He had emerged like a shadow looming over the ground from his safe haven (aka his home) to explore the world once more. Windflame had felt the need to hunt more often as of late, for he could no longer fight back against his dark blood of taint. He acknowledged that he truly was evil, and could find more pleasure in blood baths than in seeking to rebuke his condemnation. Because he now realized his past mistakes--or perhaps he'd planned them, it had been long since he calculated his recent ideas--he also felt the constant need to drink his "mate's" blood, or that of his daughters.

It did not matter to him whether they lived or died--no longer did he care, he was a beast of the dark, and he would not, could not, should not, deny his Kalona self any longer. The meeting with an ancient Kalona female had taught him much, and now, his fangs gleamed dangerously as he smirked slightly, the thrill of the hunt throbbing painfully in his veins. Soul-seeking, blood-thirsting urges ripped though his body as he skulked about in the shadows of the darkness, with only the moon and stars at his back glowing softly for light. Not that it mattered, for his coat was so black not even the twinkling lights of the stars--or the pale beam of the moon--could show reflection, and only the blood-scarlet color of his hooves, eyes, and markings eerily glowed. His hair did not shine. Though it was silky and soft to the touch, those who dared near him, let alone touch him, would pay for their invasion.

Just like that one idiotic, lesser mare from long ago. He had almost gotten her. She had been lucky, to be able to escape him. He had never seen her again, but perhaps that was better for her rather than the other way around. He was irritated at the idea that he had lost his prey, whom originally, at first, had only been a simple observance, soon to be cast aside as nothing more than a passing interest. Now, however, he was out. The true Bloodrider, one who seeks constant blood, had arrived. No more did the ideal "polite" Kalona stallion of old appear. Now, even his family, were they to be called "family" at all, feared him... He smiled a smile that would cause any who saw it to shudder or freeze in terror.

The female's tail stuck straight outward as it twitched behind her with an angered passion. Before her was an angry grizzly bear whose meal had just been stolen by the white femme. Her wings flashed outward, making her appear bigger as her long, gleaming fangs flashed at it. It's fight was giving up because even it knew it was better meat than the fish caught. The female stood by the stream, her coat striking under the moonlite.

She let a low rumbling growl out and it fled the scene quickly. As soon as it did she let her wings fall to her side and tail go limp as she began her little meal. She just wanted the fight, not so much the fish but she would take it as a midnight snack. And that it was.

Her orbs flickered, her kalona self the beast that lay inside her was clawing out and it was in full throttle this night. She would not disappoint it. Oh no, her nice self was far gone. This was the devious, conniving, vile little creature with a short temper that was inside and would kill, torture for fun. Because it loved it, needed it, craved for it. And she would give in and let it have it for in the day when there were those watching she could remain calm and satiated.

Her ears flickered forward, listening for anything besides the rush of the stream but found nothing to her disappointment. So she fed and would wait to see what this night would bring.

He skulked about quietly when his experienced ears picked up the soft sound of trickling water, and as he followed the sound, he heard the quicker rush of speeding water, and then he found himself at the edge of a river, where there was a break in the forest and trees. He kept to the shadows, however, but the sounds of growls caught his attention. His curiosity rose as he moved as silently as a cat down the riverside, up-river. His sharp eyes picked out a giant grizzly bear glaring and growling at... he blinked. A white Kalona female... what was it with his kind's females being pale colored? Or multi-colored, in fact!? Well, besides Ariston, but Ariston was a unique Kalona in his own right. Ah...

Seeing that his mind had wandered he saw that the bear had chosen wisely to back off, and he concluded when he saw the female drop her guard and bent down to eat something--perhaps that was why the bear had braved to attack even a Kalona--that the female had stolen the creature's food source. He smirked. Amusement and the idea of a thrilling game of cat and mouse would be played tonight, and knowing the female would probably sense his presence soon, he stepped out of the shadows, outside of her vision. He remained quiet, eager to see if this female was as sharp as the others... his kind were highly intelligent, after all, which was why he sneered at himself half the time, for the mistake of mating with a lesser, though the breeding intricacies between certainly made interesting blood lineage.

