She could still hear it the whipping of the sand in the hot, dry wind. Unlike this place...moist and chilling. Her pelt shivered almost missing the dry heat and blasting sun to this cool breeze where the sun shone but provided little. The desert princess peered the sun almost scorning it with those cool blues.

Her ears flickered back as she pawed at the sea shore, splashing a little before wrinkling her nose. Salty...she looked to the green and blue waves colliding before the currents. Its was nice...her tail flicked. She tried to imagine there being a sun and it made her wings ruffle before a chill ran down her spine. She sighed softly, this place was most different. She walked along the beach, finding all sorts of creatures. Shells, crabs, longer looking crabs that laid in the water. Birds that came to eat the shells. It was a rather intriguing ecosystem compared to the prickly cacti and lizards that roamed about.

She then wondered if any other soquili roamed these parts, who could love this place as much as she loved her desert.

He picked his way about the cool, familiar, moist land as he explored about liesurely, happy to take his time as always. Always the quiet one, he enjoyed the many simple pleasure of the nature around him, and was certainly not expecting much company in such weather as this. For him, this was his favorite time of year, where things were muffled by the sound of the crisp, white snow and one could hear the soft whisperings of the cold breeze, and hear soft animal noises, making it sound like gentle, lullaby-isque singing.

Today, Hinote had planned to have some time to himself, for, although he was the middle brother, he tired of watching his elder brother, for Roka wandered about mindlessly, and sometimes within his own mind. He didn't mind it much, Roka was a fun brother, and so Hinote took things in stride... as always. He was similar to their father, Orchu, in that he was laid-back and semi-serious, but for the most part was fun-loving, gentle, and of course, quiet.

Many would often jump in surprise if he suddenly spoke, despite him being in their presence oft times, but they would forget he was there... for he was so silent. An observer on the side, always watching. He smiled brightly at the sun, though it cast no warmth upon the land this day. His gold eyes sparkled and glowed as the sun's rays reflected off his irises, and so he proceeded on his "day off" to relax and enjoy the quiet around him, with lazy thoughts jumping in and out of his mind.

The female padded along the sandy shore...bored. She thought of those in the past she had met, her family and the dramatics that lied within it as well as those she hadn't met. The tens, hundreds, thousands even...she couldn't keep up with that. Though she was greatful for the ones she had met, she was missing something. Something that would fufill her...she didn't know what it was but when the time came she felt like she'd know. Her orbs grazed along the horizon as a scent drew near but she could not lay eyes upon who was coming her way. So there were those who roamed here...but not many. For it was obviously vacant, or rather checked out for the day.

She had still decided that she would live for the moment, and not worry as others did back home. To worry for the next day, lets you miss on that of the day of. She shook her head, she didn't want to miss anything that could be the greatest thing to happen to her yet she let it run right past her nose. No way. The young mare looked to the heavens, today was going to be a good day. She could feel it.

He was softly humming to himself out of sheer boredom, though how one like Hinote could be bored would remain a mystery. In reality, he wasn't bored, he was just enjoying himself, as always. Humming softly to himself, though the sound could barely be heard above even the softest breeze, was merely something to do. It was his small way of expressing his joy in life, of how he was content. He was surely a stallion of such gentleness, one wouldn't know he was very tough at all. Or even that he knew how to fight, but then, Hinote reflected, most animals knew instinctively how to fight, though it only happened on an adrenaline rush, the flight-or-fight instinct.

Most prey would run from predators, a fact in the circle of life. However, if cornered, even the gentlest of creatures would "brave" the danger to escape into freedom. His niece, Mocha (though she was older than him, but the oddities of family relations did not bother him much), had done such a venture, for she was a mare who enjoyed action and needed to be constantly on the move. Mocha was a kind, caring mare, however, and whichever stallion caught her attention was lucky indeed. Hinote had a slight, fond smile on his face as he thought about his hyperactive, older-than-him niece, daughter of his elder sister Nora. The mare was a pretty mare despite what she though, and Hinote refused to let Mocha believe otherwise.

Anyhow, his thoughts were wandering again. As he focused his golden, laughing eyes back on his surroundings, he spotted a darkened silhouette against the white snow, which in reality was clean, white sparkling sand. Being nearly white himself, mostly silver, he blended in neatly with the nature, and he carefully picked his way towards the new guest, wondering where she had come from. Mares like her who had dark fur coats didn't usually venture this close to the ocean, let alone near places so chilling. Then again, that was merely an assumption, for he had met so few mares in his life as it was, besides family.

