With all the appearences of Goth Lolita fashion in the last couple of weeks, do you really think that lolita fashion is doomed or do you think everyhting is going to work out and lolita will never see the light of day?

Well, personally, I don't see why Lolita becoming more popular is such a bad thing. Also, how can you be so sure that just because it's becoming more known, it is doomed? I think that even if the style is much more popular, as long as there are some people dedicated to the so-called "Real Lolita" lifestyle, it'll live on. Just because not everyone that wears the clothing is that dedicated, it doesn't mean the whole thing's going to become corrupt and then implode suddenly.

i think its definately going down the same road as goth and punk. before you know it, its going to be warped even worse and incorporated in mallcore fashion.

Tsch, I doubt it'll happen.
People only follow trends when bands or celebrities dress a certain way.

Like when Good Charlotte came out, they were all "OMG WE R PUNK" then everyone followed them.

I doubt any celebrity will go out and say they're a lolita. Plus, parents are going to go against it since they'll think it has to do with *****. Yes, there is Gwen Stefani saying she loves Harajuku girls or whatever, but those girls look AWFUL and wear headresses diagonally across their head. And I've yet to see anyone so far do that or call themself a Harajuku girl.

And yes, there is the boho look. It's kind of modest looking, but gosh, it's TOTALLY HIPPIE. I see people on the EGL livejournal community going "Oh yeah gothic lolita is going to be popular soon 'cause it's like boho." No it's not. confused

So yes, I'm not worried. And just because the fashion is becoming more known does not mean it is "doomed"!

Eep. I knew a girl who called herself a Harajuku girl. She was all "I love lolita and when I listened to Gwen's CD I found out that Lolitas also call themseles Harakuku girls." And I had to explain to here what lolita was and that Harajuku was a place in Tokyo where people cosplayed on the weekends. Not just lolita, but ALL forms of cosplay take place in Harajuku.

Haha. People in Japan having been saying it's just a fad since the Lolita fashion started. Every style goes down after a while. People always laugh at old styles but follow religiously by the new. At some time it's going to get old but not forgotten.
Gwen doesn't seem to know the first thing about Harajuku.
As long as I know what it is, respect it, and carry on, I'm all good.

I don't think its going to get too popular. Most of the people I know either say its stupid, or say "Its cute, but I would never wear it." Lolita is for a select group of people with the right mind, the right sense of style, and who are more than a little creative.
Its also not for tomboys, and you would be surprised how many there are in Canada. @-@ I would know, I used to be one. (But a lot of tomboys don't have feminine bodies, whereas I've had breasts since first grade. Its only natural I drifted over to a girl fashion, ne?)

Its not 'doomed', just being recognized as a legitimate fashion. Its not going to become the new poser-look, because most posers think it looks dumb. And posers dress to match, meaning the guys would have to wear Lolita too. And... Its not what most people would want to see a guy wearing in public, or in private, since its dresses and skirts and blouses, and society generally frowns upon cross-dressers. Even with our current 'sexual revolution', its still not going to become something people do just to piss off their parents, and you're not going to see a North American male star starting to wear Lolita dresses (not a female one, to the best of my knowledge) and pull it off nicely enough to popularize it wide-spread. I'm sorry, there aren't enough feminine males in Hollywood. (And Clay Aiken can't popularize an entire fashion all on his own, trust me.)
I mean, its not like the Backstreet Boys are going to start wearing AmaLoli Dresses or Zombie Lolita skirts, and so on. (Besides, if Lolita were going to get popular, it would have to be someone big like Christina Agulera, Britteny Spears, Hillary Duff, Kelly Clarkson, or Lindsay Lohan who popularize it, and truthfully, I would only want to see Hillary and Kelly in the clothing anyways. And I doubt either of them would wear it - mind you, I would love to have a day with Hillary Duff to tell her how much I hate her music and her image, and totally remake her. XD)
And I highly doubt todays male society would get into Kodona, being that most guys are more interested in tits than they are their clothing. So I don't think we have much to worry about.

I'd love to see a boy at the mall dressed in Kodona. That would be kinda cool...

Winter Black, that was beautiful. And it makes alot of sense.

Though as for some of the 'preps' I know, I think they would like it, but that's just the preppy girls in my class. They seemed to really like the Loli stuff I wore. But when I explained that guys wore it too, they and all the guys seemed a bit... gonk / xp -ish

I would force him to sit and have some tea at the cafe' and tell me about his outfit and how he got to know the lolita fashion... Or mabye just attack him. Yah, one of those two.

Winter Black, thank you for giving me a good reason to go against what I was going to say.

Well, what I was going to say is that it would be doomed because of the posers. But again, not too many people would wear a big puffy skirt. Everyone is too in love with their jeans!! So good, Lolita will stay with us.

Mask of Master and Risa, I'm glad my post made sense. And I'm glad it instilled some faith into our wonderful fashions future. <3 I was talking from my heart, and I'm glad I was right, in some respects. I know for a fact that most people in small towns would deffinately not get into the fashion. Too close-minded, generally. I would know, I'm in one (though I was born in the infinitly larger city of Toronto, thank GOD), and its just the mentality.
As for bigger cities, you're bound to find at least two other Lolita's, but they will more than likely know more about the fashion than "its cute", or will be in the process of learning more.
Most preps are just too stupid to fully appreciate or understand the Lolita fashion.
