Finally! Freedom!

Tiny paws scampered across the ground as they bounded and chased each other. They had finally escaped their parents and were free to do whatever they wished all day long. Or, at least, until their mother or father came searching for them. But they hoped that wouldn't be for a while yet. They wanted to explore and find a place to call their own.

"Hurry up," a little male voice spoke.

"Shut up," the other, female, voice shot back. They both smiled and started laughing. They were siblings, brother and sister, closer than anyone they'd known. Abra, the black female, took pride in being so close to her brother Orion. For one, he looked like their mother and so with him always by her side it was like her mother always by her side. For another thing, she was taking after her grandfather Phib in that she wanted to be just like him: the powerful and respected leader of a large and formidable pack. Orion was just the beginning of the group of loyal followers she planned to have when she grew older.

"I'm the leader, remember?" Abra spoke to her brother, bounding quickly through some bushes, her brother right at her heels.

Orion scoffed. He was her 'follower' in her eyes, but he still had to be trained. He was too rebellious and too much of a thinker. "You're never gonna be like grandpa Phib," he taunted. Knowing that was a weak spot for her, he said that just to hit a nerve and start a play fight.

Stopping suddenly, his sister turned on him. "Want to say that again?" she challenged. Orion grinned and did so. In the next instant he was toppling over, his sister having tackled him. They went tumbling for a while through the bushes and undergrowth. Eventually they landed on the soft sands of the beach, laughing and giggling at each other. They were still puppies and things hadn't yet become serious.

"You're funny, brother," Abra spoke, walking closer to the water before sinking down to lay on her belly. Orion followed her then lay down beside her, leaning against her side.

"I know," he laughed. "You're going to be just like grandpa Phib."

"Darn right."

Tearh, Ghilt and Kia were wandering hte beach near the edge of the water waves as they lapped the shore and foamed while they continued along on their imaginary quest. Tearh was ahead of both, Ghilt and Kia on either side of the ridegbacked female pup.

She had the strip of fur her father and that other blue wolf had, though she wasn't sure that when she had seen the blue wolf hte other day if she was just imagining him, though he looked rather cool with a white strip of fur like her daddy.

Maybe they were related, or maybe they were the same but different, Tearh had strange ways of thinking.

"Tearh, where are we going now hmm?" Ghilt asked, swaying his tail while he watched Kia walk silently, she was so quiet, but she was smart, they were a group not to be messed with. Ghilt's eyes were a great tool, looking blind but not being so, just like his father, Tearh had their mother's symbol which meant she was strong and fierce, and Kia was the brains in their group.

They were a force to be reckoned with.

"Just around, we had to be able to walk on different terrain when we lead everyone to the valley one day brohter," Tearh said proudly holding her head high.

Kia smiled at the thought of hte hidden lost valley, it would be fun to get there one day.

Abra and Orion continued to lay side by side on the sand, their bright green eyes watching the water slowly lap up the beach then retreat again. The black wolf was entranced by the rhythm of the ocean, but Orion paid it no mind as he thought to himself. Though he pretended to be a follower of his sister, and though he loved her very much, he knew he wouldn't be content to simply follow her for much longer. Though a pup, he was thinking of the future, and he could already tell that he was too ambitious to stay with his dominant sister.

Breaking his thoughts, Abra nudged him. He bristled slightly but controlled himself. "What?" he asked, rather too loudly. His sister hushed him with a glare.

"There are voices coming towards us," she whispered, laying flat against the sand. She was pure black, however, and she didn't very well blend with the sand. Her brother was gray, so he didn't have any more luck than she did. But he wasn't so concerned. Abra's thoughts were always on how she could better herself to be more like her grandfather. Orion, meanwhile, simply played along until he could figure out his own situation.

Watching carefully, both pups soon spotted three forms heading towards them. It was a group of puppies, and the female in front seemed dominant. Instincts taking over, Abra raised herself to her paws, ears and tail erect. Orion stood at her side, but a bit behind. He was a subordinate to her, but still powerful in his stance.

Anxiously, they waited for the others to grow close.

