For those of you who don't know what BDSM it stands for Bondage and Discipline, Dominance and Submission, Sadomasochism. All over the world there is a large BDSM community who, anthropologically speaking, fit the definition of a subculture. It is also more than just kinky sex. Alot of it has to do with the Dom (dominant) doling out punishments and rewards as they see fit. A girl I recently spoke with is an active member of the BDSM community as a Sub (submissive), but also claims to be a Christian. I'm wondering what all of you think of being a member of the BDSM community and being Christian. Does it fit just fine; does it clash; something in the middle?

No, it doesn't mesh. I was an emo/goth kid for a long time, and it was continually leading me astray. But, since I still dress in all black most of the time, you could argue that it does, I suppose...

BDMS (did I get that right?) sounds stupid. So dominant people can do whatever they want to the submissive people? Why would people let them do that to them?

Masochism. It means you enjoy pain. I used to be like that, not into BDSM, but masochist. That, along with emothional issues, led to me cutting. It was just leading me further and further away... like I was drowning. Looking back from the other side of it, I am so scared of that now... I'm frightened, literally, of what I used to do to myself. Getting into masochism is bad...

What you've got right now spells out BDDSS... confused
As long as it's between consenting partners, I honestly don't care what they do behind closed doors.

Well, the dominant one is usually the one that actually doesn't really have any power, since the submissive can stop it at any time. Some people just like not being in control.

(BD)SM (Bondage + Disipline) B(DS)M (Dominince + Submission) BD(SM) (Sado/sadist + Masochism) And since the conversation is about whether or not it's ok for a Christian, your comment really has no point. It's not about what you care about, it's how it affects the life of a Christian. Which you ventured no opinion on.

Hm...Well, is there anywhere in the Bible that says,"Thou shalt not tie thy sexual partner(s) up and..."? Actually, the Bible seems to encourage that in several places...

Lethkhar Naw, I was referring to slavery and torture. The Bible advocates both. How? Quote it.