The female had felt some tiny fish boned slide down her throat and she decided she was done. As she was about to move forward her ears flared back. Something wasn't right, she could feel it...hear it. It wasn't making itself hidden therefore it was cocky. She could only guess what it was as she turned her head her orbs grazed to the unfamiliar scent that was definantly of evil breed. Pure.

She narrowed her eyes to see a darker looking male with a soft smirk it seemed upon his face. She tilted her head as her tail flickered agitated. She didn't trust him. He seemed the type that didn't like half breeds and she was one of them. She wouldn't deny that half of her was partial unicorn but she wouldn't deny her kalona self either.

"Can I help you with something?" she asked in a rather hissy tone, he said nothing yet watched. She felt like he was a peeping tom or some sort of unwanted stalker for the moment. He had longer hair to...she had a fetish with hair...she couldn't remove her eyes for a moment...or two

He quirked an eyebrow at her attitude, and then it dawned on him when he saw the single horn that adorned her forehead. A half-breed? He nearly scoffed at his mishap, the idea of running into more half-breeds! But he did not deny the fact that they made excellent creatures for the Kalona world, though their lesser blood certainly made them less... wild. A talker she seemed, though when her eyes strayed to his impossibly long hair, pulled together in a loosening braid, with a few strands escaping here and there, he nearly--nearly let loose an amused laugh.

Perhaps he himself appeared half-breed, for he did not carry the apendage that was the norm for a Kalona tail. No, he was truly a pure breed of a Kalona, though he did not look it, thanks to his odd tail. However, that was beside the point, and perhaps the mare in front of him appeared more pure than he. She pulled the appearance off better, certainly. The smirk on his face vanished as he schooled his expression, and spoke in his alluring, soft baritone voice. "You? Help this one? Perhaps..." he answered her almost carelessly, because he found her defensive tone as an opening to possibly attack her.

Most Kalona--at least, those from his old Clan--usually greeted others with a quick brawl, but as the female did not come from his old Clan, he greeted her as he would any other normally. A simple, short, polite nod of acknowledgement. "The bear. Did you steal its prey?" He wanted the scene he had observed earlier confirmed, so that his curiosity be sated, and then perhaps the game of cat and mouse could be started, and finished. He was aching dearly to have a challenge when it came to hunting... the smaller, lesser creatures he had been bound to hunt were short-lived, and oft times he came away from his hunt disappointed, though sated.

The female watched, she could almost read his thought. Just like every other kalona. Judging because she wasn't a pure, who knew what hell would let loose if she was. She was already stirring up hell as it was. Her orbs narrowed at him. His voice wasn't deep...or not as she thought it would be. It wasn't horribly unpleasant to the ears either so she could cope with him...for now.

Her wings flared back, as if she were ready to strike if he were too. She'd take him out. Or she would die trying, she had taken out other kalonas before it wouldn't be the first time. But she didn't think that would be necessary at the moment. For he was being unusually decent for the normal kalona for the time being.

She looked to the eaten fish's bones. "Yes, why?" Her stomach rumbled, no damn scrawny fish would fill the beast within. She needed something bigger, she would have been better off finishing the bear off. Her tail twitched looking to him. Wondering what was being thought of behing those cruel crimson orbs.

He stared at the blue-spotted, white Kalona female for a long time, unnerving in its unwavering gaze. He cocked his head; he was probably confusing the damned creature by merely just standing there, but he couldn't ignore the nagging voice at the back of his mind. It sounded eeriely familiar, but he let it be as he made a move to circle around her, much like the predator he was. Though the femme was more than ready to take him on--she certainly looked it when her guard came up 100%--he was not planning on attacking her quite yet. She was too interesting a specimen to kill at the moment.

Three horns! The single horn amongst her head might as well have the powerful of invisibility, elsewise the mare could pull off being pure-bred, which effectively would work. She was only half-breed because of the single horn in the middle of her forehead... somehow, she reminded him of someone, and for a moment, the old Windflame came back as he stared at her horn. Something about that horn was bothering him, but since he could not figure out why or understand why, he finally chose to ignore it. "Why take the fish, and not the bear? Surely your hunger still..." he paused as her stomach growled, and grinned dangerously, "...Ah, I have been answered."

