Sitting at the table in the dining room, Isi hunched his shoulders over a small pile of trinkets and crafts. A spool of string was nearby and Isi was weaving it into a complex shape. It was a regular Thursday morning, with Isi at home and up early in the morning to tend to his various activities and endeavors. Today he was making something, but that something had no form. It was just a sprawled mess of beads, string, rocks, feathers, sticks and silverware. If anyone would have spoken to the crippled boy, they would've heard an uncaring grunt of acknowledgment. The fog welled outside the window behind Isi's back. Not only was it a Thrusday morning, but it was an autumn morning, cold and crisp and with a twilight haze sort of feel. Moisture hung heavy in the air, but there was no threatening black cloud of rain. It was simply overcast and thick and dreary.

Eiry was up to his own tricks again, floating from room to room and acquiring certain things that would help in his new quest for mischief. Isi didn't pay any mind to the raevan, for he was sure that he wasn't up to anything TOO terrible. Unbeknown to the rest of the Delaran home, he was almost done filling up Rivener's bedroom doorway with various books collected from around the house. Where he had gotten the idea, no one would ever know.

Once, Eiry chuckled in a ghastly fashion to himself as he slid another book into the shrinking gap.

Aphismet descended the stairs with a light step, dressed in his usual workout clothes; loose pants and a black tank top. It was the fall, and the fog outside showed it. Autumn and Spring in particular brought out the fog from the nearby marsh, making the Delaran's secluded homestead extra-creepy. Aphismet wondered when exactly he'd gotten used to it: hardly anything scared him here, with the exception of Edgar, of course.

"Good morning, Eiry," he offered the green Frei as he spotted him near Riv's door. Aph continued his way downstairs without pausing to check what the Raevan was doing. He might have had a few questions if he'd spotted the Scorpion's doorway.

"Good morning, Isi," the elder said as he entered the kitchen, spotting his brother in the dining room. "What are you doing?"

Isi hardly moved his head up to glance at his brother as he entered the downstairs area dressed for training. There was a part of Isi that was jealous of Aphi being able to get out and exercise with a community of people who held similar interests. He wanted to be able to do that too, hop down the stairwell without crutches in snug loose-fitting sweats and go out to enjoy the weather at a tranquil jog. He had a quick momentary day dream of himself strolling out onto the deck, taking a deep breath of the foggy morning air before turning his head over his shoulder to Aphi, beckoning him forward, and starting on a planned jog around the land. They would jog down the length of the border fences, to the split willow tree, and then to up along the string, into the field, and then to the backyard where they would debate whether to make another round or stop in the house. This fleeting dream only caused the pang of jealousy to clutch deeper in Isi's gut. Isi could still attempt to admire the weather, but hobbling wasn't nearly the same thing as jogging with a friend.

Quite used to this chronic feeling of longing, Isi dismissed the jealousy and carefully put away the weaving string that he had done. Now he had to get the frame ready, so he began bending sticks into shape and tying them tightly together with bits of twine and hot glue and strips of leather.

When Aphi had questioned him, Isi had taken several moments to grumble a off-handed reply, "Making something to help me sleep."

As soon as he had heard the footsteps jogging down the stairs, Eiry gave a worried gulp and he snapped his hands away from Rivener's 5/6 filled doorway and folded them casually behind his back. Aphi passed by without a second glance and greeted him hello and Eiry gave an innocent echo of his morning greeting. As soon as Aphi's head bobbed down the last flight of steps, Eiry breathed in relief, "That was a close one".

With the sense of danger peaking his sense of excitement, Eiry turned back to filling the hole. He was almost done!

Aph grabbed his usual glass of juice, walking over to his brother to peek over the younger one's shoulder. "A dreamcatcher, hunh? Looks nice so far." He couldn't help but sigh in dissapointment. He'd offered Isi to sleep in his room for a while, but that hadn't seemed to help enough. Isi was still constantly exhausted, and now resorted to dream-catchers.

