Brayden's breath caught when he got a clear view of the vast lake that spread out before him. The crystal water, here and there dotted with patches of ice along the shoreline was truly an amazing sight. It was clear that not too many humans had ever set foot near here, which, he realized, was both a shame and a blessing.
Sai trotted to the water's edge, and, after receiving a confirming nod from Bray, dove into the water happily. Even though he had just the opportunity in Mt. Coronet to play a bit in the water, Sai was ever-pleased to find any excuse to swim. Brayden watched the Vaporeon vanish into the chilly water, seemingly not bothered in the least by the cold temperatures.

Brayden sat down on the shore of the lake, simply relaxing for a bit as Sai played. After a moment, he sent out all his remaining party. It was bound to get tough once they got to Harmony Island, so perhaps a bit of relaxing was in order.
Cye and Mac joined Sai in the water, while Gin opted to curl around Brayden, effectively keeping him warm while the fox napped. Caliga sniffed, a little jealous, but she would never admit it. Instead, she trotted off to explore the woods on the outskirts of the lake. Ariadne hovered by, in case Brayden wanted to discuss things.
Which, of course, he did.

"So why is it that I ended up attacking them?" Brayden asked bluntly, staring out over the water of the lake. The Gardevoir did the same for a moment, before turning her attention back to her trainer. For once, she didn't come up with anything sarcastic.
'To be honest. I don't know the cause. While I can see into your mind, the rest of your body is closed to me. But, I do know this. Starting in Mt. Coronet, your thoughts started to cloud a bit. It was as if your emotions were all in a spin. It started slowly at first, but by the time you exited the mountain, I had lost all mental contact with you.'
"Hm..." Bray murmured, before offering the slightest of nods, "That was kinda how I felt, really. I'm not really sure how to describe it, but it was confusing. Whenever I looked at my friends, I felt nothing. And when I looked at Kaya... there was hate," he shivered. Not a happy thing to be remembering. While he certainly was in control of his actions back then, he even more clearly remembered the incident.
"But you say that its not about to happen again soon?" Brayden asked, daring to hope a bit.
'I am unsure, boss' Ariadne responded after a moment's thought, 'When your emotions returned to normal was when that snake boy hit you with that Thunder Wave. It could be that that tangible feeling gave you something to focus on, instead of the stray emotions. Or it could be that your fear of electricity was stronger than the urge to choke your prince to death,' she stated grimly, causing Brayden to flinch.
Cye in the water had spotted a Noctowl up above, who had started to dive at Mac, spotting the small water type. The Feraligatr growled low in warning, but the Noctowl apparently thought he could snatch Mac from the water before Cye could do anything.
He underestimated the Feraligatr's speed. With a blast of water, Cye threw a Hydro Pump at the owl, knocking the wind from beneath the bird's wings. As the Noctowl fell into a frenzied fall, before finding an air current, catching the air and flapping to gain altitude, the Noctowl screeched, hurling a Confusion at Cye. It did little to deter the Feraligatr, who was now quite within range. An Ice Punch had the bird squawking, flapping frantically to flee the scene.
Cye sniffed, watching the bird go.

Brayden was less than thrilled with the news, as he watched the faint movement of the water on the shore's edge. Ariadne fell silent as well for once, not offering any snips of sarcastic humor as was her custom even when things got tough.
"Hm..." Brayden murmured simply after a few minutes contemplation.
"Well, it is a pretty lake," he continued, obviously changing the subject. And indeed, the view certainly was breathtaking.

To get his mind off of things, Brayden opted to explore a bit, taking to the shore. He left Gin to enjoy his nap in the sun. While the Ninetails didn't particularly like the cold, his fur and natural heat was more than enough to melt the snow away from the immediate area that he was in. His water types were still enjoying the chilly lake waters, and Ariadne had opted to stay by the entrance to the lake. Although Brayden wasn't sure whether it was to give him time to think, or to give him the option of rescue if he got lost while exploring.
Once in a while he'd see Cali's rings glowing through the dark underbrush on the opposite shore. So, Brayden was truly alone for the time being. It was a strange feeling, he realized. He was so used to having his Pokemon with him. But, at the same time, it was somewhat refreshing.
He could hear a couple of Noctowl calling to each other from across the lake. He would have been interested in what they were saying, but as he had no talent for that sort of thing, he contented himself to simply listening to their calls in the background, as he wove through the trees. The forest got pretty thick once you left the main path to the shore, he discovered. It was relatively hard to traverse, even for someone like him who was used to traveling in tough places.

