Alas slunk into Crunch's territory witha slight feeling of guilt, normally she made plenty of noise to announce that she was incoming, but today she wanted only to find the alpha. She had enjoyed time with her friend Gracia but now she sought a different type of company. There had been no progress in driving away the lynx, nor in saving the abused wolf, or in aiding her own alpha. Today she wanted to be of use, she wanted to find Crunch and make him laugh, to revel in the ability to bring joy to another who needed it. She needed it too, needed to feel as if she could succeed at anything.
One white glove colored paw after another she slid into Crunch's homelands. She knew that four moons had not passed, but she sought no fight only company. For a moment she stopped in her tracks uncertain and suddenly feeling as foolish as the first time she had tried to playfully pounce the male, perhaps Crunch wanted no company, least of all hers. She gave a soft sigh and looked around as if for some sign that would tell her what to do.

The mass of blue, white and red fur laid in the middle of the training clearing that had been used for Alas's first lesson. The blue tail wrapped itself around one side and the red lightning eyelids slid back to uncover deep dark blue pools. The male had been having inner turmoil lately and didn't want to show weakness to any of his family, after all he was suppose to be their lead protector.
Besides that little factor, the blue head lifted off of the cracked looking white socked front paws, his mind was actually twisted in the contemplation of apologizing for his bitter attitude towards the only ally his pack seemed to have at the moment. Looking around the male spotted the wood chips from about fifteen different sticks.
Not wanting to kill something for his frustrations and the uncertainty he suddenly was feeling, Crunch stood up. Maybe he would go find Snickers and see how his brother would feel about some company on the hunt for the first meal in about two days. Making it halfway to the trees leading into the main part of the pack, a white paw halted in mid-air and a blue ear twitched.
Did he just hear something. Turning around to look back over his shoulder, Crunch examined the trees and his nose became alive with activity. Someone was coming, but he couldn't get a pin on the scent right off the wind changed on him at the last minute. Crouching down the male disappeared instead off towards the boarder to find out who was coming into his land.

Alas sat down quietly her tail lifting to keep from brushing the earth as she contemplated what to do. She thought perhaps she should simply seek out Gracia once more and content herself in their strengthening friendship. With a sigh she dismissed the idea, she couldn't always rely on Gracia to fix her soured moods.
She looked around at a loss before deciding to simply rest for a while in the area, she felt a bit safer in Crunch's land then in her own pack lands for the moment. With that she stood to seek out a nook in which she could remain for a while.

Crunch came to the place where he sudden caught on to Libenalas's scent trail. His head popped up and the male sniffed in all directions figuring out in which the female had gone. Not but a couple seconds later was the male on the move following the very fresh scent.
Alas looked as if she was looking around for something, "Alas, what are you doing here?" his voice wasn't dark and cold as normal, just simply inquisitive. Ancestors, help me out here. I'm not suppose to be like this, I'm mean! the male's thought raced as if he was looking at himself from a different light and it wasn't a good one.

Alas turned startled and moved to head back to Crunch's voice, she didn't have to go very far. She flushed and lowered her head respectfully her body lowering and her tail slowly curling beneath her.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you...I was just going to find a place to relax a little while..." that sounded silly even to her, after all why rest in his packlands when she had a pack of her own?
Alas would never feel safe resting in a den knowing that Algoma could be nearby, watching, waiting. She had seen that poor tourtured wolf down by the beach hadn't she? She slowly looked back up at Crunch her tail giving a hopeful wag.
"I'm glad to see you again though...I hope your well?" She remembered Gracia's comment on Crunch's state of mind of late.

His head tilted a bit at her words and a mental grimace went into the alpha's head, though his face held a bit of a cold expression. "You didn't disturb me," was the alpha's reply as he stepped closer towards the pink and white female, not actually meaning to tower over her but doing it nonetheless.
But when the blue, white and red male spoke again his tone was in another context, though seething with protectiveness in every word. "Is that feline giving you problems again? Or just needing to rest the weary mind?" The second part he could sympathize with, but his pride wasn't letting him think of himself at this moment.
Crunch lowered his head a bit after realizing where his shadow was being casted and even stepped back a pace. His blue eyes then turned to look into Alas' at her question and statement.
"Yes, good to see you unscathed, but I don't think all the moons had passed since our last meeting." Not that he really cared, but there was a preface that he had to keep up. "And I'm...." he paused for a second, "fine, though I did want to at least apologize for my rude behavior in the midst of your lessons."

