Jenette strolled into the Pokemon Center, just to pick up her vulpix. The poor thing had gotten drowned a dozen times against that seel. At least she wouldn't have to give Venna a bath for a while...
Walking up to the counter Nurse Joy told her it would be a few more minutes... Nodding reluctantly Jenette made herself comfortable in one of the cozy chairs.
Within ten minutes Venna came zooming out of Nurse Joy's arms, heading for Jenette... and her treats!!

Just outside the Pokemon Center Razalin was lazing under a tree. There was rarely any time for reading any more. Reading about things that concerned her job was no exception. Oh, the Pokemon Health Journal articles she'd missed in her busy schedule!
It was time to play catch up now.
Sir Van'Tess, the Tess family Ninetales for many generations, was not fond of this idea. Razalin was more stubborn than he, and after a while, he'd eventually given up on getting her to go anywhere until she was ready and instead begun prowling around aimlessly.
Occasionally, he would scurry inside the center and make pitiful eyes until Joy or whatever person he managed to find gave him food. Upon entering this time, he spotted Jenette first.
"Nine!"

Venna was already nibbling on one of the delicious treats Jenette had stashed away and was busy with that, totally ignoring the Nintales that had wandered in.
"Why hello!" She said as the beautiful kitsune pokemon came waltzing in. "So that's what Venna will look like..." she thought. "Why are you all alone?" She asked as she slowly reached out her hand to him, offering one of the treats Venna already had come to love.

Van returned her greeting with a peppy, "Nine!" Did she have food? ..Yes! He nearly jumped for joy when the treat was offered to him, gobbling it up. He wrinkled his nose back a bit. It was much different from the food he was used to back at the estate. Razalin didn't spoil him enough!
Still, it was important to be thankful. He brushed against the trainer's legs like a pet cat would. The Vulpix had not gone unnoticed. He decided now was the time to address her.
Normally, he'd already be throwing cheesy pick-up lines and flirty winks her way. But Vulpix were different. They were special. "Nine, nine.) "(Hello, nice trainer you have.)

Venna had finished and was sitting off to the side a little, watching this Ninetales take Jenette's attention. Normally she was number one... A whimper almost escaped her, but when he adressed her she seemed to glare a little. "Yes, and I happen to like her a lot." She would be a ninetales soon enough... she hoped.
Jenette heard Venna off tot he side and smiled, going over to her she scooped her up. "Venna, be nice." She wondered how someone would let this pokemon wander around by it's lonesome. "Ninetales... this is Venna, my vulpix, and my pride and joy." She said with a proud smile.

Van's head rocked to the left. What was she being so hostile about? All he'd really done was say hello and compliment her. Females were getting so frisky these days!
A mental lightbulb flickered on. Politely, he nodded to Jentte. His attention was quickly back on the other Pokemon, all of his tails whipping against the ground at once. "Nine ninetales," he assured her. "Niiine. Ninetales nine." (You don't have to worry. I'm not looking for a trainer. My human is outside reading.)

Feeling a little for at ease about this new fact she softened a little. "Vulpix Vul Vul!" (Sorry... I just know that she has always wanted a ninetales...) Venna's tails slumped a little for she was only a vulpix... at least for now.
"Hey! Has anyone lost this pokemon! It's a gorgeous Ninetales..." She said as she scratched Van under the chin.

Van snorted. Not in a condesending way, but one of amusement. Wanted a Nintetales? Even so, that seemed a little bit like jumping the gun. Besides, wild Pokemon didn't just stroll into the Center now did they?
"Niiine!" he pawed at the trainer, trying to get her attention. Once he had succeeded, he walked to the center door and nodded outside toward Razalin. Given she was outdoors and focused on reading, she hadn't heard the question. (Or, she had, and was ignoring it.)
That solved, he returned to the Vulpix. "Ninetales nine. Niine nine ninetales." (You shouldn't worry so much. If she's a trainer she'll get other Pokemon anyway.)

Jenette wondered what he was doing, the way he was acting. Following him to the center door she saw a trainer outside. Walking outside she went to talk to her, hoping she wouldn't disturb her from her reading.
Venna gave a small sigh and laid on the bench Jenette had been occuping preveiously. "Vulpix Vulll Vul Pix." (I know... I just am not what she wants... but I am her favorite!" She said feeling a little better now. Jumping from the bench she looked up to him. "Pix Vul Vulpix?" (Why are you away from her? Is all you wanted food?" A small smirk played on her face as she circled him.

Razalin didn't notice anyone approaching her until Jenette's shadow was blocking her reading light. Only then did she glance up. What did this girl want? Thoughtfully, she leaned to the side, staring into the center where Van was, and apparently, a Vulpix as well. The healer sighed. "Did he do something to bother you?"
Probably. Stupid Ninetales.
The 'stupid Ninetales' in question watched the unevolved fire type, the fur above his eyes raised. If she was her only Pokemon, wouldn't she have to be the favorite? What kind of logic was that? "Nine ninetales? Nine nine." (What else would I want? I don't have to always be near that lady.)
