prefering the males over the females. He had wondered why such a handsome male would never pass on his genes. It was rather... confusing. However, it was Dei's essence, he can do whatever he pleased with it.

Ehrek chuckled to himself as he wedged the sides of the tunnel a little more so it could fit the two of them better or at least a big wolf like Kek. By simply compacting the dirt, it made things much easier for him and Dei to get around. Never before had he ever done this, but what he did felt right as if he could not do it wrong. Must be those instincts...

Originally, the den had a faint scent of badger, but it become overwhelmed with his scent as he had started to dig it out for wolves than a small badger. The tunnel and the chamber beneath the tree was filled with his musky scent... until that was when Deimos entered. His scent was stronger, perhaps being the Alpha Male or just coming back from remarking his territory, but it became obvious of who this burrow belonged to.

"Well, I never had a permanant home, you know. We are vegabonds so we rove from place to place. I thought it would be nice to have a den to myself for whenever we come back here," he replied, muffled a little as his voice shot down the tunnel, riqochet off the bottom and back up, around his fur and to Dei. Crazy how sound works. "This place is ours now, not some ragged badger. Hopefully, it will fit us both, unlike the tree that we first met in."

Smiling warmly, Deimos went forward and buried his muzzle against the soft, thick fur of his mate's ruff and huffed softly, happily. Then he began to nibble at Ehrek's fur as he sat on his haunches, content with simply being in the same place as the charcoal blue male.

"I like it very much," he murmured between nibbles, breath warm in Ehrek's ear. One of his paws came up and hooked around Ehrek's shoulder and suddenly, they were both flat out on the floor of the den, Deimos having pulled Ehrek down with him as he lay down. He touched his nose to his mate's and stared into Ehrek's yellow eyes for many, silent moments. It almost seemed like he wasn't going to speak again, but then he murmured, very softly, "How would you like puppies . . . ?"

Right out of the blue. No warning what-so-ever.

Ehrek jerked up almost instantly after he muttered those words, his face blood red, his heart racing in his chest as warm, humid air puffed from his nose and maw. What did he just ask!? He knew that when a couple loved one another, they could produce cubs, thus passing their genes down to another generation, keeping it's bloodline alive in history. But that only worked with females! He stuttered on a single word that seemed to never come out before he looked at him, the entrance, the ground, the roof's opening, and back to him. He had no idea what to say! Was it even possible? Was there some sort of magic spell for a male to become pregnant? What did he mean!?

"P-P-P-Pup-pup-puppies!?" he stuttered out. His eyes were wide as beads of sweat flicked down his fur, matting it slightly. He knew about pups, quite clearly so that he tried to avoid females as such. They were lives like their own, not objects of sexual desires for males to use as they pleased. No, he tried to avoid that thought. Males, on the other paw, were quite virile.

"Dei, I-I dunno, they're great and all, b-but, how?"

Deimos seemed to grow morose, but not because of his mate's reaction. No, he was thinking about Jahka, and what the wounded gray had said.

"Ehrek . . . remember when I told you about Moirai . . . ?" he asked softly, but her name was coupled with a hate-filled growl. "I found a wolf last night . . . A wolf that Moirai has injured, badly. He . . . he told me that she forced herself on him." Deimos' blue eyes grew as hard as chips of ice, and his ears flattened to his skull in anger. "I want to get Jahka away from her. And those pups, when they are born."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 04, 2007 10:34 am

Ehrek looked at him. Moirai... that female Dei seemed to hate so much and yet feared some. If he could recall correctly, she was Deimos's sister... being Dei's mate, she was also his. She tried to kill him too, but not anymore. Deimos has someone to protect him and no one would kill Dei without having to go through him first.

"Of course I do..." his voice hinted of melancholy.

He listened intently to the words that ensued. A grey wolf, raped for his essence and she was pregnant. Deimos was going to be an Uncle of an unwanted litter of malpracticed union. Ehrek had no other choice but to go along with the male, he was after all his mate and alpha. This was more of a family matter however. These pups were endanger if they were Moirai's but how was he going to help?

