Zulu was hiding in a splotch of seaweed, and as she watched a group of fish swim around her, she tried to decide on who looked the most delicious. It was usually impossible to blend her bright body into any surrounding, but the dullness of seaweed did great things for Zulu's abilities! Now now, which fish should she snag? Her bright eyes rolled back and forth, before finally deciding on a dark blue fish that lazily followed his friends.

And finally, in a large swoop, Zulu moved herself so that the water stunned the many fish, creating a mini force that confused the pack of creatures. Before the fish could react, Zulu snapped at the one she had her eyes on, and soon tasted the delight that was now in her stomach.

Ah yes, she was REALLY getting good at that sort of thing! The hunger that had filled her before had vanished, and Zulu was extremely proud of herself.

The mare then watched as the other fish fled, before moving herself around the seaweed once again. It would be a few minutes until anything else would wander over, since she had caused such a ruckus just a moment before.

Castellan swam cheerfully along the kelp beds, enjoying the way the currents in that area tugged at his fins, and pulled him across the underwater landscape if he was in the mood to let them. There were usually interesting things to watch too, like the panicked school of fish that swept past him in a great hurry. They had certainly passed close enough if he had an appetite for fish, but he had never touched the things. His diet consisted mostly of shrimp, and some seaweeds if he felt like it.

But even if the fish did not attract his attention, their hurry certainly did. A curious stallion like him simply couldn't resist the urge to follow their wake, and find out exactly why they were fleeing in such a hurry. It didn't even occur to him that whatever threatened them might be able to threaten him too.

Bah.. there was silence, and lots of it! The purple kelpi made her way out of the nasty seaweed, and sighed at how scared the fish always were. They would definitely be back.. but it would probably be awhile, and that meant BORING. The female didn't know what she wanted, and the fact that she was alone was bothering enough!

She felt content in the sense of hunger, so she allowed herself to float lazily in the warm current. She watched as many bubbles scattered around her, and she felt sleepy at the thought and sound of silence.

But hm, sleeping would be pretty pathetic, now wouldn't it? It was daytime afterall, and she wasn't a lazy character ALL the time!

With a light groan, she moved her body back on its correct side, and started to wander around the quiet area. There was nothing to listen to, and nothing to look at. And so because of that, Zulu idly ignored everything around her for many brief seconds.

Castellan was usually found moving fast, but as he lost track of where the fish had come from he had to slow down. Scenting the water didn't offer him any hints, he was flowing with the current and only able to smell what he had already passed, not what was ahead of him. His face slipped into a stubbornly disappointed frown. Where was the thing had made the fish move so fast?

It was a good thing the stallion hadn't been rocketing along like usual when he brushed through a patch of seaweed fronds, otherwise he would have run headlong into another aquatic soquili. As it was, he had just barely enough time to come to a stop in front of her.

"I saw some fish swimming real fast, did they come past you?" He asked with a grin, eager to find some clues and not so concerned about looking like a complete idiot.

Zulu blinked slightly, and backed away from this new 'situation'. From the stallion's tail and body, she concluded that he was a mer.. but why would he appear out of nowhere like that? From what he asked, it didn't seem like he was going to attack her or anything, but still.. could she trust a complete stranger? How odd was this!

Still feeling sort of eerie in thought, Zulu then realized she needed to answer the stallion's question. "Well, fish swam away from me." She then answered, while holding her ground eagerly. "Why do you ask?" Her hooves were shuffling slightly, and she kept herself ready if the stallion did so desire to attack.

The sea was full of monsters, and she needed to make sure that this mer wasn't one of them.

Castellan's fins seemed to drop slightly. "You were what scared the fish? I was curious..." He had been hoping it was something really big, maybe with scary teeth, and creepy glowing bits like his creepy angler friend. This mer wasn't very big, nor was she very scary. But her side fins were interesting, and her tail was...

The stallion's thoughts abruptly cut off as he realized that this mare wasn't a mer like him at all, she had four legs like the ones who lived in the air! He couldn't help but stare out of fascination and confusion.

Loosening her face into a glare, she snorted at the stallion, and let a few buddles out of her nose. So she wasn't impressive to him? His staring was basically proving that to her, and he obviously hadn't seen a Kelpi before. "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize STARING was free game. If you have a problem with me buddy, then you might want to keep walking. Don't think I'm a pushover." And with that, the grumpy mare cracked her neck and lowered her snout. "If you so desire, I'll show you exactly what scared those idiotic fish."

And.. her true nature was coming out.. as usual.

But still, a part of her felt sort of silly for overreacting so quickly, but in most cases she couldn't help that. It was just something that always seemed to happen.