"Oh hey," Aph said, snapping his fingers as he remembered something vague from a while back. "I think I remember that one of the Raevans is made from a Baku. Isn't that a nightmare eater thing? Maybe you should pay that Raevan a visit, and see if he or she can help?" Aph had just read it or heard about it, he'd never seen that particular Raevan. He could even be wrong. But it was something to hope for!

"Well, I have to go for my run. Ebony should be here soon, if she shows up before I'm back, will you please show her in?" He ruffled Isi's already bed-tousled hair, and finished his juice, turning to leave.

Rivener yawned and stretched languidly. Roux was missing again, probably out on an early morning walk or something. The Roc often went out on his own, presumably to think. Rivener wasn't worried, Roux was very much able to take care of himself.

The Scorpion walked to his door and opened it.

He blinked. Bricks? ...No, upon closer inspection, they were books. Completely puzzled, Riv raised a finger to poke at the solid mass of written words. It was quite solid.

Movement caught his attention, and he spotted a corner of light in the upper right doorway, in which a new book just got placed. Riv frowned. "EIRY!" he yelled, shoving at the wall of books, causing it to topple over on one side.

Rivener couldn't even be mad. He only stared at his now-revealed trickster brother, wondering what the hell that was about. He tilted his head and gave Eiry a baffled grimace.

Headlights cut through the veil of fog that enveloped the Delaran home as a lavender colored car made its slow approach. Actually, it wasn't so much slow as it was inching, creeping really. Eyes the same color as the substance they were trying so desperately to look through, Ebony mumbled quietly to herself as she tightly clutched her steering wheel. Silent prayers that she'd not go careening off some sort of edge or hit something or worse, someone. Afterall, she was not the most graceful of drivers, but she figured it would cost her a few less calls and time driving herself out there every week. Obviously she thought wrong, but Ebony was prideful and had something to prove. Thus on she drove at the most careful speed of 5 miles per hour.

A sigh of relief when the fog thinned somewhat and allowed her to finally make out Aphismet's home in the distance. More brave now, Ebony's foot pressed down the gas and reached the house in mere moments. She gave the horn a couple of honks to alert the residences of her arrival before popping the trunk and getting out.

"Mmthanks..."

Isi had definitely heard the sigh of disappointment that came from over his shoulder, and he tensed his shoulders. He didn't mean to not be comforted by sleeping in Aphi's room. In fact, he was quite comfortable and he felt much more at ease when he could hear the slumbering breaths of his brother. Unfortunately, despite Isi's calmness in Aphi's room, he would toss and turn at night and twitch as if someone unexpected had tapped his shoulder. Often times, Isi would mumble and pant in fear and snap awake in time to see the fleeting shadow of the little ghost boy, Fletcher, disappear through the walls.

He wanted so much to sleep and get rid of this terrible reoccurring nightmare. Sometimes, like when Aphi sighed in disappointment, Isi would feel the disappointment directly pointed at him and his incapability to get a decent night's rest. It made him angry because he felt that it wasn't his fault, although, deep within him he knew that it was his problem. And Isi hated to affect his brother's sleep by constantly waking up at night. He feared that Aphi would get tired of it soon and stop caring, like the village in the tale of "the boy who called wolf". That's what scared Isi the most. So it ended up simply making the nightmares continue in a vicious circle.

"If that owner lives somewhere near here then I wouldn't mind taking a visit...Okay, I'll tell her you..." The Aphi stepped through the door frame and there came the honking of a horn. "APHI, SHE'S HERE!"

Eiry's ghastly laughter filled the air as the books came crashing down in a papery rain about his transparent figure. As soon as he heard movement and saw the bulging of the books from within, Eiry had gone transparent so that he could float unaffected by the avalanche of books. He was laughing hard, immensely pleased with the result. Just glancing up from where he held his chest with his thin arms, Eiry caught a glimpse of Rivener's face and he began to laugh harder.

It was perfect! The expression was just what Eiry was hoping for!

