Has anyone else ever had ridiculously big or annoying props? We have eighteen huge doors (like 10 feet tall) and we have to assemble and disassemble them for rehearsals and shows, plus we have to load and unload them for shows which sucks this is probably the best image i can find to show how big they are

We have huge Office Desks, but they don't bother me cause I don't get near them, but the brass and colorgaurd get to sit on them lol.

Were you at the Minnesota Youth in Music competition by any chance?
I'm pretty against using too many or large props. I think they often distract from the performance.

haha we saw you guys at 3 competitions and it really looked like it sucked to have those doors, especially when it got windy in irondale... we had a tarp that we placed wrong in st.louis finals and had to fix, and since we had to fix it so fast it got screwed up and was really wavy, luckly no one fell but a lot tripped next year my director wants to have bonsai trees on the field sweatdrop

We have these huge columns, which used to be "trees" from the drama department, that are extremely difficult to carry, especially since I have no upper arm strength at all. The staples left a hole in my glove, and the paint rubs off on our pants.

We don't use any props during our shows because we're not a marching theater. If you guys were a marching band instead of a marching theater, then you wouldn't have to deal with huge props. Or with people like me who despise marching theaters. ninja

Our colorguard used these props that were square traffic sign.. things. They were really awesome. Our band moms made them. Freaking sweet.. About 5 feet length to each side, give or take. One girl had a lightning bolt, we (Okay, it was only me) called it the Harry Potter sign.

The props we had this year weren't really that annoying. In fact, we hardly ever went near them.
The band parents made a big pagoda and a bridge. As well as a giant bell stand to cover the BAP. Two of the drum majors hid behind them while the third one played a flute solo. Sexy.
We had a pirate ship the year before!

we have HUGE black walls one on each outer side of the 35 and three centerd on the 50 for the colorguard to hide bhind at the begining. at one of our performances the got the props wrong and I was going backwards minding my own business when all the sudden BAM i marched right into one of them. I thought I had knocked it onto my b/f who plays the 4th bass and was behind it lol but it didn't fall over yay!

Our band's never had props...
But one band (two years ago?) had a bunch of props. They're a really big group, but every two colorguard people had either a lightpost or a bench and they had a covered wagon and a tarp for a dance floor. Really, though, I think it was distracting. I never really noticed how well the band marched.

I was the band from IL that got 9th, which is actually really good for us in this big of a competition. Was yours the Raven? That was really cool, but my friends thought the "Nevermore!" thing was kinda weird. Personally, I think props are really stupid unless they aren't too bulky and add something vital to understand the show.