He circled back, and came to a stop as he faced at an odd angle. "I came hoping for a... hunt." He glanced away, and then back, the wild look in his eyes gone, strangely replaced by a calm... a 'calm before the storm', in a cliche way. "Perhaps a... unique creature... like you could assist me?" So, he was giving her a dangerous invitation; he, after all, due to the flickering reflections of light, appeared to fade in and out of the darkness, only his eyes and markings glowing frighteningly. If he could get her to agree to a 'game'... all the better. He hadn't had a challenge in a while, he repeated to himself, and it wouldn't hurt to make the mare trust him... sort of. She wouldn't completely trust him, but just trusting him a little would work.

He nearly growled at himself, knowing he had softened due to the presence of certain irritable mares... his mate, and his daughter, Blackfire. He needed to teach a few lessons as to why he was the dominant one in the family. His thoughts getting away from him, he quickly focused his attention back on the female, hoping he hadn't missed anything she had said in response to his out-of-the-ordinary question.

She wasn't completely confused, she was often mistaken for a pure bred but she made it due clear that she wasn't and they should back the hell off if they thought they were better. She had a few heads to prove it. Her ebon mane fell to her side as she cocked her head to him with a raised brow. "Perhaps I just wanted the slight rush of pissing off a bear." she retorted with the flick of her tail.

As he circled her, she arched her neck...she hated when male's did that. It was as if it were a sign of dominance or superiority it made her knees give in sometimes if it were the right one. Others it made her want to spill there blood for being ignorant who thought they were martyrs.

"What kind of hunt are you suggesting?" she asked still unaware of the male's name and the doing in which he asked for. He seemed tormented inside for some seemingly unwanted thoughts but as of late she hadn't met a kalona that didn't. Her head lifted to meet his gaze as her tail flicked back and fourth as a bad habit it seemed.

She wasn't a complete idiot (like many mares he had met, save for the one or two female Kalona... but most female Kalona were extremely intelligent, therefore he knew when one was a complete moron or at least was too happy-go-lucky for their own good) and then he felt his lips move upward in a smirk of amusement. "Ah, the rush of adrenaline." He knew his circling about her was getting on her nerves, but it was more habit that he did this rather than to intimidate her (well, at the moment).

The mare had done enough to amuse him, and he decided that perhaps a different hunt was in order after all. Rarely was he amused (except through his "family" and perhaps when he was watching a Soquili begging for their lives). When the mare arched her neck, he stopped and faced her, raising an eyebrow. "You think that suggests to me I think you lesser? Do not make such a misconception about this one. All are equal if they have Kalona blood." He said the words with such seriousness and obvious disdain. He had half-breed children himself, but that did not mean he thought them lesser in status... just weaker.

Puritiy equated to strength, but even those who were tainted were strong in their own way. Now that he saw she was part unicorn, he only scoffed at her subtle way of telling him he should not think of her as less than he. "Does it matter? We are Kalona. We hunt what we hunt." He turned slightly, but only a bit as he studied the surrounding area. "Shall we hunt for special prey?" He was in the mood to scare off some lesser Soquili (yes, just scare, not necessarily kill... the mare in front of him had destroyed that particular feeling) and he was not wanting to go home too soon, at the moment.

She eyed him carefully, she found that it seemed to him he had found a new type of meat. He was odd to her, she had never met his breed. He wasn't the typical kalona either though she even wondered if kalona had a definition and category besides looks because all were psychotic in their own little ways.

"Not necessarily lesser, but something of the sort," she retorted with a small smirk. "Not that I care."

Her cool orbs gazed over him as her tail flicked wildly behind her a she closed the distance between them as she looked up to him. Her tail ran up his back leg, deviously. Her mind was focused on more than one. "What prey do you wish to hunt, for indeed I am hungry and I would love a good chase." She turned from him as her ears flattened looking at the setting "though I would find it quite odd to hunt with someone I do not even know the name of." she implied as her wings folded back to her sides.

