Kale spread his fingers against the cold, damp walls of the common room. He stood at the farthest end of the room where the flames from the fire hearth flickered across his sculpted features. Withdrawing his palm from the stone frozen wall, Kale took muted steps backwards, till his heels grazed the leather-plushed couch. As he took the seat provided and ran slim fingers through his locks, Kale noticed all warmth escape his body with the absence of the flames' heat. He leaned his head casually back and allowed the tension in his back and shoulders to release. A deep silence engulfed the common room. The familiar silence, in which he was so accustomed to back at his summer manor, let him relaxed; before the onrush of housemates arrived.

Ascella walked silently, and slowly through the entrance of the Slytherin common room. She took a silent breath as she set a few of her things down. Her eyes landed on the fire. She herd someone else there and jumped only slightly.
She looked over, noticing the figure of someone.. Kale. A small smirk escaped her lips as she stopped, and stared at the warmth of the common room fire.

Kale nodded politely at the ever lovely Cella, upon her entrance. He flicked his wand towards the 2nd fireplace, and the flames that died out, came to life. Motioning with a hand for Ascella to make herself at home and possible join him by the fire, Kale turned his gaze back to the embers.

Ascella took a seat next to Kale. She said nothing as her left leg as tucked neatly behind her right as she sat down. Her heart rate went up, but only slightly as she could her Kales breath. Her eyes rested upon the now more illuminated fire before her. That was the only light in the common room, besides the stars beyond the window. Her chest rose and fell beneath her uniform as she breathed, taking in the aroma of the the wood in the fire.

Kale dwelled in the silence, glad that Ascella wasn't one of the girls who chittered incessantly. He breathed deeply, curling a loose thread from the couch around his index and thumb. As the fire crackled, Kale's mind wandered. He knew he really shouldn't laze about the commons on the first day, but at the moment he could care less. Once his mates entered, he would make use of his voice before it died from underuse.

Finally turning towards Cella, Kale angled his frame to face her fully. Cocking his head to the side, as he took in her appearance, he couldn't help but feel that something about her was...different. Not being able to place a finger on what exactly, he shrugged the feeling away.

Ascella noticed that Kale as looking her over. Her composure didn't alter, or sway in the very least.
Her mind wandered from many things to the other. She noted the color and complexity of Kales eyes. She saw something in them that she hadn't noticed before. Some sort of........she couldn't quite decide what.
She wondered what Kale was thinking about as he looked at her. Her grey eyes focused on the patterned carpeting. Her mind wandered as they noticed nothing around her. For a second she forgot where she was.
She remembered what Darius had said at the table, and a small laugh escaped her lips.

The sudden sound that escaped from Cella jolted Kale from his thought, in which he wondered whether he'd be able to convince Darius for a game of Quidditch when he appeared. Standing to his full height, Kale strode over to the side table and snatched an apple from the fruit bowl. Sinking his teeth into the apple and biting a chunk from it, Kale chewed slowly. Still standing, he tossed the apple in the air and caught it repeatedly.

"What is so amusing Cella?" He used her nickname with friendly affection

Cella looked at him, a small smirk.
"Nothing really. Pretty much a small misunderstanding. People keep saying that me and Raina are siblings. Darius even thought so. Do we even look anything alike? Or is it just that we fight so much?"

Kale's chest rumbled with a deep chuckle as he recalled his own blunder in assuming Acella and Raina were siblings. Ripping another chunk of the apple off, and enjoying the tangy flavor, Kale parted his mouth to comment.

"Hm, well maybe it's that I see you two around eachother so often. And yes, you both do argue quite often." He chuckled yet again.

"Where is that girl anyways?"

Darius moved down into the Slytherin common room, a slight smirk hidden by his hair, hanging loose to cover his face. Ahhhhhh look who was here... just the two of them. Poor Kale, he had a feeling his friend felt rather like a hunted hare these days. "Mmmmmmmm well that was a good meal. We'll have to see if this crop of Slytherin First Years hold up."
He sweeps across the room, and finds a seat facing the other two, and gracefully drops into it. He steeples his fingers together at about chest height, and tilts his head. "Don't you think?" He paused, then grins. "I can't help but be glad my sister is in Ravenclaw. No worries for me about her being a snitch."

A grin lightened Kale's face as Darius entered, and Kale turned his eyes to his housemates, thank dwelling within them.

"Oh yes, lets see how well we can mold these Slytherins. Can't have anyone disgracing our house with foolishness." the corners of his mouth tugged even more as an image of Darius and himself drilling mini wizards came to mind.

"Huh, I can't see why it keep escaping me that you have a sister. Really, you'd think it'd be imbedded in my mind by now." Kale still had yet to see Darius' sibling, though they spoke about her in passing enough.

Darius smiled warmly at Kale and nods. "Mmmm they should be fun to... train into proper Slytherins." His eyes glint with mischief at the memories of pranks in previous years, and pranks certainly still to come. "Mmm we can do it though."

He smirks a little. "Maybe because the thought of a female so young that you can't hit on her bothers you? I know you ignore most of the first year girls for that reason." He teases softly. "After all, it's only when they're 13 or so that they're fair game. My sister's off limits, there for, to you. And even if she wasn't... I wouldn't worry. I've never seen her look at a boy with as much interest as she does a book of charms."

Breaking into a chain of rumbling laughs, Kale's eyes danced. Darius never failed to bring uncommon ease into Kale's llife, with all his joking and sarcasm. That was why he enjoyed the company of his best mate so much.

"Yes, it is quite a disappointment" He snorted in exageration, "I wouldn't dare seduce the girl. Never fear mate, she will simply be a sister for me as well." Kale teased Darius, but made plans of his own to introduce himself to the Ravenclaw girl. He always wanted to feel a protectiveness towards a younger someone that wasn't just his baby cousin. To have the company of a lady, however young, that wouldn't think of relationships. But instead, simply converse with him. The idea was appealing.

Darius looked pleased to see Kale laughing and relaxing. "Ahh there we go. You were looking far to serious, mate." He grinned, pleased. Every time he got Kale to burst out laughing, it pleased him.

Darius snickers softly. "I'm sure she will be. She would be anyways. Of course, for all I know she'll turn 13 and BAM, she'll notice the attraction of the opposite sex." He paused, thought, then added "Or I suppose the same but Mum would go ballistic." He sighed often at the old fashioned ways of his mother.

{are we allowed to use colors?
all of your guys' text seems so drab}

Romilda tucked a stray lock of her silky
black hair back into place as she quietly entered
the common room from the dank corridor outside.
She tiptoed across the carpet over to where her
fellow Slyhterins were sitting. She sank down into a
plush chair, and slid off her shoes.
"I really do hate those things," she said wrinkling her nose
at the pair of hideous black dress shoes.
