((Man, I am CLEVER with the titles.))
Kian was home! Hurrah! It was all well and good and he was happy. Then, he got a costume shoved in his hands. Apparently, he would be wearing a sheet, sandles and an eyemask to a party at the Unit home? Iamel also informed him that the new piercings under his lips were lovel (although very sore).
Well. That was news. The party, anyway. He didn't mind - it was a chance to try and socalize with the people he said he wanted to help. Kian had met quite a few of them and rather liked them. Most of them? Rothe kind of counted too, didn't he? Kian shuddered at the thought, strolling into his bedroom and tossing the bag onto the bed with abandon. The room was unchanged and his snake, fat from the small mouse it had been fed a few days previous, was burrowed under it's substrate. Jii, the silly fox, was curled up under the bed.
In essance, he was alone. For the last three weeks, there had been noise but it was the quiet sort of noise. Background noise, useless static. The grandparentals had been kind and the female friend amusing but... Kian wanted something familier. Comforting.
And hell, he hadn't talked to Autsu for three weeks.
So, after a staring contest with the phone that had been installed in his room months before, Kian sat at his desk and painstakingly dialed the numbers to Autsus home. He had recieved them a while back, when the Unit was getting together, and for the first time he found them of use.
It rang. he waited.

Kniene's household was not one that was known for its technological awareness. No television, no radio. It was almost surprising to find they had a stove. They did, however, have a phone. Technically, it was Sethos's phone, necissary to keep track of his buisness. That said, he used it rarely, and on those occasions that it rang, the nearest person usually answered with varying levels of surprise.
When it rang, Kniene was meditating, and Sethos was in the kitchen, making soup. Autsu, meanwhile, was perusing the classified ads, searching for a job where he could beat things up, because retail wasn't something he was even going to consider. He wasn't having much luck.
"Good Afternoon, this is Autsu." It was how Sussare had taught him to answer the phone.

For a rather long moment, there was silence. Then, startling Kian slightly, he laughed against the reciever at Autsus tone. The other boy had always been polite, so that came as no surprise, but it was a relief to hear him.
Kian was always thinking that people were going somewhere.
"I've returned home, Ally. How have you been?" The laughter had stopped but still, amusement tinged the usually monotone voice. "Has everything gone well?"

Kian voice! Kian voice? Kian voice. And there was laughter there, under the usual lack of emotion. Autsu forced himself calm, ignoring excitement, nerves, relief and... well... more doubt than he knew what to do with. But that was okay too, because it was Kian, and if the situation around the other teen was confusing, the boy himself was, at least, a constant.
"There have been no unexpected difficulties. Except that I can not find work." Also, he added silently, there is the problem of our previous conversation. But that, they could figure out later. Maybe. Maybe Kian had forgotten the whole thing. "It is frustrating."
"You enjoyed your time away?"

It was indeed Kians voice. His lips were even pulled in the smallest fraction to create a smile at the others tone, his words. The long-haired alien had missed things so reliable and the same. While he didn't miss the simplistic, monotomous life on his previous planet... Well, it was always good to have Autsu around.
"You are looking for work? What are you looking for? My job requires water... I do not think your wings would like that." He murmured, leaning back against his chair with closed eyes.
"It was... interesting. The parentals female insisted on cutting my hair and the parentals male had me playing some sport where you... tackle people. Satisfactory. I missed you; had you been there I'm sure it would have been more entertaining."

"I have need of some extra money. But there are few jobs that call for hitting." And what else was he good at, really? Not that Autsu minded, it was what he'd trained himself to do. But his was a narrow path. It meant he was a better warrior than most, but not otherwise useful.
He shrugged, a rustling gesture that revealed his unfamiliarity with phone calls. It was not a sign that Kian could read. But he wasn't good at this type of talking, and as glad as he was to hear his friends voice there was a strange disconnectedness to it, when Kian himself was absent.
"I have... wished for your presence as well." He admitted, trying to picture Kian with shorter hair. Remembering instead the feeling of that hair tangled around his fingers. "We could... meet?"

"We could meet." Kian parroted, agreeing with the question softly. He, too, was unused to phone calls but sometimes it was easier to speak with a barrier. It's what he loved so much about his hair at times; the locks were a curtian and he could hide from anyone he so felt like.
"Did you have anywhere in mind, 'Tsu? I am at home right now and Sibling is trying to convince me to wear a bedsheet to the Units... Halloween party? I did not know there was to be one but he is trying, none the les." Kian paused, "I would welcome a distraction."

"You are going to the Halloween party? Then I will see you there." He was not completely ignorant to the custom anymore, after all, they'd gone looking at costumes together, once. He would have to find a costume though. He had not thought to attend. But it would be good, if Kian was there. He had missed Kian. That was true.
"It would be best if the base had us there to watch it, at such an event, anyway."

"My brother is bringing Dee and he had decided that I will be going with him. You know Iamel - he is more stubborn then I am." He sighed at that, heavily. It would have been the...second year he had known Autsu, Kian realized. The second year on Gaia, even. How odd. The party seemed a bit less dismal knowing Autsu would be there anyway. He had missed his friend.
The three-eyed aliens next words could almost be considered teasing. Even his voice was light, almost gentle. "You just wish for another excuse to go then to see me, Tsu. It will even be enjoyable, with you there. But wear some sort of costume as well, please. If I have to wear only a bedsheet and sandals then you--"
"HEY! KIAN!" A voice suddenly bellowed from downstairs - poor Autsu could probably hear the echo. "Get off the PHONE! I need to USE IT!"
He was silent for a moment and then Kian clearedhis throat briefly. "Apparently, I need to get off. I will see you then, Tsu?"

If it hadn't been for the interuption, and Kian's saying he must leave, Autsu might have responded, in some way, to the other boys teasing. As it was, he lowered his eyes, another 'Kian is in the room' sort of reaction, and pulled his wings against his back. Great, now he really had to find a costume, and quickly. Maybe something from his father's closet would suit?
"Yes, I will be there." He promised instead, that whisper of a smile that he so rarely wore reaching his lips. "Goodbye Anne."
