Why is there denominations? And why are they so big? For example(based on past) I ask someone if they're christian, and they say, "No, I'm Catholic." and I get mad, "You're christian." and the typical response," No, I'm catholic." So, yeah, back to the point. Do you think denominations are healthy(from an overall view) for the faith.
My own opinion: No. They create division, and then poeple don't know what exactly is true, or they think something else is different. But we all share one thing; Jesus is our lord, and Savior and he died on the croos to forgive us our sins. So, why must we be so divided? Together we can influence so many more, and I think Jesus, and God might be more happy with us. And you may never know what may happen.
Okay debate, please?

First of all, if you ask me my religion, I will NOT tell you Christian. I am a Messianic Jew, or a Messianic. I think it's the way to go, and so did all believers until Constantine... That idiot, I detest him.... So then Messianics dissapeared, and Catholisism was the thing. It compleatly broke off from the Tanakh, if not dropping the actual text, but you know what I mean. The evil and hateful actions of the Catholic Church estranged the Jewish people from Yeshua even further. The Eastern Orthadox Church did the same. This continued till the reformation, begining with Luther. At this point, the Tanakh almost WAS dropped from the Bible. Now, completly without Jewish roots, the Church has almost no linking traditions or laws, thought those that there are are from the Tanakh. So now church practices are pretty much open to opinion, hence, different opinions, different denomonations. A lot of schisms and fights in church history, as well as modern ones, happened because they were taken out of their Jewish context. If you read the passages in the Brit Haddasha concerning the Torah, it says that, while following the Mitzvot(Commandments) is no longer REQUIRED, it is pleasing to G-d, and a good way to live. I also disslike being called Christian' because it was origionally an insult, which the Church later adopted to be a fair word for a follower of Messiah. So before that word was used, wat did they call themselves? Awnser - followers of Messiah. Hence, Messianic.
Some other denomonations have some pretty strange ideas though... like how the Baptists think the wine Yeshua drunk was grape juice... I mean, gimmie a break.
EDIT: From an 'overall view,' I think denomonations are foolish. The Bible tells us how to do it, and us Messianics follow it. We should all just be Messianic, simple as that. I know that sounds stuck up, but it's my opinion, and I can back it up.

Haha...Constantine and his dream...
Anyway, I think it's human nature for humans to divide. It'd be virtually impossible to keep such a large group as Christianity to fit into one doctrine.

True, but it's not completely impossible. It is all stated in the bible, the main problem I see is that Jesus loved to use metaphors, and figurative language. I don't think that they used Grape juice, but they didn't have alcohol in the wine either, at least I think so(okay. The opinion thing I see) Back to topic: A messianic Jew? That's something I heard for the first time. and I meant by Christian, a general term for all believers. And it used to be an insult, and so was Yankee, and now it;s a baseball team that WAS on the way to the World series(Tell they met the Indians) I really need to stay on topic: And you lost me with some of them words. They ones I don't think are English.

That's not what I really meant. People might disagree, but it's in the bible. So, it doesn't matter what we think. It's been laid out. All we have to do is figure out exactly what he wants us to do, and then stick to it. A matter of opinions doesn't really matter, only the facts.

They think that the Bible is up to their interpretation.

Like how I interprate that we should follow the law, but some others would use passages to say that following the law is being ungrtateful(yes, someone did that to me...) It's all in how you look at it... Unless you speak the language, and know the culture. But most people don't. I don't even speak Greek.

Yeah. I was trying to learn Greek, but I can't handle taking Latin in school, Hebrew at home, and having everyone speak Spanglish... so I stopped.

As my friends Dad puts it, Yiddish is the b*****d lovechild of Hebrew, German, Polish, and Russian. Expressions like 'oy vai' from Yiddish have infultrated english... but no one knows what it is.