Alas tried to remain calm as Crunch moved over her it wasn't difficult, somehow she felt much safer in his shadow. She would feel safe anywhere away from those she had to speculate on all the time for loyalty or treachery. She gazed up at eyes darker then her own and smiled weakly.
"I'm afraid I just slipped in to rest a bit...the packs numbers are growing and...I havent been able to sleep well without...concern." She hesitated at the last word feeling a bit traitorous for saying such a thing, but wouldn't Twist welcome an ally?
Crunch had been willing to teach her how to defend herself, any alpha especially one as young and inexperienced as Twist would appricate his favor. Alas knew how much she had appreciated it now she felt she might stand a chance to stay alive if anyone came at her. No longer was the lynx her only concern, new faces meant new suspicions.
"I'm sorry for returning so soon...I came before to visit Gracia...she suggested I might find it easier to rest in your territory..." She looked at him uncertainly realizing she had slipped Gracia's name in, she hoped the blue and white omega wouldn't get into trouble for the offer of hospitality. Luckily she hadn't let it slip that Gracia was concerned over his well being.
She looked up at him a bit surprised at the apology before tilting her head with a soft nod. "Thank you...I suppose it takes a great Alpha to realize that harsh behavior is not always best. I suppose I needed it though, now I know better then to leap at you like that." She smiled

Crunch looked Alas up and down briefly, had this happened a week ago the alpha would have bared his fangs and chased off the pink and white lacy female. But then again it wasn't a week ago and the blue dominate male had a urge to extend his protective shadow over Alas and insure she kept coming back to his pack lands.
The Crunch bar male looked at the smile and had to swallow a replying one back down. He just wasn't ready to actually show that his heart seemed to soar even at the pink femme's weak smile. Though the moment she replied about the numbers of her pack growing it made the large stomach of Crunch roll with unease. More numbers could turn to some threat to his territory if the other alpha decided her own territory wasn't large enough.
Crunch's face became like stone again and he looked over towards his right, towards the direction of Twist's pack, but one ear stayed on Alas as she continued to speak. The mention of Gracia extending an offer that was the responsibility of an Alpha or a beta made the right ear go back in disagreement.
Turning back to look at Alas, Crunch's mind just couldn't hold the anger that should have been there. "Rest here as long as you need, but next time my sister take the job of extending invitations please tell me. I'll support her with you, your the only ally that we have and I'm not going to close my land off to you. Especially since I know your circumstances."
His tail flickered as if to dismiss the complement, but a small twitch of one corner to his maw held back a simply half smile, "Don't think so highly of me. Remember I'm not a perfect alpha and I'll never claim such a title. Though I hope that one day I'll allow friends and family to possibly get near my blind spots without going instinctual." Now a soft smile spread across his maw and his tail gave one friendly wag. Why did he feel that his words would never make it past just the two of them?

Alas watched as Crunch's attention wavered in the direction of her packlands, no doubt he took in their growing numbers as a threat. She didn't exactly disagree, but with the manipulations and uncertainty within the pack itself she doubted his own would be troubled. She smiled as he kept in place the offer Gracia had extended, but had to speak for her friend.
"Please don't be mad at her...Gracia is just so helpful." she looked at Crunch uncertainly there was no way to ensure that he wouldn't punish Gracia and she wished she hadn't slipped her name.
"I'm glad you see me as an ally, if I could ever do anything to help you or your family..." She doubted the male would ever need anyones help, let alone hers. The very thought of her being able to aid him was laughable, she was soft pink healer and he was a powerful dark blue alpha. She would help though if anyone in his pack ever needed any of her skills.
"Perhaps not perfect...but no one is after all, and your still a good alpha." She gave a soft sad smile. "You care for your family so well..." Alas wished she had family of her own, but with a friend like Gracia she was grateful, she had always thought her pack would be her family, but everyone was so distant and estranged.
As his tail wagged her hope lifted, maybe Crunch didn't mind her company after all. She smiled brightly once more and edged a bit closer. "I would be honored if you ever trusted me enough...but maybe it's something that can't be overcome..."

The blue eyes looked into brighter pools, the worry that seemed to come from Alas over his sister made the male tilt his head a bit. "I wasn't going to punish her for extending an offer that I agree to. If I bring it up at all, I'll just give her a silent warning so Twix doesn't see to giving her more grief on my behalf." He cherished all of his siblings and that included Snickers, but they all could be a bit over the top to please another, or get self gratification.
"I'll remember your offer as I feel that when others start to join, it may become more....complicated." The last word was chosen carefully. Having grown up with his siblings he knew how they worked, but when strangers started to join it would bring different contexts up.
Listening to the complement again about his skill or judgments passed as the leader of his pack, Crunch just gave an awkward smile. He knew nothing he was going to say would change Alas' mind and maybe having someone else believe that would give him more tolerance for Snickers disobedience. "Thank you, Alas."
His ears moved towards the sides and then forward again, "Alas, you are counted among the friends and family category. I'm sure if I could ever over come my sensitivity I could trust you to watch my back." The blue alpha stated and then gave a bit of a smile, one that his family would never see willingly, "Though that would be if I would let you assist me in a fight."