Tearh stopped as soon as she was able to see the other two forms clear enough, one black, almost like Grandpa Phib (Tearh saw Phib as her grandpa since her mother talked so highly of him, and that her mother seemed to be quite fond of the black alpha male). Ghilt saw them too and his eyes fell on the black female that seemed in charge of her gray pelted brother, another strong wolfess to befriend? Ghilt gave a smile to her, swayed his tail once, and then eyed Kia who seemed to have her eyes set on the gray male.

Kia was strange, though Orion sparked some interest in her for some reason.

Swaying her tail Tearh stepped forward, seeing that the black female seemed dominant, Tearh gave the same expression she was not submissive, not at all.

"Hello," Tearh said, followed by Ghilt and Kia's voice echoing her own statement, she wondered how the other two would respond.

Abra prided herself in not only being dominant like Phib, but looking like him too. It made it easier for others to associate her with him. If they knew she was a blood descendant of Phib, they'd certainly show her more respect. And respect was exactly what she needed to start herself on her way to becoming a great alpha like him one day.

Orion, however, simply prided himself in being independent and a strong thinker. His sister was a well-rounded wolf, possessing the good traits of an alpha, but he was more cunning than she was. That would give him the advantage over her one day. But, for now, he remained content to simply be associated with power, and he stood faithfully at her side as the others approached.

At the non-threatening greeting, Abra relaxed slightly. They were only puppies, but she had to watch for enemies all around.

Maintaining a dominant pose but relaxing somewhat, Abra wagged her tail slightly to show she was friendly enough. "Hey," she called back, eyes running all along the group. There were three, two girls and one boy. The lead female caught her interest most. Another one like her. Already she was thinking of alliances.

Her brother's eyes watched them all equally, but it was the quiet female that caught his interest most. He liked the red and black female because she was dominant, but he knew it was always the quiet ones you had to look out for. They seemed stupid on the outside, but who knew what was going on inside?

"I'm Abra," the black female spoke proudly. "And this," she said with a toss of her head towards her brother, "is my brother Orion." The gray male stepped forward confidently, wagging his tail once to show his friendliness, but otherwise keeping a passive-aggressive face. He was wary of these puppies. Another powerful group in the area meant competition.

Unaware of her brothers thoughts, Abra sat herself down. "What are you guys doing here?"

Tearh watched this Abra, she looked like Phib, though no one would be better then Phib, ever, unless it was her mommy of course, Tearh idolized her other so, they even shared a mark together, and Tearh's mark was right over her heart, which in the end would make her stronger. Also, Tearh's mother taught her valuable things, like the wolf beside you in the end will be your greatest ally and will make you stronger.

Yes, Tearh hoped one day her mom would become an Alpha just like Phib.

"I'm Tearh," she said with pride, head tall, back straight, she was strength in her own mind, and she would let her friends introduce themselves, for you had to give your friends, siblings, and allies their chance, and you could not be dominant over all of them all the time, that spelt disaster for hte future.

Another lesson from her mom adn dad.

"I'm Ghilt," he said prould,y seemingly blind eyes settling on Abra, though he wasn't sure if he'd be able to tell.

"K-" she stopped when she saw Orion staring at her, thus Kia scooted back a bit, tail low, "Kia," and she took refuge behind Tearh and Ghilt...why was hte boy watching her?

While Tearh dreamed of her mother becoming an alpha alongside Phib, Abra dreamed of becoming an alpha herself, if not by Phib's side then at least residing over a pack that was an ally to his. But before she got there, she'd have to make alliances and to get herself known as a good leader. Perhaps this Tearh could be her first ally.

Nodding her head, she spoke, "Nice to meet you all." Her brother stepped up beside her, his side nearly touching hers. He was still weary of Kia, although that quickly changed when the quiet female suddenly seemed afraid of him. He frowned, never having wanted to come across as a monster or anything. But that look that he gave her said it all. Glancing away, he nodded to Tearh and Ghilt.

"Nice to meet you guys."

Abra, having noticed the interaction between her brother and the shy female, gave him a questioning look. Understanding, he simply shrugged and sat down beside her. She smiled and shook her head at him, relaxed now that introductions had been made and no one had growled at another.

"So what are you guys doing on the beach?" Orion asked, repeating his sister's earlier question.
