Ever since the skill capes came out everyone rush to get a 99 in anything. Even in the most useless of skills. Just for the sake of having a skill cape. I'm not saying skill capes are bad or anything. But they're not nice enough for someone to go out of they're way so they can have some extra clothes and a nice emote. This is still a game. an RPG thats about more then just what you wear. Its not a fashion show.

Some skills have they're advantages of having 99 or having it really high (useful 99's). Some people get just to get (Useless 99's) . Most Quest treads now are about getting a 99 in something.

Useful 99's:

1. Agility (Perform Special courses like agility arena with less failure)
2. Fishing (Catch higher leveled fish easier)
3. All combat skills (Including prayer)
4. RuneCrafting (To be able to runecraft more runes at once)
5. Cooking (Cook things with less chance of burning it)
6. Hunter (Prey seems to be drawn to you easier, at least in my experiance)
7. Thieving (Pickpocket with less chance of getting caught)
8. Mining (Mine quicker)
9. Woodcutting (Cut wood quicker)
10. Smithing (Have to if you want to make everything)

So yes, theres a lot of useful 99's to get (13 out of 19 skills)

Useless 99's:

1. Fletching
2. Construction
3. Herblore
4. Slayer
5. Crafting
6. Firemaking

These are useless, why? Because in all of them once you get a certain level you can do anything or make everything that there is in that skill. Now you might say: "Hey, i reached 90 in fletching. I might as well take it all the way." right, even though the total exp needed to even reach (roughly) level 94 is halfway of what you need to reach 99? Waste of ******** time. Keep doing fletching if you need it. Need some arrows to train range? Fletch'em. Thats why the skill is there in the first place.

The skill that takes the most *idk a nice way to put it* minds. Is of course the one that most runescape members seem to go for..... Firemaking. Chop or buy wood, what are your options? *If you buy the wood* "Hmm, make a few bows with this, maybe high alch them. Or make arrows shafts for later use." *If you chopped them* -Same as last one but also there is- "Hmm, i could sell these to people who would want to use them to fletch into bows and such and make money. Yeah... money is good." *If you did either one* "Hmm, i have those options. But hey i have an idea. Lets burn'em. Yeah, FLAME ON! It won't get me anywhere in this game but hey, fire is cool =D"
Burn down your house, it might not be cool. But i'm sure as hell that it'll be funny. For me anyway. if you *nice word* enough then you might actually enjoy it. Burn your money right away. Its basically grabbing money out of your bank *if you bought the wood* and dropping it. And if you chopped the wood yourself then its such a waste of time that its like standing around and doing nothing. Imagine runescape as a single player game. Will you get closer to beating it by standing still?

When you reach level 65 with firemaking. Your done. Thats it. There is absolutely no need to keep going with it in this game. I guess only a *nice word* can understand that its useful or that its "fun" since they're *nice word* brains are *nice word* enough for it.

You can a good point but you forget that some people like the 'useless' skills. Like me. I love fire making because I love fire. I love anything to do with it, fire, heat, ect. To me its fun. It may be useless but it brings me joy. This game isnt a fashion show but it is a place for people to enjoy themselves and have fun.

......wow, thats amazing. Fire is good. People can cook meat on it and stuff they're little fat a** faces, sure. Maybe if you set your house on fire you'll find that amazing too, coco. But a house on fire in real life is so much more awesome then campfire like pixels on runescape. Now, if we can set entire houses on fire in runescape and with better chances of arsoning your friends POH's with a higher level, then it would be worth it. That is to say that Jagex would make an update that allows you to set your friends houses and/or your own houses on fire. I'm sure you'll use a lot of money to get cons to 99 too and then set that ******** on fire. Then use a lot of money again to get you 99 furniture again and FLAME ON! I will be willing to bet that some people would keep playing runescape simply for that. And will continue doing that until hey run out of gp and then go raise more by selling everything they have and doing it all over again.

I'm glad to see you class Hunter as a worthwhile skill. I remember once, at about level 63 Hunter, my friend asked me what I was doing. I replied and he said "Why? Hunting is pretty much a go-nowhere skill" I just told him I liked the skill and stopped talking...

Not long after that I found out that I could get 30m+ from getting 99 Hunting. rofl at him.

Actually rissa, I'm not so sure. It was more of a guess. You have to tell me, since your the huntress extraordinare. Does the hunter skill become easier with higher levels?

Last I heard you just mindlessly did "stuff" for hours. This game doesn't benefit you in the real world, so that would make the whole game pointless. All your doing is sitting at your computer, typing and clicking for hours on end. I don't think your body cares what the ******** your doing on the game, all it's thinking is I need some damn excersise.

I'm sure fighting dragons, runecrafting, and all these other things would be cool to do in rl too? Maybe even "funny as hell to me". (Just incase your too *nice word* to understand what i meant by that is that it is a game, don't compare lighting wood on fire in a game to burning your shelter down in real life.)

If I want a firemaking skill cape, it's none of your ******** business. I like the way the cape looks and it also says that I've endured some boring a** s**t. If you have a problem with it, I feel bad that you get so caught up in other people's business, that you get worked up enough to even wright something like this.

Useless or not, the capes are about achieving 99 in that skill.

Yes, that's correct. Higher your level, the more chance you have of success.

Something you forgot, you need about 95 fletching to make Dragon Darts, which sell a good amount above that is useless though. Same thing for FireMaking at level 95 you can burn the last kind of those ships, which give you a chance of getting a dragon full helm. But above that is useless. Though Cooking shouldn't be in the useful pile either since around level 95 with cooking gauntlets you won't burn anything. Agility shouldn't be there either it only makes you gain energy a few seconds quicker and I seriously doubt you need 99 to not miss anything.

Construction however, that skill is the only one that I know of that you can actually do something at 99, so yeah not as useless when there's a use for the 99. xp