Alas relaxed as Crunch said he wouldn't punish Gracia, she didn't like the idea of getting her friend into any kind of trouble. She edged just a bit closer to the larger male hoping he would tolerate her company a while longer so she could coax a smile from him.
"Complicated? Your worried about those who arent your family?" She understood now that worry, where as before she would have welcomed any company now she was a bit more wary. She hoped Crunch didn't have troubles in that area.
"It's only true Crunch...perhaps you'll feel more at ease with time, in a new place you've finally claimed for your own you must feel a bit overwhelemed?" She edged a bit closer and lightly brushed her tail with his.
She laughed at his next words "Goodness no, I should probably stand on the sidelines of any fight you may have and be ready to patch you up if anyone hurt you. I don't know if I could bear to watch your getting hurt though..." She finally relaxed slowly against him in the usual way she sat pressed close to Gracia sharing their thoughts and gentle nuzzles. Not that she expected an alpha like crunch to spill his guts and snuggle with her, but if he could tolerate her it would be nice.

Seeing a bit of the tension evaporate off of Alas, Crunch furrowed his brows together, had Alas been stressed out for Gracia's well being? But his thoughts were banished when he saw Alas step closer to him. Crunch shrugged off first thought to move either around the female or to step to the side a bit.
But once questioned about his word use, Crunch simply gave Alas a look that said. 'You really expect me to answer that, when you just answered the question yourself?' Though his voice came out to give the reply, "My family is my first concern. Opening my lands up for others that have no home is a second, but I'm going to give a trail run to new members that wish to stay in the pack's territory and den."
"Maybe or maybe not. We'll just have to see if you diagnosis is correct Alas." The male said this before Alas moved closer towards him. He felt like his space was suppose to be invaded, but why was he not bounding forward? Truly he didn't feel the invasion of space, but he did stiffen a tad.
Turning his head to look, or slightly glare in question, at Alas. Though one of his red lightning brows arched up, "If you even insisted on being at the ring side, you would probably see me still moving even after logical defeat if the attacker moved towards anyone that I care about." This was maybe the thickest statement he had made so far. Though Alas had relaxed against his side, Crunch moved slightly forward and turned around to sit down facing the light pink female. His tail wrapping around his paws, but his ears moved to keep sentry.

Alas backed up a bit as Crunch moved away, perhaps that was a bit too close for the males comfort. She held back a sigh as the slight smile was replaced with the sidelong glare. She had ruined her own progress she thought unhappily.
"Its good of you to welcome those who are alone...no one should be without family." She added softly.
"Oh I don't doubt you could ever fail to protect your family or anyone you have your care too, but that dosn't mean you wouldn't be injured." She shrugged softly "I'm always willing to give my skills where their needed..." She watched Crunch and tried to remain cheerful, but it was hard knowing she had made that slight smile disappear so quickly.

Scratching behind his ear momentarily, he wanted to get that awkward feeling moved out of his system. The fact that Alas had been so close to him wasn't the real issue, ok maybe part of it, but it was the weird warm tingle that spread under his fur at her touch.
Once his foot was back to the ground, Crunch concurred Alas' statement. "And that is what I hope to offer others, if they can just beware my crunchy exterior." The alpha was trying the pun of his name with the use of it being a good way to soften the bitter edges and aggression that he always portrayed, or at least he thought so.
Though when Alas moved towards the second phrase, the massive blue head shook from side to side, "I know very well that I could fall protecting those that I want to protect. I've seen my father fail at protecting my mother, and I almost failed protecting my sisters and brother. That is why I bare the marking of fangs from another male on my back."

Alas watched Crunch moved intrigued by the way that such a muscular frame could hold power and grace so well, so hidden. He looked so carefree one moment and the next he was solid and aggresive again. She felt a strange pang of confusion that his moods should matter to her at all.
She smirked and a soft laugh escaped her throat at the play on words. "You mean to tell me beneath that crunchy exterior theres a soft gooey inside?" She slunk closer with a playful crouch her tail waving to and fro.
She fell back a bit when he mentioned being attacked by another, no wonder he was so sensitive about his back. "Yet you haven't failed to protect them."
