Drg/Whm is a great combination for soloing - but its not usually used in a pt.
I'm not too sure what DRGs sub in pts but I'll put money down on it being /war at low lvls, /thf lvl 60+ and /sam occasionally.

I best subjobs tend to be either /war /thf /sam(tp bonus... etc) or /whm(which can be soloable O.o) I used my whole drg career as a /thf (well 43 levels of it) but you should really try /war or /sam if you want parties and /whm if you want to solo while waiting...but I never soloed with drg before.

There are many optional subs for DRG
-WAR--------- for pt and other party related fights like NM fights.
-THF-------- for pt, also for HNM fights for 100% hit from sneak attack
-NIN---------- for some survival fights, e.g. a NM that has a 1-hit-kill attack or cases of overhating in a bad situation.
-WHM-------- best sub for soloing
-BLM---------another sub for soloing, useful for the aspir and some cheaper mp spell
-SAM-------- a pt and NM fight sub for building tp
-DRK---------optional sub, have good attack and multi-purpose wywern but very low mp
