Razalin pushed her glasses up and stared thoughtfully at the map. She still refused to admit an accomplished doctor (or 'healer' or whatever it was they called her occupation here) had such a horrible sense of direction that they needed a map. Furthermore, she refused more avidly than that to admit she was having problems correctly reading said map.
Perhaps she should have taken some sort of wilderness survival class before she left home and came here? She glanced to the left. Trees. Glanced to the right. More trees.
...Yes. That would have been a wise choice to make, but it was too late now.
"Niiiine!" the fire type from beside her piped up merrily. The attempt at cheering her up not only failed but only aggravated the young woman further.
"Hush you," she commanded sharply. "I'm trying to figure out where we are."

Kimi stood at the bas of a tree, looking up into it's branches and out into the sky. She loved being outside and in the woods..... She slapped her right hand down onto her left arm.
"Ugh, bugs...." she said quietly. Why did their have to be bugs out when the forests were in the peak of beauty?
The Houndoom lounging under a bush glanced her way and yawned. Vera could careless very little for the bugs, seeing as she can burn them with her flame. She eyed a lone leaf and sent out a small jet of flames to burn it to ashes.
Kimi smelt the smoke and turned to give her partner a stern glance. "None of that." she said. "Your going to start a forest fire."

If not for the fire, Razalin may have never known anyone was close to her. She was too absorbed in the map (which she was beginning to think was out-dated, because there was no way she could read a map wrong) to pay attention to what was happening around her.
It wasn't even her that noticed the fire. Rather, the Ninetales did and alerted her of it. "Nine! Ninetales!" The tone of his calls was no longer one of 'cheer up, Razzy, it'll be okay!', so she actually bothered sparing him a glance.
"What now?"
"Nine!" Van shifted his whole body and turned his head to motion toward the direction he had seen the small burst of light that being a fire type himself he knew instantly was from a flame. Wordlessly, he led Razalin that way, pushing through the brush and stopping in front of the trainer and her Pokemon. "Niiine!"
Razalin looked surprised. Huh. This fuzzy moron wasn't such a useless beast after all. "Ahem." She cleared her throat. "My name is Doctor Razalin Tess. Would you happen to know which way to the nearest town?"

Kimi stared at the other person dumbly for a moment. Vera crawled out of her space slowly, emitting a faint growl at the two intruders as she saw them. She didn't like having these people barging in on their quiet time.
"Ummm.... uhhh...." Kimi started. Her mind was a complete blank except for Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap! She glanced around and pointed back the way she had come from. "I uh. Think it's ummmm....... That way. But I'm not totally sure...."
She began to blush and could feel her heart rate increasing. She hated talking to people so much.

"That way?" Hm. Was it really that way? Razalin was almost positive she'd been that direction already. Then again, all the directions looked exactly the same. Ugh. How did people deal with this kind of travel constantly? "What's that? Speak up."
Razalin made a thoughtful grunt as she took in the teenagers composure. "Are you sick? You should probably head into town with me if that's the case. I'm only a doctor for Pokemon unfortunately." Did she have a fever? Her face was awfully red.
Van didn't seem to bother paying attention to the conversation between the two people. No, his interest was more centered around Vera. Quite a pretty Pokemon, he decided. Very much worthy enough for his charm.
This logic had the 'fuzzy moron', as Razalin called him, struting over to Vera and (with no regard for personal space) sitting right in front of her. With an added wink. "Niiine! Ninetales nine!" (Nice to meet you, Beautiful! You're quite an explorer to know your way around here!)

"Umm. No, I'm not sick!" Kimi began again. "I don't feel like going back to town anyways. I don't like all the peop- I mean the closed spaces." Almost let that one slip. "And I am pretty sure the town is that way. But then again I haven't been there for a while....."
She glanced around again trying to get her sense of directions again. She was used to running around in the woods with her sister back home.
Vera loosened up a little, but only a little as the Ninetales began to compliment her. He was just a little to forward in her opinion. "Houn hou. Doom hound!" (Nice to meet you too, I guess. But these woods are so small you would have to be dumb to get lost in them!)

"Hm. I see." Razalin's head lowered and her eyes scanned over the map yet again. Her glasses began to fall and she pushed them up by the rim with two fingers. Yes, yes. She saw it now. It was definately that way. "Thank you, then, that was all I needed."
Van tilted his head and had a rather playful look on his face. "Niine? Ninetales nine ninetales niiine." (That so? You're awfully pretty to be so mean.) He got back onto all fours, stretched his back legs and threw a second wink her way. "Ninetales nine." (But if you don't want us here we'll leave quietly.)

Kimi let out a sigh of relief. She wouldn't have to deal with this person any more and she could get on with looking for some land her parents could buy for her.
Vera had heard Kimi sigh and had a very nasty idea. That and she also wanted to learn more about this Ninetales, he was so unlike the usual chumps she meets. "Hound doom hound." (Why leave in such a hurry?) She completed relaxed her stance now and stretched her legs. "Hou? Doom Hound." (But if your heading some where perhaps I should come with you? Your trainer doesn't seem to have any sense of direction at all and I would be glad to show you the way back.) She had a wicked glint in her eye, knowing that Kimi would be forced to follow her.

Van didn't look surprised. Why should he be? His charm never failed him in the decades he'd been alive. It was only a matter of time before even more tempermental Pokemon like a Houndoom fell under his spell, so to speak.
It was an arrogant way of thinking, and the main reason Razalin called him 'Fuzzy Moron' instead of his name. Speaking of which... "Ninetales. Niiine. Niine Ninetails." (I would love that. I like a lady who knows where she's going. My name is Sir Van'Tess, by the way.)
Razalin was about to tell him to follow her, and startled when he started working without her, side by side with the other girls Pokemon no less.

Vera controlled her urge to roll her eyes and snap at the Ninetales. Instead she walked beside him and began to talk.
"Hou. Hou Dooom. Doom Houndoom." (Vera. Vera's my name. And I have to know where I'm going if I need some time away from Kimi.)
Kimi watched wordlessly as Vera walked off. Was she really that bad of a trainer/breeder that her Pokemon walk off on her? Vera had walked off before but never with another person's Pokemon.

"Niinetales? Ninetales nine." (Vera is it? I like it.) Van was pushing his luck, which was nothing new. The only reason he didn't have visible scars anymore from irritated females mauling him was because he hadn't left the family estate in many years, and they made sure to keep him away from other Pokemon. Oh, such cruelty!
"Ninetales nine?" (Is that your trainers name?) Really, he wasn't that interested in her trainer, but he was doing well sounding like he was. The more they walked, the closer he got to Vera, until his side was touching hers.
Yep, definately pushing it.
Razalin rolled her eyes at the display. It shouldn't, but for some reason how stupid Van'Tess was never failed to surprise her. "Looks like your Houndoom is going to escort us," she commented, since, oddly enough, the girl didn't look like she had realized that. "Polite Pokemon. You must be a good trainer."
When in doubt compliment. It always made those rich snobs back home feel a lot more at ease.
She shrugged to herself and followed after the two fire types. The sooner they got out of this damn forest the better...