A little bit of flipping through his Pokedex, and Brayden really couldn't find any Pokemon that he needed to catch in the area. A shame, he realized, sighing and pocketing the device. Despite it being a lake, there weren't too many water types around. Which, after giving it a bit of thought, wasn't all that surprising given the climate.
So, he wasn't too keen on training, and there weren't any Pokemon to catch. So... what really was there to do? Bray's answer? Wander aimlessly and relax for a bit.

Not quite as put out by the whole situation as he probably should have been, Brayden set out to explore the lakeside for a while, content at the moment to wander wherever his mind saw fit. While the snow was still falling gently, the trees provided much of a cover to shield him from it, even if they were a bit of a pain to weave through.
The boy yawned, stretching as he reached up to grab a tree branch as he ducked under it, simply enjoying the air a bit. It was cold, to be sure. Much cooler than he was used to growing up in Fuchsia, but with the coat on loan from the Pokecenter, he was warm enough to enjoy the frigid beauty of the lake.

'You really haven't seen many places like this, huh Boss?' came Ariadne's mental voice. It startled him at first, he hadn't been aware that she could communicate with him over such a far distance. But, he realized, her powers must have been getting stronger over the course of the months spent with the Gardevoir.
'You're right,' he answered back, 'Even around Fuchsia, there weren't any places like this. Even places like the Safari Zone. Everything had the touch from human hands. Roads, fences, there's nothing like that here. Its amazing.' It truly was a beautiful sight, one that he wouldn't get tired of. If he had any skills in the arts, he would have tried painting a picture of it. As he didn't, he contented himself to trying to paint a mental picture of it instead, one to save for as long as he could remember.

'You're a little too sentimental for my tastes, Boss,' Ariadne laughed mentally, 'Although I do admit, this place is pretty.' The Gardevoir was watching the lake as well, although her attention was drawn, a moment later, as a Smoochum approached the napping Gin'iro.
The small ice type considered the silver fox for a moment, curious. She then walked right up to Gin, kissing him squarely on the nose.
The Ninetails yipped, startled from his nap suddenly, he rose with a whirl, tails flying as he looked around in confusion. The Smoochum giggled, before kicking snow in his face. Gin'iro growled, not about to be put out by a miniature trouble-maker. Before anyone could say anything, the vengeful fox flared a Fire Blast at the Smoochum, who squeaked, immediately toasted. She waddled off in a tiff once she got her bearings, opting that playing Sleeping Beauty with sleeping silver foxes was a bad idea.
Ariadne smirked slightly, watching as Gin watched the Smoochum angrily. Once he was sure she was out of sight, he flopped back down in the snow, quite determined to finish his nap unbothered. And rue to anyone who interrupted him again...

Brayden was too far away from that side of the lake to have seen or heard the exchange, or he would have certainly scolded Gin for picking on a baby Pokemon. But the water trainer was occupied with trying to make his way to the lakeshore. Through the trees definitely proved a challenge, but after a few slips and a hand scraped on rough bark later, Brayden was afforded quite the beautiful view of the lake, as well as the lone small island that dotted the center. It intrigued him, but he figured some things were better left untouched by humans, even though he certainly wouldn't have done anything to disturb the place or damage it.
So Brayden settled on watching, seating himself a bit precariously on a fallen tree that had landed partially in the water. He could spot a few Bibarel eyeing his perch enviously, and he was quite sure that they wanted to use it for their dam. He fancied that he could spot it off in the distance on the far side of the lake, where a mountain stream ran into the lake from the Coronet range.
"Sorry, you can have it when I'm done," he promised the Bibarel, who didn't seem too eager at the notion, but swam off to find other timber.

Brayden turned his attention back to the water beneath him. He watched the faint flowing of current in the river, which was almost invisible where he sat. But, if he looked closely enough, he could see where the water was moving. No body of water remained still, despite the illusionary glassy surface of Lake Acuity.
While the icy streams from the mountains fed the lake, there were also several run-offs that ran to the south. He imagined that several of the small streams eventually met up with the ocean. After all, Snowpoint was close to the sea on pretty much every side.

And so, Brayden just sat. Watching the water. He was sure that there were other things that he should be doing at the moment, but it was nice to just take the time to relax a bit before the group headed off to see what the trouble was at Kaya's homeland.
After a bit, he absently picked up a few pebbles from the shore, dropping them into the water and watching the ripples.

Brayden wasn't sure how long he sat there by the shore, just letting his mind wander. But, eventually, he figured he'd needed to get back with the others. A quick glance to the sky revealed that the sun was starting to lower on the horizon. Even through the pretty thick cloudcover that constantly draped the small town in white snow daily, it was fairly easy to spot the sun's location.
So, Brayden rose, dusting himself off a bit (a faint layer of snow had collected on his person since he had sat down), Brayden hesitatnly picked his way back up the log and towards the shore.
