We need some classic series discussion in here. biggrin
Currently, I'm in the middle of re-watching "The Gun on Ice Planet Zero", and enjoying myself thoroughly. smile
I wanted to do a "favorite episode" poll, but Gaia only allows ten slots for a poll. So, I'll just ask: what's your favorite episode? smile

Phew! ^_^
Honestly, it's been so many years since I've last seen the originals, that I'd have to sit down with a good sized marathon of it in order to make an informed answer. ^^ With that being said, it would drive me nuts when two-parters would come on on the weekends, and I'd have to wait a week to see what happened next.

I wish it was possible for you to visit for longer than just a weekend. We could have ourselves a classic BSG marathon. smile

I'm really enjoying rewatching this. smile A few episodes are stinkers, but that's true of every series, and this show never really stops being fun in any case!
A couple of things strike me when watching it:
- The visuals are amazing for their time. Sure, there are those two or three Viper stock shots that are re-used in every single episode, but aside from that, the effects are quite grand, and I really love the sets (especially the Galactica interiors). - For the most part, it's a rather lighthearted show- sort of like Star Trek TOS with more whiz-bang stories and action. I obviously enjoy this, but it doesn't really ring true dramatically, given the show's premise. I'm not saying I want the show to be depressing (we get that enough from new BSG); I'm just saying, it'd make more sense if the show actually focused more on the fallout from the Cylon holocaust, instead of happy-go-lucky romps through wacky adventures. - I actually sorta like Boxey. smile I like the family dynamic he has with Apollo. I wish new-Boxey had stayed on new BSG, instead of mysteriously disappearing. - It's kinda hard to wrap my head around the Colonial lingo. ^_^;; Really, though, I kinda like the fact that they have a bunch of words all their own, because it reinforces the idea that these humans aren't us- it was the right choice for this show. (I do wish they used some kind of script other than Latin, though- Star Wars has the right idea with Aurabesh.) - Watching Dirk Benedict as Starbuck has caused me to appreciate just how well Katee Sackhoff was able to imitate him in season 1. wink Really uncanny. - "Felgercarb" is an awesome word. XD
All in all, I still love this show. smile I actually think I love it even more as a fan of new BSG, which is a bit weird since the two shows are so different.
I wouldn't mind seeing a classic series continuation at all! Maybe Tom DeSanto's continuation project can get picked up again...

I don't know if you know this or not, but you can watch classic BSG for free (legally) on NBC's site! This show is... a lot cheesier than I remember it. XD That's okay, though; I like cheese.
