In our October newspaper we gave you guys an activity to do for Samhain.

Here's the activity:
Quote:
Samhain Door Wreath

Materials:
Items from Nature, fine wire, sheet of corrugated cardboard, collection sack, small nail.

First, take a Nature hike. Collect items from nature, such as pine cones, seeds, leaves, berry bunches (remember how important it is to thank the plant for its gift, and to take only what is needed.), acorns and caps, flowers, etc. When you get home, spread out collection on some newspaper. Cut out a circle about 15" in diameter, from the cardboard. Cut a smaller circle out of the middle. Choose which objects go where on the cardboard background. Wrap the wire around each object so it can be fastened to the cardboard. Poke two small holes in the cardboard ring for each item. Feed the wire through and twist in back. Keep fastening objects onto the ring until it is full and no cardboard shows. Hang the wreath on the front door with the nail. (Remember that "wreaths of bounty" used to symbolize giving thanks for a prosperous year, and an invitation for others less fortunate to share in the good fortune.)

This activity taken from www.wicca.com/akasha/samhainchildren.htm. All copyrights remain with the original author of this activity.

If you do this activity, we'd love to see it. Take a picture of it and post it here. Everyone who does this activity and posts their results here will get 250 gold. Of course, you don't have to do this activity if you don't want. If you have another Samhain activity (such as carving a pumpkin!) that you'd like to do, then please feel free to post that here as well!

I carved a pumpkin for Samhain! biggrin On Samhain night, we'll put a candle inside and it will help light the way for the deceased. This is my tradition anyways. lol. heart

I may do it on a smaller scale...or I may take embroidery floss (black and orange) and string a wreath out of things I found outside...

Gets the juices going! lol

Sorry, but the pumpkin is so very cute, really. When I saw it, it gave me a giggly smile.

I don't have a camera, but I made my wreath with my Girl Scouts (they thought it was a harvest wreath, well it is, really) back about 5 years ago. I still hang it on my door every year.