Castellan seemed not at all phased by her attitude, instead of backing off or sticking up for himself he just grinned. "You'll show me how you scared the fish? They never really get very frightened of me, they just kinda swim away for a bit... Unless I chase after them, but then they usually stop when I stop chasing them."

He wrapped his tail around the base of some nearby seaweed fronds, and wiggled eagerly as he waited for the mare to show him what she did to frighten off the fish.

Staring at the male some more, Zulu shook her head and sighed confusedly. He didn't seem phased AT ALL, and she didn't know what to think about that! "Um, probably because you are not someone who is very scary or intimidating." So far the Mer didn't have an attitude at all, but his personality was throwing the Kelpi off. What was he thinking, being so kind and talkative when he didn't even know the mare? She had never met someone like that before.

"Fish are pretty stupid, so its not hard to scare them away. You should keep practicing so you get better.." He probably needed to bulk up, or something. "If you startle them by a fast movement, they will always flee out of sight since they don't understand what's around them."

"What? Of course I'm intimidating," Castellan frowned, puffing out his chest a bit. "I can be scary when I want to be, even if I don't have sharp teeth, or glowy eyes." His tail curled a bit more and he couldn't help but smile. The scariest mer he knew had sharp teeth and glowy eyes, but that one was also a grump.

The stallion watched a stray fish swim by. "Fast, eh?" He grinned sneakily and then lunged towards the fish, which only fled out of his reach before slowing back down to it's usual pace.

"I can still see it." Castellan made a disgruntled face, and curled back around the seaweed.

Zulu shook her head at the stallion's tactics, and rolled her eyes in a usual fashion. "Whatever, that wasn't scary at all. I'm sorry to inform you but, it wasn't." Moving her own tail around to the side of her, she knocked at some seaweed suddenly to watch a few fish scramble out. "I don't really know what makes someone scary but, you gotta have th right attitude, and being pretty angry is natural for me."

Her grumpiness was always the same, and she never adjusted her mood in any fashion. "You don't see me having glowy eyes or sharp teeth, and I can still get the stupid fish outta here."

With a slight yawn, she stomped a few steps away from him to examine a strange plant. Another habit of hers was to rudely walk away from someone while in the middle of a conversation, since the conversation itself was never that important to her. "But anyway, where was this conversation going? I forgot." And with a swift head turn back, she eyed the stallion wearily.

Castellan uncurled from his frond of seaweed and followed along after the unusual mare, almost as though he took her walking away as an invitation for him to follow. "I can be scary," he said confidently, as though it was a matter of fact instead of something he had yet to prove.

She was starting to remind him of his angler friend, so her attitude didn't put him off in the slightest. He was used to dealing with huffiness and grumpiness. The familiarity even cheered him slightly, further dulling his common sense. "Yeah, you're kind of scary without all that. Where are you going?"

He was.. following her? Still looking at him with a grumpy expression, Zulu tilted her head and grinned sheepishly. "My my, you follow me like a little duckling. You are a curious fellow, aren't ya?" She felt like she should talk to him as if he were young, since his maturity level was so happy and calm. Clearly it was the complete opposite of her.

"Well I am glad you have come to that conclusion." She then mentioned, while turning her head back to the emptiness in front of her. "I'm not going anywhere, just wandering. Why, where should I be going?" With a sneaky grin, she watched the Mer and wondered what went on in his strange mind. "This is a pretty boring area, that's why I live here."

The stallion swam right up next to her and mimicked her tilted head. "Duckling?" Being mostly a marine creature and unfamiliar with shoreline inhabitants, he wasn't entirely sure what she was referring to. Yet when it came to curious, she had him pinned.

"I like exciting things," he said with a grin. He swam faster than the mare, but with all his twisting and curling around in the water as he moved he kept her pace perfectly. "I don't see why you would live anywhere boring, I've never really lived anywhere because it gets dull after awhile. So I move somewhere new and it's always more interesting than the place I left."

Zulu lazily turned her head to face his, and she sighed to herself once again. "Ducklings, you know. They have wings and silly little feet. They swim on the top of the water, only sticking their heads into nab fish.." By the look on the stallions face, she assumed he had never seen them before. "Yeah, you'll know what they are if you see them." She then concluded, with a light grunt while venturing forward.

As she moved through the water, she noticed the pesky stallion was keeping up with her, which made her lower her ears noticeably. What he said about areas was not surprising to her, since his personality sounded as though he enjoyed moving around all the time.

"Boring is easy, so why would I choose something not easy?" Throwing a question back at him, she lifted her lip in a toothy frown. "Interesting is complicating, but you must enjoy complicating then."