He watched her coldly as he ignored her tail, finding that it was pitiful she would try to do something like that to him. She was small compared to him (most mares usually were, sadly) and at the moment, both he and she were starving. "Windflame Bloodrider," he introduced himself abruptly, seeing as he hadn't done so earlier. He did not continue and ask what the mare's name was, for he brushed by her quickly, like the wind.

Adrenaline was slowly waking as he turned with gleaming eyes. "We shall hunt for lions." He had hunted a few before, and they had proved to be quite the challenge. Lions were predators themselves, but when turned prey, they had interesting results. Some of the lions would fight back, despite how it was futile. Others would run away (the smarter ones, at least) and cause him more problems when hunting, as when the lions that fought would at least stay in one place as he played the game of impending death.

He remembered that his mate and children had seen him hunt, once before, by pure accident. He also remembered that he hadn't cared as blood dripped from muzzle and onto his skin as he grinned maniacally at them. Blackfire had backed up a step or so, Hinode had hissed, while Ringlet had tried not to gag. His mate was the one most affected, but he did not care for her anymore. She was merely a passing fling. He turned his scarlet gaze upon the other mare once more. "Are you game...?"

Her cool eyes washed over him as he went on his little excitement rampage, lions. Now this was intriguing, she too had hunted them and found them most delightful. Feisty little things they were...She smiled softly.

"I am not game..." she replied sullenly before grinning darkly. "I'm hunter." Her wings stretched themselves before drawing back to her sides. He was not so bad, the only ones she had ever had problems with were skinwalkers she would not care if they were all dead. She would love to taste their blood again, it really was bittersweet. But tonight was not skinwalker nor their childeren...unfortunatly.

She looked to him as he seemed to go into a day dream, "Are you alright there?" she wasn't going to go out with someone who didn't have their mind at the right spot...well who did these days but she wouldn't want someone turning on herself. That indeed would be a challenge.

His eyes had always been a scarlet color, but this night they glowed a bright, blood-red. He was eager for the hunt. Lions. Normally predators for Soquili, but they now were also prey. The most challenging kind, and also the only one of a kind who could stir up a challenge within his dulled spirit.

"Name?" he inquired, finding it obvious that if she didn't want to be called anything then she ought to give him her name. "Game? No, you're quite... game," he agreed, a smirk rising softly on his maw. "...Hunter, indeed," he chuckled lowly, and then proceeded to ignore her tendency to spread her wings to appear bigger and stronger.

He himself had his wings pressed tightly against his sides; though, even that appearance made him appear larger than most others. A feral grin hung from his mouth as he turned to the mare behind him. He knew she would not attack him as of yet, but were she ever to, she would soon regret it. "What is it in your language... I am doing overly too well," he answered, and then with the speed and natural ability of his warrior skills, vanished into the shadows.

Windflame Bloodrider was out on the hunt.

The female looked to him, "Pandora." she stated. He was awfully big, she had taken notice. No doubt of it, it was one of his better attributes. She smiled, indeed she was the predator. His laugh sent a thrill through her, she did not know why but it did. It wasn't so often you got to here a kalona do such things.

"My language?" she questioned as she followed him into the night to seek blood and flesh and the thrill of a kill.

Pandora too was out on the hunt with Windflame Bloodrider.

He had found them; a small pride, but they would do. Unfortunately, as they tended to sleep more than they were up and about, this hunt would be much less challenging than he thought. His ears were straight up and swiveling around as he listened to even the softest cricket noise, careful to move as if he were as silent as house cat. ...So her name is Pandora, processed in his mind for a fleeting moment, and no more. He made a note to make sure to call her by her name from then on... female Kalona were terrifying if angered to a certain point.

He did not answer her question when she asked "her language" for he did not feel up to explaining something he considered trivial. He grinned, fangs glinting in the night as he felt the mare's presence come up behind him. "You are predator... you see them?" He whispered below his breath, barely loud enough for even the mare next to him to hear. It was best they used stealth for now; after all, to reveal their identities would prove fatal. He planned to get through this hunt unscathed, as he always did when hunting. He was not about to get wounded by accident, or due to his "partner's" folly... though he doubted the mare was clumsy, compared to... her. Ringlet vanished quickly from his mind as the bloodlust reared its ugly head within Windflame.