"I can offer my help, Dei only because I love you. These pups are part of our family now that I am one of yours. But... where do we start? How do we find Jahka and Moirai?"

Frustration darkened Dei's eyes as he thought about his mate's question. It wasn't necessarily a question of how to find them; he was certain that he would find his sister, if she didn't find him first. No, it was more a matter of whether or not he was willing to endanger his mate and . . . kill his sister, for there was no doubt that they would fight, and he refused to lose and let her continue spreading pain and strife.

Nuzzling Ehrek lovingly, he let his head fall to the ground, enjoying the feel of the soft, cool earth against his fur. "All I know is that we have to wait. As much as I want to get Jahka out of her clutches, I also want to see those pups to safety. If we go after Jahka now and Moirai decides to run, we could lose her, and any chance of saving the pups, for good."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 12, 2007 12:04 pm

Ehrek sighed as he slowly eased himself down beside his mate once again. Deimos was an Alpha, a to be uncle, a mate, and a very responsible male. He wanted to save Jahka, a male Ehrek has never met, who was in danger and who was used for mating. Moirai was his sister who seemed like the worst thing to have traversed this ground, used a male for mating, and now pregnant. Deimos wanted to save this male and these pups.

"So then we wait. Rushing does sound as if we did so we lose a part of this little mission... to save Jahka, we might lose the pups. If we try to save the pups, we'll be able to get both of them because if we can distract Moirai, we can tell Jahka to run for it," he paused as he leaned up against the black-red male, his fur velvet to the touch. His tail wagged a little out of habituation from being with him for this long. "Now the question is: how long do we wait?"

To show that he was willing to go anywhere, above and beyond, for his mate, he gave a long steady lick on his cheek, nuzzling under his neck and chin softly. A murr rolling inside.

Sighing heavily, both in content and frustration, Deimos let the tension leave his body. He settled in closer to the warmth of his mate and lay his head on his paws.

"Four months," he murmured softly, closing his eyes.

If his intuition was correct, then Deimos was almost positive that Moirai had used Jahka very recently. Cubs took three months to grow before birth, yet the alpha didn't want to take them from Moirai as soon as they were born. They would need their mother's milk for a good month before it was safe to take them.

So they would wait. As agonizing as it would be, they would wait.

"Are you sure you want to get involved, my love?" he questioned, ice blue eyes glancing down at his mate. His voice grew pained, softer. "She could hurt you . . . "
PostPosted: Thu Dec 06, 2007 10:14 pm

"And she could hurt you. What difference does it make if I were there?" He nuzzled against his mate and laid himself down closer. "If I were you, I'd see myself as a constant distraction, a worry of losing you. Even if I did not go, I would still be wandering around wondering if you are alright. Besides, do you really want to leave me alone?"

Ehrek had been alone for far too long and after having Deimos, that just seemed to have fallen back into the shadows of his mind. Now thinking that Deimos did not want him near this female, it worried him that perhaps all this talk about mate and love was nothing but talk. He could never gaurentee someone returning to him.

"If you said No, I would have still gone, at least know that much," he smiled.

"Four months? I guess we wait then... but what do we do for four months?" the mate questioned, licking his Alpha's chin for an answer.

Deimos immediately shook his head, ears flapping with the violence of it. "No. I never want to leave you alone again." Licking Ehrek's ears, he reassured his mate that Ehrek was his and would always be his. The alpha had no intentions of anything else.

"Four months . . . We do what is normally done in a pack. We patrol, we hunt, we live. Maybe we can even stumble upon some of the others. I haven't seen them in a while myself," his voice started to drift off, and he yawned widely, showing all of his fangs. A content rumble fell from his throat, and he settled more deeply against Ehrek's warmth.

"For now, we sleep. In the morning . . . " Deimos wiggled his ears, grinning playfully. He laid his tail across Ehrek's and licked the other wolf's cheek again. "Goodnight, my love."
