They say history repeats itself. My favorite version of this is 'If we fail to learn our history, we are doomed to repeat it'
So I thought, hey this might be fun to talk about. Bring up two events in which iot seems the past has come full circle. We can discuss, agree, laugh, or argue (though I'm not one for arguing myself). be sure to list reasons!

I think I'll start this off!
I find the muslim extremists a repeation of the crusaders. The crusaders believed that if they died in battle they would automatically go to heaven for they were fighting for God. The terrorists believe the same thing.
I know there's been several other groups with the same mentality but I can't remember whom...
