She moved out of the trees with a sigh, feeling the sun bounce off of her coat, warming her to the bones. It had been a long time since she had come to this particular area. This was where Calamity had taught her to fly. She had passed nearby many a time, but she'd never dared to go back. It hurt, sometimes. She didn't know what had happened to him. He had gone to join Maeryn's herd, and she had given birth to foals, and things had separated them.
But it was time for Selene to find herself. She had always been bright, smiling, happy for the viewing of everyone. Even Calamity. Father, companion... She gazed around the clearing, noting how much SMALLER everything seemed, now she was an adult.
Butterflies danced around the area, and she couldn't stop a little smile. "You've got to remember to sneak up slowly and freeze when you're close enough...like this..." Calamity had shown her, and she remembered spending days in the clearing. Stalking butterflies, and learning to fly.
"Jump into the air, and flap your wings." she whispered. Just a little hop.

He wasn't sure why he came back to this area every so often to visit. Perhaps it reminded him of days long past. Days that were better suited in dreams instead of reality. Still, it had been real. Selene, Faust... the life that never quite fit. He was a Kalona but it wasn't like he had the proper teaching. His mother and father left him to fend for himself and then they were disappointed that he had strayed. He had needed guidance and he was left alone.
It was no wonder he had ******** things up royally. Got involved with Selene and Faust. Even now he cared about them and thought of them often. You can pretend you don't care but it can never actually stop you from caring. He had to remind himself that they were from two different worlds. His run in with Reaper was a quick reminder of that. Even as a Kalona he had come close to dying. His body was scarred rather badly from the ordeal. Did he look as different as he felt?
If he hadn't been lost completely in this thoughts, he might have realized he was no longer alone as he came around the bend of trees. That a ghost from his past and figment haunting his thoughts was right before his eyes.

Her eyes were closed, but she could still feel a shift that said she was not alone. Perhaps it was the fact the kalona was in another world that allowed it. Regardless, instinct made her freeze like a rabbit, and she turned slowly to take in a familiar white figure, complete with the piercing green eyes she remembered.
But he looked different to her eyes. Older, more worn. The light she could remember seemed to have gone, like he bore more weight on his shoulders than he had once. He was scarred visibly, so much it hurt her to look at him. Her chest caught, squeezing tight around the heart it caged.
So long it had been, but it felt like she was a child again. He had helped raise her, and he had played as much of a father to Faust as she had played mother. Was it wrong that she felt this... rage, anger, sorrow? Not pity, no. She couldn't pity him. Whatever had been done, she was fairly certain he'd said something to egg the enemy along.
She couldn't decide what to say to bring his attention to her. Finally, she piped up with the first thing that came to mind, in a voice that sounded even to her ears weak and childish. "You certainly couldn't be mistaken for a mommy anymore, could you Calamity?"