One would think because of addaptation a dark coat would be more useful for cool weathers to soak up the sun and lighter colors for the heat but apparently it was not so. She was wandering quite aimlessly as she hadn't an idea where she was at, at this paticular moment but perhaps she would find her way eventually. If all else failed she could take to the skies. It seemed it was harder these days to find a flying partner. Ares was always busy these days and she just hadn't had as much fun as usual. She shrugged, her thoughts were getting to her.

Her family was a rather complicated situation. All of her brothers seemed to be 'in love' which she didn't paticulary believe in...and then it seemed as her father and mother were disappointed at the thought of her not finding that special someone. Maybe she didn't want one...she huffed. They could all have there little females and she could stick to being her and not being bound by chains of another. She just wanted to take it easy and not be frantic of such things. She just needed to have some fun and stop analyzing things. Though she had to admit, her siblings were rather charming and more appealing to the eye than herself. It was just a fact

She heard soft feet traveling. Her ears flickered as she turned her head to see a white shadow among the sand, almost blending into it if it weren't for his markings. Perhaps thats why she had missed him the first time. How stupid of her. Her orbs looked to him with an almost hardened expression until she realized it and she managed to smile gently to him. Nodding softly accepting his prescence in her company.

His thoughts strayed towards a cheerful mare named Del'nal for a moment before he locked eyes with the stranger. Her startling blue eyes made him blink for a moment, making his pause in surprise to see that she had noticed him. Then he returned her gentle smile with an amused one of his own. Hinote had forgotten about his markings, so of course she'd spot him eventually, if not at first. He pawed the white sand beneath him for a moment, a silent gesture that suggested he was thinking, or rather, deciding about his next move.

Should he welcome her to this territory, or should he just let the mare wander about on her own? Hinote knew the answer before he really though any other decisions he could make, and that was that he couldn't leave the mare by herself, friend or foe, stranger that she was. He did not, however, make a move to move towards her. There was something in her gaze that had hit him head on before her piercing eyes had faded into gentleness. Wondering what could have made her look like that towards him, it never occurred to Hinote that he could have been threatening, as he was a stranger to her.

For now, though, he locked gazes with the mare, and smiled. He acknolwedged her acceptance and cocked his head to the side, a question. A slight breeze passed by, lifting and playing with his hair for a bit before it danced away, perhaps to play with the fish or to play with the mare. A silent chuckle shook about his body, as he broke the staring contest and started out towards the sparkling ocean blue. It always amazed him how vast the sea was. It was wonderful gift, but a dangerous gift it not taken into caution. But just like its counterpart, land, the ocean had its good and bad sides, and Hinote loved it all.

He looked suprised that she had seen him, was he planning some sneak attack or something. She had to laugh at the thought to herself, he didn't seem the type. He seemed to be her opposite really, she was more lively...he seemed more laid back just by glancing at him. His smiled was pleasant though, she seemed to understand those golden orbs without words.

She watched him as he started to walk away? She blinked as she walked a bit closer but not to much. "Not even a hello...in words?" she asked with a soft melodic voice. Her golden and azure mane blew to the side with the ocean breeze as she looked to him.

It seemed...that someone could love the ocean as much as she loved her desert plains. She smiled softly. Her eyes wandered where his went as she kept her distance. Perhaps he could teach her what was so great about this god forbidden place. Sure it was pretty, but cold as hell at the moment. Wait...was that an oxymoron?

The cold breeze carried the mares words to him, causing Hinote to turn his golden gaze back on her. He cocked his head curiously, then tilted it in a way that spoke of invitation. He was inviting her to see why he loved this place so much, why he enjoyed nature, so much. If given the opportunity, Hinote would probably love the desert, as well. Mindlessly, he stepped slightly into the small tide, and shivered as the chilliness of the salty water spread throughout his body.

Well, that certainly woke him up! Musing idly about random little things, he smiled in the mare's direction, only answering with one word to her question. "Hinote." He looked away again and stepped along the shore, and then paused, and looked back. He was waiting for her to follow him, and to give him her name. It was rude--well, not quite--not to introduce each other after all, even if the greetings had been quiet, only skilled gestures to indicate when he was 'speaking'. Well, he'd always been a quiet one...

Her brow rose, she didn't knew if she trusted him. But what had she to lose? She could keep roaming, by herself in boredom. Or perhaps join the stallion and have company while seeing whatever he saw. Her options were weighed and it was obvious which one won. She hated being bored and alone, despite what everyone else thought.

