The cool autumn breeze lifted the ebony mane of a female mare that had eyes that could burn through the coldest hearts. The golden and azure strands intertwined with eachother as she gazed over the landscape. She could smell the sea. The salt water seemed to envelope her senses and take a hold with a grasp she couldn't remove herself from. Her maw lifted to the sky as she looked back down at the edge of the steep cliff.
In the distance she could see a mer soquili jump once until it fell silent. The only noise was that of the water and the wind blowing through the hollowed trees. Her hooves crunched as she paced through out the leaves that had turned greys and blacks as the sun had passed and moon had rose.
She didn't know why she was still out and about. It was nearly midnight. She just needed some fresh air and that was what she got. She could see the fog of her breath as she exhaled. In some way it calmed her just to stop and watch the steam come and disappear.
Though she didn't know what time would play out. How tonight would go and what tomorrow would bring. She just wanted to live for the moment these days instead of worrying of every little thing. She pondered at the thought before looking to the velvet sky that was adorned of diamond like stars. She hummed lightly to herself as she normally did...sometimes without realizing it sometimes intentionally. But she just wanted to hear something rather than the sounds of nature in itself.

It was a beautiful night, and Vytali made his way quietly through a patch of trees, enjoying the changing temperatures. There was little he was worried about encountering, so he walked confidently, hooves thudding solidly in the crunchy, falling leaves, a clear indicator of his passage--the easygoing arrogance of youth.
As he broke free of the sparse grouping of trees, a soft humming reached his sensitive ears, prompting him to stop, listening for a moment in curiosity. Making his way a bit closer to the female doing the humming, he stopped, still a fair distance away, before speaking. "Do you always hum when you're alone?" Faint amusement colored the words, although he said nothing more, looking to her expectantly, as if he had no doubts that she would answer him, despite the fact that he'd probably come across as cooly mocking.

Soon she heard something unfamiliar, someone moving closer to her until it felt like it was breathing down her neck in this cool breeze. As she stopped and her ears flaired back she turned to realize he wasn't as close as she thought he was.
Her brow raised to him, "Perhaps, but I am no longer alone." Those wings, they looked familiar...it took her a moment to realize they were similar to one whom lived with her. A half kalona, so she could positivly assume and be correct that he to was half kalona. He was unque looking that was sure, but none the less handsome which made her own insecurities to her head.

Vytali snorted, giving his head a small shake and shifting a bit closer. "True enough, that." The words still came out vaguely amused, as if that were a permanent state, for him. "It just wasn't a sound I expected to come across in my wanderings, particularly not this late in the evening."
He stretched his wings out, allowing them to catch in the brisk breeze, enjoying the feeling for a moment before folding them back in to rest at his sides. He was an easygoing sort, but that didn't mean he was completely oblivious to body language (he usually simply ignored it)-he could tell the mare was uneasy, and while that observation made him want to smile, it wouldn't do to make her so skittish that she took off...at least, not yet.

She watched him edge closer, unmoving. She didn't trust him..."I'm sorry I didn't know it was illegal for me to sing after a certain time." she replied with a sarcasm within her tones. She watched him with intense eyes, that of her brother and father. Her tail flickered to put her at ease. A nervous habit that seemed to calm her.
She let her eyes linger over him watching his own body movements, "Who are you?" she wasn't going to chit chat with someone who wouldn't be honest or go around the truth and void who they were. Names could be the turn around for trust she found. It was simply how it all played out in the end.

Vytali laughed aloud. "Vytali. And I never said it was in any way unpleasant, or otherwise breaking any rules--simply that it wasn't a sound I expected to hear."
This one, with her easily agitated temper, was entertaining, to say the least. It was, perhaps, a testament to his half-kalona heritage that he got such a kick out of the response--he wasn't necessarily mean, but he definitely gained no small amount of amusement by getting under other soquili's skin.

She blinked and shrugged, "Well now you have," he was odd. It was as if he heard her sound it was apocolypse coming. She had no problem with kalonas or half kalonas if they could act semi-decent which would be unexpected but there were rarities.
"I'm Isis." she replied as an etiquitte for him saying his own. She let her tail flicker behind her. There were no longer any pesky flies around they had fled for the icy cold winter to come. Yet she kept the habit going.

Vytali just grinned, shaking his head. "Indeed." He refrained from laughing outright, again--barely.
"Well, Isis...are you always this testy when someone asks a question, or is that your way of flirting?" He was feeling particularly feisty today-not that the pushing of others' buttons was anything out of the ordinary for him...especially when his desired target responded so beautifully.

Her eyes narrowed, "I didn't know I was being, as you say testy." she retorted. "And I don't flirt," she huffed with a flick of her tail. Her brow raised as she saw that he was getting thrills from this antagonizing. She wondered whatever would he do if she just played along with him...
...there was a thought.
