Long ago, there was nation of peace and tranquility, named Lukia. It shared a continent full of bountifully harvest and it was abound with natural resources with two other nations, Bareth and Gardueo. Although the continent seemed peaceful from Lukia's side, Bareth and Gardueo we're always at war. Gardueo's people came to the continent after Lukia, but their population quickly grew, faster than Lukia's or Bareth's. On the continent, there were mountains separating Gardueo and Bareth, and the only way to Lukia was over a land bridge that was on Bareth. If Gardueo ever wanted to reach Lukia, they would have to build a fleet of ships and sail. So of course Gardueo - A land running out of time and land - Went for the quicker target: Bareth. The king first asked nicely for Bareth to give up half their land, but when they refused, they called for war. As the two countries waged war, one fighting to control their population, one fighting to keep what was theirs, Lukia remained on the sideline, very silent, and very peaceful. The people in this kingdom never talked of war, or did the king ever tell his people when Gardueo and Bareth had started up their old feud again. People moved to Lukia because of this, they would not have the weight of war on their minds. Life was great for Lukians, while conditions for the other two countries got worse, especially Gardueo.

Everyone in Lukia knew why Gardueo was attacking so desperately, and some even felt sympathy for the nation, but they knew in the back of their minds that Gardueo would never come for them as long as Bareth was around to be attacked. It always seemed Bareth won the wars, mainly because they had time to make stronger, more experienced soldiers and strategies. While Gardueo on the other hand had little time to train the many soldiers they got and make strategies on top of it. There was once and old joke that Gardueo didn't send soldiers out to get land, they sent them out to die so they could control the population without having to really expand. And through many, many years, Lukia watched as the two nations fought for what they needed. One needed land, the other survival. So where was Lukia in this whole story?

It was a day like any other, quiet and peaceful. The king had asked to go for a ride around some of the land in his chariot, and his guards and paladins of course followed him. The black knight known as Zack Blade had been out that day with an illness he had caught from the training academy with he regularly went to if one of the instructors could not make it. So now, sitting in his royal chariot surrounded by his protectors, the king set off for his ride. He had done this many times before, and everyone came back with not even a scratch. It was Lukia, the people had no worries of war or battles. All they worried about was growing and harvesting their crops, and keeping their businesses running. The knights and paladins talked and joked as they escorted the king throughout his desired route, as they did every time the king went for a ride. As they came upon the forest, they turned to keep from going into it, and figuring they could go back to the kingdom from another route.

Now, people were wondering why Lukia had an army. They certainly didn't need one, since they were never in war. But the king had insisted they could never be too safe, and that he knew the day would come when Gardueo either won against Bareth or changed targets. Unfortunately, he was right. As they turned and went up the path, an ambush of about twenty Garduians came out of the forest and took the king and his knights by surprise. Since Zack Blade was not there, they had no chance, and everyone except one soldier was slaughtered. And the only reason he lived is because the Garduians thought they had inflicted fatal wounds on him, and left him to die a slow, painful death. But to the soldiers luck, they had just barely missed where they needed to hit. Slowly and painfully, the solider took one of the king's horses and released it from the wagon, and rode it back to Lukia when the Gardiuians had turned back to go to their ship. He was going to report the news to his people, and as he rode back he wondered how they would react. Gardueo had just broken the five hundred year old peace Lukia had lived...
