Fel Essence

User Image Living Bone

The literal spine of most of Earth's creatures, our bones die with the rest of our flesh when we pass. But long since left behind by the rest of its body, this bone continues to grow. No matter how many times it fractures or breaks it is constantly knitting back together, regrowing what has been lost. How can it continue to live when the animal it came from has been dead so long?

Maybe it has something to do with that storm all those years ago.

Soul

User ImageNudibranch: "Spanish Dancer"

Order : Nudibranchia
Suborder : Doridina
Family : Hexabranchidae
Distribution : Tropical Indo-West Pacific.
Maximal size : 400 mm

What you are looking at is the gorgeous and graceful Spanish Dancer, a colorful type of sea slug that twirls through the oceans like the frills of a salsa dress. These little creatures are actually one of the larger types of nudibranch sea slugs, and are shy but non-aggressive, relying instead on a weak neurotoxin in their skin that numbs those they come in contact with. Sort of like Novocain. (Although extensive contact can kill you.)

Sensitive to temperatures and PH level, these little guys are extremely delicate- not to mention picky. Though there are many types of nudibranchs, and as many types of diets for them, most will only eat one specific type of plant or animal. The Spanish Dancer likes sea sponges.

The Concept

[Name] Divinity Lokum
[Guardian] Alistair
[Gender] Either
[Fel.Essence] Living Bone
[Soul] Spanish Dancer

[Lawful.Evil] - I'm doing it for your own good.

[Potential.Abilities] Regeneration and toxic skin.
The nature of the Living Bone seems to lend itself to the power to heal very quickly, or even regrow lost limbs. This could be a power only for use by the Raevan his/herself, (as in a super-quick healer), or it could potentially serve as a power s/he was able to impose on others. (Speeding up the natural healing process to heal a wound or regrow someone's lost limb.) I don't see this as 'healing' so much as speeding up the natural regenerative process. For instance, a scar would still be present, and it still might take some time to complete.

As for the toxic skin? Spanish Dancers protect themselves with the neurotoxin in their bodies, for Divinity it might be the same. His/her touch would numb the nerves, and prolonged contact with his/her skin might be very detrimental to one's health. This could work the the prickly Raevan's advantage, although it might be seen as more of a curse than a gift. Afterall, it would be lonely not to be able to touch others.

[Personality] Solitary and upright, Divinity is a creature used to having his/her way, and likes everything ordered and in its proper place. The kind of child who takes everything seriously- although this is sometimes comical when his/her inherent immaturity becomes apparent. (As serious as s/he is, s/he's still a child, after all!)

A real charmer, but in a calculated, efficient way, there are still sparks of genuine innocence to be found. S/he loves Alice (despite the fact that his constant silliness and cheeriness more than occasionally annoys him/her,) and gets enjoyment out of playing with the creation of the sweets that Alistair makes for a living. Divinity also indulges in a fierce love of a stuffed penguin, that s/he never lets anyone touch.

[Projected.Growth] When Divinity grows up a bit, s/he'll be rather more in touch with his/her desires and beliefs. Squirreling away the defiant and cute nature that peppered his/her behavior as a child, s/he would become much more elegant and refined.

S/he'd also cultivate the vengeful, cruel nature that was present in his/her childhood. Never forgetting and never forgiving trespasses against him/her or his/her beliefs.

Lawful Evil implies any means to justify the ends, upholding and preserving the set of laws and order that one has subscribed to. Once older, Divinity would conciously support this. A creature capable of utterly ignoring tthe restrictions of moral in order to obtain or maintain a goal. Although not necissarily a heartless person- (s/he is fiercely loyal! And can be very tender and loving with those s/he trusts.) -s/he would be a person completely capable and comfortable with the twisted or sadistic so long as it ultimately served his/her purposes.

The Guardian

[Name] Alistair Greenwitch
[Alias] Alice
[Age] 36
[Hair] Dusty, dirt blond peppered in gray
[Eyes] Brown
[Height] 6'1"
[Build] Wide shouldered and well muscled, solid as a rock. The kind of in shape that comes from work, not working at it.

[Scar] At the right corner of his mouth, crossing both lips.
[Appearance] Plain but handsome, Alice is a large, well built man with short, dirty blonde hair that perpetually looks like it's three months late for a cutting.
He has simple taste in clothes- usually too preoccupied to worry about fashion, much- that tends to range from t-shirts and jeans to oxfords and... jeans. He tends to favor a G.I.P.D. (Gambino Island Police Department) Baseball cap when wandering outside the shop, and often forgets to remove the plain white apron he wears when working.

[Neutral.Good] - What's Right isn't always what's comfortable.

[Occupation] Owner and proprietor of Sistine, a candy shop in central Durem.

[Family] Alistair is the oldest of 4, (five if you count his parent's yorkie, Custard, his mother's pride and joy.)