Laughing heartily, in his own creepy ghost child way, Eiry was about to say something to his brother when a couple car honks from outside split the air. Eiry's blood red eyes widened and, before he knew it, he had plastered himself all over Rivener, clinging to his person as if the car was nipping at his heels ribbon.

Aph had been about to set off when he heard the car horn, and Isi's call. He shrugged and walked back in. "I guess I'll run after," he said with a grin to his brother.

He jogged to the front door and opened it, stepping onto the porch and waving at Ebony. "Hey there, wasn't too hard to get here in the fog, was it? It does that a lot this time of year." Aph joined his teacher near the car, waiting to see if she needed help bringing anything in, seeing as she had her car trunk open.

Upstairs, Riv's baffled expression had slowly morphed into an angry frown. Why Eiry always felt he had to antagonize him...

A car honk, and suddenly said antagonist was clutching Riv for dear life. The scorpion blinked a few times before grinning maliciously. "Ya wanna pick on me, do you?" He reached down with both arms and head-locked his brother, playfully twisting now that he had him in his grasp. If it weren't for the car, he'd never have caught the ghostly Frei. "I'm gonna feed you to the television!" Riv threatened, starting to drag Eiry towards the stairs, presumably to make their way into the living room where the hungry tv set waited.

All that could be seen at the moment were Ebony's grey sweatpants legs, one firmly on the ground as the other flailed a bit in the air to not only give her leverage, but to keep her balance as she dragged something heavy from the trunk. "No, piece of cake really..." She would never admit to her near anxious moments from not so long ago, pretending as none of it had even happened. Besides, no one witnessed it therefore no one would ever be the wiser. And that's how she liked it.

It seemed like forever before that familiar violet head emerged from the trunk with a bag possibly as big as Aphismet. It seemed odd for her to be bringing much of anything now as Ebony had pretty much thrown a whole library and a huge practice mat to boot at the poor guy during her first visit. But here she was with more it seemed as she lugged the bag out of the trunk. Despite all her strong efforts, she'd packed it way too much and when it was finally pulled over the trunk's edge, gravity kicked in and took Ebony down with it. A tiny squeak of surprise unintentionally left her lips in the process while a couple of tomatoes and a potato made their escape from the bag.

Isi harrumphed and tensed his shoulders tighter. He wasn't in the mood for visitors, but who was he to complain? Aphi had all the right to invite his friends over and have activities here. Isi just had to keep himself entertained like he did every other day or do chores. He could be doing his own school work, but he had no heart and no appetite to digest it. Isi sighed heavily and growled as one of the sticks he was using snapped in twain.

Clutching tightly to his brother, Eiry had barely enough time to force out a startled squeak as Aphi rolled him in his arms and caught his neck in a brotherly headlock. The wispy frei gave a weak shout and started to squirm wildly, his wispy foxfire wings flickering in distress.

"BROTHER! Stop! It was just a trick!" the ghostly frei pleaded, using all of his strength to push his arms against his brother. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't break free from Riv's grasp. However, when Rivener mentioned the television, Eiry's struggling increased by ten-fold and he began to shriek hysterically in a way that chilled anyone who heard it. It sounded like practiced screaming that director's would insert into horror movies.

"NOOO!!! AUGHHHH!!!"

Aphismet chuckled in surprise at the tomatoes and potato escapees, but most of all he was chuckling at Ebony's girlish squeak. Surely she wouldn't like him laughing at that, so he covered it up by blaming it on the vegetables. "We got a few rogues here!" he said, leaning down to scoop up the produce. He handed it back to Ebony before helping her tug the rest of the bag free of the trunk.

"So what's all this, then?" he asked, wondering if she'd brought her own groceries this time. Perhaps she had a special request, and wanted to make sure he had all the ingredients to prepare it? "Our training is going to involve tomatoes today?" he teased lightly.

Rivener laughed as his threats had the desired effect. When Eiry began screaming his head off, however, the Scorpion let go. Isi or Aphi would be yelling at him soon, telling him to stop manhandling his brother. Better to stop it before it got too far.

