Okay people, you've shared your favorite historical era, but about a favorite event(s) in history?
Spaceflight, Revolutionary War, Kennedy's presidency? There must be a few things you love! Share!

hmm.. I dont know that I have a favorite event... lets see.. the Norman invasion of Britain in 1066 at the battle of Hastings, a major battle that decided the fate of England. as William was landing at Hastings, another Viking army of King Harald had invaded, so King Harold (the English king) had to fight them first before meeting the Normans on the coast. That is what pretty much won the battle for the Normans and I cant help but wonder what wouldve happened if the Vikings hadnt come just then. England would be different today.. even our language would be different.
there is also the death of Julius Caesar and his relationship with Cleopatra, the reign of Queen Elizabeth (I saw the new movie and LOVED it), the battle of Troy always intrigued me... when I was a kid it was still considered myth, but then they found the ruins and I thought it was incredibly cool that they taught about it to my son when he was in grammar school. in Herodotus's The Histories, it is said that Paris and Helen never actually made it to Troy.. they got blown off course in a storm and landed in Egypt, so I wonder about that too
that's all I can think of just now.. I'll post more should I think of more smile

May I say something vague, like "the sixties"? =] As an activist and a musician, I find them to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