Sam, the second child owns a small home improvement company with her husband and is one of Alice's closest friends. She helped to build Sistine and pops in and out occasionally to see how it's fairing.

Jo is the middle child and an accomplished business lawyer and bachelorette. She isnt nearly as close to her brother as Sam, but they get along alright.

Benny, the youngest Greenwitch child is still in highschool and lives with their parents. She is constantly frustrated with her siblings- especially Alice- and wishes they'd take things a little more seriously.

Rhys and Lauren Greenwitch are still a happily married couple 50 years later. They retired to Barton Town several years ago when it became apparent that retiring to Gambino Isle was not as relaxing as they had initially thought it might be.

[Personality] A laid back sort of fellow, Alistair has an easy smile and a calm angle to his shoulders. He's outgoing and sunnily tempered- to the point where most of his customers find him mildly detached from their reality. He's the kind of person who sings out loud to his headphones, and doesnt mind if you stare.
Despite a deep love of sweets, he rarely has any himself. The years he's worked the shop have failed to acclimate his system to the evils of sugar, and tends to be wired for hours afterward when trying out his new recipes. The change is noticable, and often comical.

[History] An eldest son and ex-policeman, Alistair was forced to retire at 31 when his knee was irreparably damaged in the riots following the zombie attacks of Halloween 2004. During his time in physical therapy the blond put together the paperwork and plans for his shop, opening it with the help of his family and friends a month after he was able to retire his cane- roughly a year after he had begun. Though he still walks with a mild limp that is most noticeable on rainy days, Alice has cheerfully hiked the road to recovery and seems largely unaffected by the incident.

His shop is the product of his love of children and the romantic, decorated in bright colors and countless candied creations that range from the pithy but cute, to extravagantly detailed. Well acquainted with the strange by now, he's the first to say nothing surprises him anymore, but he loves to chat up new customers in the hopes of hearing interesting news.

[Hobby] Previous to his retirement, candy making itself was Alistair's secret hobby. (And a lot of fun to show off at parties!) But since it has become his profession, the ex-cop has taken to collecting and caring for seaslugs.

Yes. You heard me right.

Nudibranch seaslugs, with their beautiful and diverse colors, attracted him like the shades of the candy he sells. Sistine is littered with their large, lavish aquariums, showing off the beautiful little creatures as much as his creations. They are very picky eaters, and very delicate in terms of skin and habitat, so they take up a large amount of his free time. Nevertheless, he's very dedicated and beams with pride every time he sees one of his patrons stare with curiosity into the tanks.

But Why?

[Why.Gender] Nudibranchs are sexless. Rather, they are hermaphroditic. With that in mind, I'd want Divinity to be very adrogynous, and designed the character so that the personality wouldn't be any different whether the raevan was male or female.

[Why.Lokum] Divinity and Lokum are both names of candies. Very expensive and exquisite candies. It makes sense that Alistair would name his Raevan after one of his great loves, and since 'Nudibranch' makes a rather poor name, here we are.
To me, Divinity sounds more feminine and Lokum more masculine, (if only slightly,) so whatever gender the raevan may end up (if I happen to ever get one. Or this one.) there would be an appropriate for him/her to be called.
Further, Divinity fits in well with the theme of Alistair's candy shoppe, Sistine. It also makes a nice contrast with the fact that the Raevan would be a deliciously evil little thing and completely unrepentant about it.

[Why.Nudibranch] I chose nudibranchs for a lot of reasons, actually. I wanted something really different, that I could actually think of interesting things to draw into a Raevan from. There are so many people with so many interesting ideas, it was a struggle to feel like I wasnt stealing from them.
They also work really well with theme of Alice's shop, since they're often referred to as Sea Candy because of their lovely array of colors!

[Why.Sistine] Before he retired from the force, Alice loooooved making candy for his family and parties he was attending. It was his hobby and his joy. When his knee was broken, he couldn't breathe without shattering pain. The fact that these two things combined in his exit from the ranks and his opening of the shop mixd his Agony and his Ecstacy. Recognizing the pun as the title of a famous movie about Michaelangelo's painting of the Sistine Chapel, and a fan of the art of the era, he decided to dedicate his store to the double-entende.

[Why.Scar] So many characters have lovely or interesting scars. I like that. But in my life and experience the most nifty looking scars come from the strangest places. Alice is an example of that.

[Why.Raevan] Why this breedable when I've never expressed a desire in breedables before? Well, several reasons. Many breedables (most in fact) have absolutely gorgeous art, so while the Raevans are (and indeed, they are!) stunningly gorgeous, it really isnt that. The concept of their creation is absolutely facinating! I really love how creative they are, and the idea of trying to design one was very appealing. To boot, the rp community is one of the most developed and overall quality Ive ever seen! --I really dont mean that in a snotty way. But I have honestly never come across a group before where every active member was not only a wonderful writer and full of good ideas, but was also light hearted and fun! I really wanted to be a part of that. So here I am. :3