"I was only teasing, Eiry. Good god, do you really think I'd be that mean?" He ruffled the other's hair. "You gotta pick up all those books though. I'm certainly not going to do it, and it's all YOUR doing anyway." Riv crossed his arms and motioned at the pile of toppled literature.

His attempt to laugh at her rather unfortunate, yet highly amusing moment wouldn't have been registered by her. Nope, not at all as a ghastly sort of cry came from within the other's home then. Ebony didn't scream or gasp or anything one would normally do when in the presence of such a sound. All she did was raise a slender brow in question towards the house wondering what was going on to warrant such a response. But soon even that small distraction was pushed from her mind as her attention refocused on her so called 'pupil' and the bag she'd brought along.

Ebony smirked as she took the runaway produce he'd offered her and placed them back in the bag. "Tomatoe training? Hmm, really hadn't crossed my mind, but now that you mention it..." That smile morphed into a devilish laugh before she put Aphismet's worst fears to rest. "No no, nothing of that sort. So don't worry that pretty little white head of yours. No, with winter just right around the corner, I needed to finish harvesting my garden. It's usually just me and I couldn't possibly eat all this food by myself even if I did dehydrate some of it." Making sure the bag was absolutely tightened shut to stave off another 'prison break', Ebony handed the bag over to Aphismet. "And since I didn't want any of it to go to waste, I figured a chief as yourself could find better and much more creative ways of using it. Sorry its so heavy. Guess I over compensated."

As he spun free from his brother's grip, Eiry began chuckling again apparently amused by his own exaggerated shrieking. Half of it was for real, from his real technophobia, but the other half was over exaggerating to the point that he could hardly hold himself back from laughing. He pulled his grey hands up to his mouth and wiggled his fingers at the other brother, grinning broadly and teasingly. As soon as Rivener glanced at the huge pile of books, Eiry mused for a moment and laughed again, before he zoomed close to Rivener's face. With red eyes intense and exciting, Eiry whispered in a serious voice, "Let's block the stairwell."

Aphismet simply winced at the wail, knowing all too well who it was. Either the car horn had scared Eiry, or Rivener was picking on him. Seeing as Ebony hadn't seemed too disturbed by it, Aphismet didn't offer an explanation. Instead he smiled warmly at the present.

"Fresh garden vegetables! Wow, thank you, Ebony. Food always tastes best when prepared with home-grown stuff; I'll make us something extra delicious today, then. Here, let's bring it inside and then we can get to work." He led the way to the house, pushing the screen door open with his hips and heading for the kitchen. While passing the dining hall, he grinned at Isi. "Hey, we got some vegetables! Ebony, you remember my brother Isikoro?" he added with a nod to the purple-haired woman.

Rivener crossed his arms and sighed. "No, Eiry, I'm not going to block the stairwell. First of all, it's really pointless. Next, if Isi or Aphi (most likely Isi) climbs up and the book wall shakes, it could crumble down on them and make them fall down the stairs, injuring them badly. Thirdly, it WILL make a hellish mess and I'm not going to help you clean it up THEN, under the pretense that since I helped you make the wall, I am partly responsible for the mess." He nodded curtly once, narrowing his eyes at the ghostly Frei. "Why the hell are you making walls out of books anyway?"

She followed into a home that look much like it came right off the lot of a hollywood horror flick, most especially in this fog, but without hesitation and possibly with something that could be catagorized as a smile. It was pleasing to hear that he liked her gift, of which was more or less a silent token of her thanks really. Even though she didn't say or otherwise outwardly show it, Ebony enjoyed her weekly drives out to his home. It meant less time spent alone, which was odd because she rather enjoyed time by herself more than that of the company of others. Though one had to admit it was rather hard not to like Aphismet and sometimes his good nature was contagious.

"I know you want to get right into it, but don't feel like you have to push for me. Besides, today's a bit of a dreary day, so I'm not going to run you ragged for once. But we can review whatever you'd like." Ebony stopped in front of the dining hall entrance and gave a slight bow towards the younger of the brothers. "Of course. Good morning Isikoro. How are you?"