She sauntered through the sand to him, yet kept a distance still. His name was Hinote, it was unique...in her opinnion. "Isis," she replied with a slight hesitance as she watched him as he made his way through the shore line. The ocean breeze picking her mane from the white sand and letting it thrash mindlessly.

Maybe this was just how he was, spoke in gestures not words...like Raina. Except Raina didn't have a voice, a mute so it seemed to be quite different. As if he just chose not to, and would rather listen. Which she hadn't a problem with, she just wasn't the type to spout off about random things.

"Beautiful," he asserted, thinking that the mare's name complimented her perfectly. His thoughts did not stray on her long, however, as a sudden breeze carried the fresh scent of the ocean towards him, making him smile slightly. The wind was always playing with him here; it played with everyone, but when it got angry, he worried that it would destroy and then later regret its action. Sometimes the air felt sad on certain days... or perhaps that was his own mood, he did not know. He was normally a cheerful, quiet fellow after all.

Seeing that she was approaching him, if still a bit cautious, he approved of her automatically. Most mares like Del'nal (a sweet, adorable mare who loved butterflies and who he had accidentally run into without meaning to). He smiled gently at the mare but made no move to go near her nor did he move away. It was a safe bet to say he had no wish to harm her (he was a gentle stallion; he wouldn't wish to harm anyone) and at the moment he was relaxing in the sun with the wind playing about with his feathers.

As long as the mare decided to stay quiet, or talk, or any number of things, Hinote didn't mind. It was just a part of nature and its peace, sometimes shattered by its anger. But he knew it was only taking the time to nourish, and nature did not stay angry for too long. He finally focused back on the mare with a sweet smile. "Come," he prompted. He felt like he needed to show, or at least escort, this mare around the area until she needed to leave. It wouldn't do to leave a mare by herself, even if she appeared to have the ability to take care.

"What is this beauty you speak of?" she asked with the same coldness of the water that splashed at her hooves. She watched his expressions, his movements and perhaps some of the thoughts that could dwell in the back of his mind as she stood there.

Her mane was lifted and then thrashed she thought of these moist winds as moody. Though the desert wasn't any better they were warmer at least. It made a shiver trail down her spine and move her legs a bit as she looked towards him as he spoke again, come? Thats all he had to say? Thats lame. He was so tranquil, and so laid back she thought it would be hard to stay with him or one such as him over a long period of time but perhaps time would tell of difference.

"Go where?" she questioned again.

A soft, amused smile appeared on his face as he merely walked away, expecting her to follow. He was planning to show her the majesty of the ocean and its wonders, the sands that sparkled so brightly with the sun, it was as if the stars had come down to play with them.

"Go... to the water," he answered nostalgically, and stopped right where the tide stopped as it came, the seawater barely lipping at his hooves. "Cold... but beautiful." He prompted again, and then turned to the mare. He tilted his head, and then smiled brightly. "Isis," he began, "you are not familiar with the ocean."

More a statement rather than a question, really, but it was obvious with how she continually shivered from time to time. He let his other question be silently answered as well; where had she come from? ...And how had she made her way to this land?

She blinked, wanting to ask 'Are you kidding me, it's got to be #%$^ing colder than hell in their.' But she wanted to learn more of this cold, beautiful water...that was, in his eyes. She lowered her nose to the salty waters and was splashed as if it knew she were going to do that and it was a slap on the wrist for trying. She brought her head back looking to the stallion...'great water with an attitude'.

"No." she replied. "I am not of this place. I come from where the air is hot and dry. Where the sun beats down on warm sands and the wind whips it up into large sand storms." she smiled. "Creatures dwell in the ground for moisture or the cacti that are spotted around it. Their are all sorts of odd creatures that dwell in my desert home." she sighed. Home sick. She hoped this place would be...comferting. She had heard it was a serene place.

He rippled to life (or so it seemed) as he listened to the mare describe her home. It sounded interesting, if a lot hotter than he liked. He wondered what cacti was for a moment, and then shrugged, figuring that once he traveled he would find this place that Isis spoke of.

"Home is where the heart rests best," he commented idly, seeing that she didn't seem very happy here. A visit perhaps would suit her better, as many would feel safer and more comfortable in environments they'd known as "home" for a good long time.

Especially if they grew up there.

"Do not drink the water," he warned as he stepped closer towards the freezing chill of the sea. Despite how good it felt by waking one up, it also could cause illness and shivers for long weeks. Hinote did not wish to linger longer than necessary, although today the ocean was beautiful in its majesty.
